  1. He's bigger alright, if that was him working out behind Guddy in his video he looks like he stole the keys to a Patisserie over the summer.
  2. I want to be excited, I'm happy for the Sedins, but man, I just want to stop signing players with no push back. Anyway, he's a Canuck now so I'm right behind him. Go Loui!!!
  3. I'm sure that's not what you meant to say.
  4. I'm just saying how he came over in his interview.
  5. Except he has said he wants to play in the NHL next season. He's keen as mustard and he certainly doesn't have an inferiority complex.
  6. I would plus you twice if I could.
  7. This guy excites me. Either he's met a lot of poor goalies or he has some delivery. It also makes me wish Willie could have had Schroeder and Sweatt under him for a season.
  8. I think Vey is grossly underrated by most Canucks fans. He has good hockey IQ and is one of those players who facilitates team mates to play better around him. I don't think we have seen the best of Vey yet.
  9. After Milos went up 3-0 in the 2nd Murray woke up and went into sublime mode. I think Lendl must have given him the hard stare.
  10. When did you wake up to find you were JB? You have no idea what his ceiling is. He went from 0-50th best N. American skater in half a season. You do realise HALF the big names in the League are 3rd round or lower and La Plante may well have gone a lot higher than 63rd if he hadn't had injuries. He's not a 21 -27 year old, he's 21. He could be a talent in the NHL by the time he is 24 and you and I have no idea whether that will be the case or not. You continually act like you know more than JB. You are beginning to sound like desi and that's not a good thing.
  11. It is just possible that JB has unearthed another gem in this guy. He has had injuries and it remains to be seen how much they held him back but one look at his progress during 2015-16 for Gatineau Olympiques where he went from 17 in 30 to 65 in 63 shows he could be a sleeper. Kevin McGran : Toronto Star. "Yan Pavel Laplante of the P.E.I. Rocket could well be this year’s Henrik Zetterberg or Jamie Benn — a mid-to-late-round NHL draft pick whose career output surpasses the expectations of a modest draft position. Despite a pre-season injury that limited him to 18 regular-season games in the QMJHL, Laplante went from unranked at mid-season to 50th among North American skaters. That could see him as an early third-round pick depending on how many Europeans and goalies go in the first two rounds and how teams feel about his shoulder. Zetterberg was a seventh-round selection (210th overall) by Detroit in 1999 and Benn was taken by Dallas in the fifth round (129th overall) in 2007. “It feels good to see that (ranking) after missing so much of the year with (shoulder) surgery,” said Laplante on Tuesday in the middle of a spate of interviews during the NHL draft combine. “But I’m not thinking about it. I was just waiting. I was just playing my game.” Laplante has a stellar reputation — he might have been ranked among the top 20 if he hadn’t missed most of the year due to that torn labrum." I like the look of this youngster, he has fought back twice from injury and still doesn't hold back from the tough areas or dropping the gloves. The fact that Benning signed him can only be good, knowing as we do just how much of a Scouting Maestro he is and the massive mental database he carries about with him. But Utica first and I hope he makes them all forget about Shink next season.
  12. I actually don't see the other team going for any of that.
  13. This thread is hilarious. All you guys bending over backwards to point out A: how valuable he is. B: how well he would do for other teams. The fact seems to have escaped many of you how this team's D sucked after Edler went down injured. We need Edler a hell of a lot more than other teams do, we are still not sure we can make the playoffs even with Guddy and yet we are offloading our best and most physical D.
  14. Well good on them. I think we have now established that mentoring, encouraging, coaching and praising the rookies in public is fine but let us keep the criticism inside the locker room.
  15. Well I said at the time he was right to call it a late hit because everyone and his uncle could see it was. As for the other stuff I don't agree with the coach calling out any of his players in public although having said that WD did heap a lot of praise on Virtanen AND defended him vehemently after the WJCs What WD and JB have to realise is just how much of a self destructive media Vancouver has. The less given to them the better imo.
  16. The suspension was over exaggerated by the usual media jackals. As for Danny, I have lost a lot of respect for the Twins. Too much yapping to the media and he of all people should know better. If he has something to say then let him say it to the boy. If he did, fine, that should be an end to it, there was no need for any further briefing of the media. Honestly the Twins seem to have an agenda which is beginning to worry me. I hope this coming season they keep all this trash in-house as it is not doing their rep much good, nor is it helping the coach imo.
  17. Oh the cutting irony of that statement Alf. I wish. It seems JB doesn't listen to me either. I knew he didn't listen to the rest of CDC but I thought at least he book marked my posts even if it was only so he could have a late night chuckle with his Chivas Regal. It seems not as he has extended that 178 lbs low scoring, no pushback, nonentity, for another 2 years. Oh well I have been wrong before - not often mind.
  18. Agreed. I pointed out his poor decision making in another post. But let's not underplay these kind of faults, no coach will select a player who can't be defensively aware, whether it is carrying the puck out of defense, making the wrong pass, or (another thing I noticed) poor positional sense. What is sad, though not surprising is that most of CDC don't have the ability to see his shortcomings, they only see that Willie has put their "fighter" in the press box. At the end of the day Pedan could take a leaf out of Tryamkin's book when it comes to keeping it simple and being consistently reliable. Oh and I hope Pedan is working on his skating this summer. Being smoother, more balanced and comfortable on the ice leads to better and more consistent production.
  19. I hear what you are saying and I actually want to keep him. So much so that I was annoyed he was played as a forward. I think if we have him in Vancouver it must be as a D. The more he plays in that role the more chance he will lose his nerves and it is nerves imo that is holding him back. He said he would spend the summer working on his game (maybe his skating - see Alf's post) and that is a good thing. There is definitely a place for him in the NHL but only if he overcomes his nerves and plays his game the same way he does in Utica.
  20. Alf I think we are in danger of not seeing the wood for the trees. Pedan has size, of that there is no doubt but make no mistake, when it comes to CDC, what most of them really see is someone who fights and they become blind to whether the guy can actually play. I think HE CAN PLAY but what I saw mostly when he came up was indecision, poor choice making, poor positioning and generally a guy who wasn't ready. Imo I think he couldn't defeat his nerves. I say that because of his performances for Green in Utica. I don't think Green would have ok'd his promotion if he was playing poorly in Utica. If we lose him, we lose him, frankly there are plenty of D's out there who could take his place, hopefully we will see one of them in Larsen.
  21. Wrong. The place should always go to the guy who gets the job done and that from the evidence so far is Biega by a country mile. I'm sick of this young is best crap. Young is young and young lacks experience and young lacks consistency. That is what the AHL is for and when Pedan sorts his head out in the AHL he will get a good look
  22. Agreed and he has sometimes played with some dodgy line mates.
