Stop embarrassing yourself. Some of us have perfect memories, unlike you it seems.

Burr has been electric in the last too games and looks like he is really coming into form. Last night especially I was very impressed. Don't get me wrong, he has been good for most of the season but that is because he never gives up and is a relentless checker and a pain in the ass for the opposition. Lately he has begun to look more threatening in front of goal. The old Burr is reappearing and that can only be good for the Canucks.

We need to see BG up in the line up fast. I think he would have offered much more both in physicality and scoring than either Jake or Mc has done so far.

I hate to say this but Jake reminds me a bit of Zack Kassian. He seems to be unsure where to position himself, when to go in and help out and generally more often than not he stands around looking lost. Imo we must not let him lose out on going to Utica where he can be coached under less pressure even if it means a year in the majors before it happens. I wouldn't be unhappy if we didn't see him up again for 2-3 years if it will help him avoid turning out like Zack. I would much rather have seen Gaunce get his chance. (he looked the best of the rookie forwards anyway) I also think we might see a much better, more physical Shink if he keeps up his early season form. I don't blame JB for keeping Jake up, after all we needed to see if he would stick before shoving him back into the majors and I think we can all see, it takes more than a few hits to make it in the NHL.

Well D I said this back on September 26th "However I suspect it will be two from Hutton, Corrado and Biega who will be kept up. September 23rd after the San Jose game. "Hutton is the blindsider and I think only Pedan can stop him getting at least an early season try-out in the big team. He has the class, the skill and the ability to anticipate and make time for himself. A real find imo and a player I predicted would be in with a shout at the start of the prospects tournament" September 15th "Out of all the prospects I probably was most impressed by Hutton and would love to see him get a few games. It was also noticeable that JB didn't even mention Subban which I found strange." However I also said he would probably find it too physical and eventually got to Utica. Now I'm not so sure, he is just so smart and slippery with the puck. I also liked how he didn't hesitate to get involved when Calgary started to try and bully around the net.

I find it strange that we can't find a place for a guy like Archibald in Utica. His main problem for me was that he seems to be one of these guys who goes into his shell when he gets a chance in the NHL (like Billy Sweatt) However I still think he would have been an asset in Utica.

I agree. I think Virtanen is the player we should be most patient with. I don't want to see him turn into another Kassian when a year or two under a coach like Green in the A (not next year obviously) will hone is game into a more lethal and consistent threat. We know he has the heart and the physique but all that can be wasted if he is not coached in how to best use it to it's best effect in the pro league. Just look at what Green did for Gaunce (and Grenier) since Utica was affiliated. It is a crying shame he can't be sent to the A but nothing can be done about that now. Does anyone know if he can spend a year in Europe, Sweden maybe? Even that might be better than the juniors.
-
I'm sure Green and his staff will be glad to hear you think so highly of him. They go to the A to develop good habits or has Detroit been wasting it's time all these years?
-
I wouldn't worry about it. If he is anything like his brother (Cameron) he will drop the gloves WHEN IT MATTERS. There is no point risking anything in pre season. Here is Cameron sticking up for a team mate, against a Komisarek who is 40lbs !!!! and 3 inches bigger than him.

Sadly, all very true. Even sadder was the refusal of so many to come to terms with what was blocking a clearly talented player like Kassian. Focus. He needed a coaching "reset" every couple of games" sometimes every couple of shifts on his blacker days. There is a guy who is going to have a whole truckload of regrets on the day he hangs up his skates. I put most of it down to bad early development and I am afraid Virtanen is being denied the same season/2 seasons in the A where it could make all the difference to what line he sticks on.

The kid has balls for such a slight frame. He seems to be lion hearted the way he went tearing into players who were a foot taller than him and then bounced back off them. He will be a real competitor 2-3 down the line and I can't wait.

I don't think that is even close to accurate. Many, including myself have been tipping Gaunce for stardom. Here is what I said a year ago. " Posted by alfstonker on 27 September 2014 - 11:48 AM in Canucks Talk Whale Tail, on 27 Sept 2014 - 06:43 AM, said: I have also said that about Gaunce, he is a deceptive mover, a lot quicker than he looks. He is also smart which gives him an edge in speed of thought and anticipation. (future captain for me, 5years down the line)

Age has very little to do with it, especially if you are talking about the Sedins and I would say most European players. They seem to have a way of extending their shelf life.
-
As has been proven by a good few players on our team, not if you put the work and dedication into it. Most players who make the grade in the NHL from whatever number they are drafted may give the impression that they have some magic formula but if they do, 99% of it is work and dedication to improving.
-
You should of course point out that there is physical maturity and mental maturity. I think for him to look like that and play the game to the level he does probably means he is not lagging in the latter.
-
He looks like a "mini Gaunce" in that photo.
-
This guy has class written all over him. He always looks to have as much time as he needs (really good players operate on a different clock from everyone else ) He seems quick and smooth on his skates and almost caresses his passes. Great shot too, which seems to deceive goalies no matter where he is on the ice. Anyone else thinking Ehrhoff here? I can't wait to see Sautner get his big chance.
-
Forgive me if I don't trust your scouting judgement.
-
Surely it goes beyond physical play with Lucic. He is classless, I doubt anyone could deny that. He is also not going to get the leeway to do the stuff he does in Boston, we are the Canucks remember. Benning is trying to build a strong foundation of class and character in this team and Lucic, apart from the fact he is a pretty ordinary player at best, just does not meet the criteria. It would be insulting to put Lucic with the Sedins. Like putting an Orc in bed with an Elf.

Brilliant performance by Murray to put Novak back in his box at last. Roll on the US Open when we could see some real fireworks. I haven't seen Murray so dominating in all aspects of his game since the Olympics. Novak tried everything but Murray was irresistible.

I've learned to take your judgements with a deal of sceptical alacrity after some of your past lemons.

Hansen's a killer!
-
Agreed, Hansen's a "killer"
-
Agreed. Some of our fans seem to want to will our chances away. We still have a fast, competitive unit and who knows a couple of rookies may contribute to that. I wouldn't mind seeing a high HIQ player like Gaunce get a chance and Virtanen if they show up well. Gaunce stepping in for Rich would be something to get me excited.

He doesn't need to justify ANY of his trades. Unlike you his job depends on his decisions.
