  2. 63 posts and you are already well up to CDC speed for crass comments.
  3. Three things. He is physical and goes to the net. His positioning, anticipation is high level. He is NOT slow. He is one of those deceptive graceful skaters that seems to have the speed where/when it is required.
  4. Good catch. I was about to ask the same question as I have never heard Bonino say that. In fact I would think it ill advised for any player to publicly state where he should be playing as that is up to the coach to decide.
  5. Why do people say "non physical?" Ok he doesn't go about hitting players like Kenins but the guy's level of compete was pretty high for someone in their first rookie season. There is more to physicality than hits. Being an absolute pest and constantly harassing the puck carrier is Vey's game and he did it well most nights.
  6. Hindsight is easy. Go watch the NHL you will see instances where that could be said in every game. Result? You get people moaning about the Sedins, who are masters of the "extra pass" If Gaunce had scored, you don't post your "revelation"
  7. This is not unlike Bo's spell in Utica though and he seemed to do pretty well when he came up and settled in.
  8. This is the big thing about Bo for me. He is a LOT faster than I thought he was. Whether it is down to more strength or just feeling more at home and more a part of the team in the NHL I don't know but he is certainly quick.
  9. That is just what I was thinking. I think he looks well able to handle the NHL and I love how he takes "clearing the crease" personally. He has a lot of physical upside and a 2nd line partnership with a beefed up Subban might be awsome
  10. Yeah because no one ever scores "a few" goals in the AHL and doesn't cut it right away in the NHL. Have you seen Vey's record and he was picked 83 places lower. He was played all he could handle by Willie. That is how Willie coaches, he puts the players development first, that's why he doesn't "break" them.
  11. Go back and read what Green said. As I recall he was put on the wing not as a permanent position but to learn more about being physical, using his big body and battling on the boards. Green implied it was a "course" he was being put through and not a permanent position change. I think it will be down to requirements as to whether he stays there. I think he will revert to centre as he is too "smart" to remain on the wing.
  12. I don't think he is like Higgins at all. For a start I think he has a higher hockey IQ and is also going to be more of a leader. Higgins plays much of the time like he is thinking about something else and could hardly be called leadership material. I also think unlike Higgins he helps others to play. (IQ again)
  13. Totally agree, I think Virt will probably be up with the Canucks if he can keep up the kind of display he showed in Utica and add some goals.
  14. Who cares. I hardly see any fighting in the playoffs, do you?
  15. Hopefully we will have Bancks back for the eliminator.
  16. Well Green's reason for moving Gaunce to the wing was to teach him how to play on the boards so why can't Virtanen get the same coaching? A year in the AHL (year after next) would be far more beneficial if it is under Green. In fact imo if Kassian had spent another year in the AHL under a coach like Green he would be a much more successful player.
  17. How quick did that line of Weis, Shink and Gaunce look on transition.
  18. I don't agree. Gaunce has been effective for most of the season and that was despite having to learn a new role as winger. No one as far as I know knew why he was dropped, it may have been a niggling injury. I can also site any number of players who have a reputation of only really coming alive in the playoffs, is that such a bad thing? I would rather have that than the other way round. However as I say Gaunce does not imo fit your profile. He has played exceptionally well, in fact was he not voted the most improved player by Utica? Hardly a testament to inconsistency. If you want to look at patchy players then look no further than Jensen, who has a real problem with consistency to the point that his future must now be in the balance. I have not given up on him because Green imo seems to be a terrific coach and he has elevated many of our rookie's games including Gaunce, Shink, Baertschi, Archiebald, Freisen, Corrado, Pedan and Grenier.
  19. How many games have you watched him in. Not highlights, full games?
  20. I see Gaunce as a Backes, Ladd type player by the time Green has finished with him.
  21. I don't see that, not for a while anyway. I really think our 2c has to show more point production than any of our available centres are showing at the moment bar Hank. It may come next season for Bo with a better playmaker along side him but really he can't complain with some of the chances dished to him by Hansen and Kenins so far. If Horvat ups his production next year to say 25g 30 assists then fine he is ready for the 2nd line but until then he looks more like our future 3rd line centre to me.
  22. He doesn't have to be though, does he? He just has to be better and at this point I think he is. He is the difference between getting to the playoffs again next season and not for this team and that is well worth $5M.
  23. I don't see Sven coming in when we have Vey and Mac, both high energy players and Mac is also a hitter as we have seen.
