  1. Eddie Lack was a better understudy than Nilsson, that's for sure. He was .912 and .921 in his two main seasons here 2013-14-15 in which he played 41 games in each. Markstrom was .912 this season and Nilsson .901
  2. Bo (out the side of his mouth) "Put your hat on kid and don't embarrass me"
  3. Not only that but he has been advised to alter his style to be less combative as it was incurring too many injuries.
  4. Yep, I turned the sound off and the most Latta could have hoped for was a draw. MacEwen edged it as he was pummelling him all the way out of the melee.
  5. There is only about 3lbs and 2" difference (if you believe Shink is 5'-10" I'm not "panicking" at all, I am giving an opinion. I sincerely hope he makes it and is a "big"player for us. It is you guys getting your knickers in a twist just because I am being a tad more realistic.
  6. With respect Alf I don't think he can be compared ability wise to either. Where were these two drafted?
  7. Alf, get back on your meds.
  8. Like who. You have said all that without giving a couple of 5'-7" 178lbs examples. Maybe he will manage to get into the NHL but at present there is a long way to go. It's not like putting on more weight will help him (unless he grows a bit) People on here are so over the top all the time instead of waiting a while to see if a player has what it takes to overcome the challenges of the NHL. All the players we draft, trade and sign should be with a view to making a splash in the SC. As we have seen it takes a special type of player and mentality to do that.
  9. That is your opinion HW. I beg to differ. Anyway I was actually referring to general size and style and the way this fanbase gets carried away sometimes. He's not even in the AHL yet.
  10. Shinkaruk says hi! Let's not build yet another small player up before he even gets 20 NHL games under his belt.
  11. I was serious about the MSL, I added the "miniature" as a jokey way to avoid people saying MSL was bigger. Well spotted though.
  12. He reminds me of a miniature Martin St Louis. Joking aside all these short levers seem to give him a quick powerful short. He also looks fast even against much bigger opponents. I like that he sees openings for team mates too.
  13. Put him in a Vancouver jersey and suddenly he would become a god. The irony is (and don't get me wrong I like him) how half of CDC wet themselves at anything good coming from Goldy but seem happy to call out Nylander. Just another day in the Canuck parallel universe I suppose.
  14. Does that make it true then Alf - I mean it must do, you heard it on the radio, just like we heard Jake was a bust or the Sedins were soft. I watched all the games and no he wasn't running about smacking everyone in site but he didn't shirk the challenges either. He played as hard as most of the forwards certainly as hard as Marner who I thought played well. If anyone looked "soft to me it was JVR. The guy is a monster and plays like half his size. Most of the Leaf's "softness" came from their lack of real size and pushback in defence.
  15. I tried the mock lottery over 9 times - till I got bored seeing Sabres and Blues logos and gave up.
  16. Stop it, please. We haven't a clue how Pettersson will perform here yet. Nylander has proved himself. Jeez what is it about CDC where every Canucks prospect who performs well is suddenly an NHL superstar and better than guys who are actually "doing it" in the NHL. You're like a crowd of pre-teen girls and their latest pop star crush. Are you watching other teams?
  17. Except you can't do that with any integrity back here on Earth. There are so many other factors to take into account. eg line mates, TOI, PP, ozone starts, o/a team performance.
  18. I don't know why you are getting so pissed. Andersson looks very similar to Pettersson here and he has started well in the NHL, so I can understand why the coach would want to trial them both.
  19. If we manage to scoop Svechnikov how about this boy as a Dahlin/Bouchard substitute. Nils Lundkvist "Sometimes it takes playing with great teammates to bring out the best in a prospect. Thats what transpired with this kid when he was surrounded by the cream of the Swedish dee-man crop at the Under-18 Five Nations tournament. Very smart in his decisions, with good vision and execution. There is so much to his game that translates to high levels of competition. He is confident, has very good speed, and plays with edge with big hits, and hard work on the defensive wall and the battle areas. Has the feet to expertly jump up into the play and activating, sometimes being the entry guy. Really good hands too, putting pucks on the sticks of the right teammate.Arguably, might have played better than Adam Boqvist, Adam Ginning, and Filip Johansson, and was a revelation."
  20. Agreed, said the same a few weeks back when he was trending 3rd/4th. The main reason is I think we can get a top D further down or on UFA whereas this guy is a special talent. Any forward group with him Bo, Boeser, Pettersson, Dahlen, Gaudette, Goldobin, Jake and Sutter (with Lind, Gadjovich, Baertschi, Granlund, Leipsic, Motte and Gaunce filling in) has got to be a force to be reckoned with imo. Every one of them is capable of becoming a household name. "Spent significant time out of the line up with Barrie and sustaining a wrist injury, but ranks on my list as the top forward due to both his scoring ability but his ability to generate looks on the attack in many ways. Despite his injury still is second among all CHL rookie prospects in terms of points per game. Good size, a lightning quick release, and a resume that includes a 30 goal season as a 15 year old in Russia, a 29 goal, 58 point in 48 games in the USHL as a 17 yr old, and 36 points in 21 games with Barrie this season. Strong, disciplined and high hockey sense, he doesn’t just want to be a one zone player; he will be active in the middle and defensive zone with the hopes he can break things open to go back the other way. He already is a big man with high end skill, strong hockey sense, and the feet to beat opponents one on one. He gets loose from coverage with regularity He was a power game in junior and projects to be a power wing as he progresses, very similar to former first rounder, Jacub Voracek. He makes his linemates better, and projects as one of the top three wingers in the draft class." Man, can you imagine him on a line with Boeser and Elias? Added bonus, another Russian here (along with his buddy Goldy) will be enticing for Tryamkin.
  21. Stastny hasn't played 82 games since 2006 (his first NHL season) With our record on injuries, he is the last player I want to overpay for. Imo he hasn't the impact to match his salary - there are better players to overpay for. He has not particularly impressed me in a lively Jets team either. I'd rather take Lowry.
  22. You do that so well, it's as if you were born for the role.
  23. Well I have published a detailed list of their players on here and there is no way that season performance was a sure thing based on their roster. Hindsight is a great thing. I didn't read many posts if any, on here, saying Vegas would run riot did you? Eakin, Carpenter, Bellemare, William Carrier, Engelland, Haula, Karlsson etc - look at the records of the players on their roster prior to coming to Vegas, how many would you have said would have been as successful as they have been? They have done what any team could do and that was they have selected players with potential and combined their talents with the overriding requirement for speed. I think Sbisa was the highest draft (leaving aside the net minder Fluery) and he has been sidelined by injury. Many of these players were misfits, surplus to requirements or cap dumps. The fact is they have people at that club - GM, Coaches, Scouts who can not only recognise talent but have had the ability to see past the talent into the work ethic, winners mentality and ability to work/play with others. Believe it or not the the lack of any or all of these characteristics can stall any amount of potential. They have also been able to cover their injuries because they have not had to endure the kind of drafting disaster teams like Vancouver have had. So I don't agree with your post at all and I am willing to say that unless Seattle are lucky enough to have the same scouting and team building abilities as Vegas there is no way they will emulate them. Vegas was imo a one off freak, perfect storm of management, coaching, scouting and player character coming together and playing a style which ideally suited their player selection. Vegas management are to be congratulated on their choices at all levels - that is the difference for me.
