  1. i didn't see it like that. I thought Sven played really well but sometimes his timing/pass direction was just a bit rusty. That doesn't worry me because these are all new team mates and the speed and accuracy is higher in the NHL. He will gradually find that accuracy. All in all it was a very impressive couple of games so far. I love his smooth skating and acceleration with the IQ to go with it.
  2. Lots of youngster are maybe a bit too full of themselves. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing at that age. They will learn as they make their way that they are not the only ones with talent. Guys like Travis Green and Willie will have seen all kinds and they will know how to channel it in the right way, not to mention some of the older pros. Funnily enough I also am fast coming to believe Bo Horvat will be a huge influence on any young players coming in. He seems to talk like a leader, is respectful of his peers and seems a pretty grounded character and tough along with it.
  3. I would love to see Archibald up next year because I now think we have a coach that knows how to get the best out of rookies. Archie's problem before was he went into his shell and therefore he ended up looking no better than players like Dalpe, Welch and Gordon. One thing I will say is Willie is all about speed of foot and high hockey IQ even in the 4th line so Archie better be willing to soak up and perform every night at a high level.
  4. We won't be saying goodbye to Bieksa that is for sure. What makes you think any of the new guys can push the core out. It won't be Clendening yet given his displays so far.
  5. Burrows is starting to look like he is taking it on his own shoulders to haul us into the playoffs. I love the guy's spirit and compete level. When the going gets tough, Burr gets epic. When he gets hot he has more ice in his veins than a Viking snowman.
  6. The Paper Kites - Leopold Street. (Shades of The Shins at their best) Wake Owl - Wild Country. The War on Drugs - Red Eyes. The Essex Green - Don't Know Why
  7. Agreed and with Willie's ability to nurture young players, build their confidence and get the best out of them I think it may well prove the best option.
  8. I don't see any of them as a waiver risk. (Vey is already playing well, Clendening will be better next season and Bert has shown he can handle the NHL all be it i a limited stay) If as seems to be the popular opinion on here that we trade Higgins, Richie, Hansen for picks (I son't see us letting Matthias go) Then that is a possible 3 roster spots we hope to fill which would allow us to place Jake/Gaunce/McCann in the spare spot (4 if we part with Webber) JB says the 2016 draft will be even better. So even if these guys struggle a bit we are going to get a payback at the draft. I do have to wonder if we are on the same wavelength as JB. He may be for keeping Hansen and Higgins next season and holding the prospects back to mature for another season in Utica (similar to Detroit)
  9. I would hate to part with Vey. He has a lot of intangibles and once he strengthens on the puck he will be great for us with his never say die effort level. He's like a more sophisticated Hansen. Willie has only had 2/3 of a season with these guys, wait till next season. WOW!
  10. Jeez, he just re-wrote the Laws of Physics in the blink on an eye.
  11. I seem to recall the coach saying Gaunce was being "loaned" out to the wing berth to improve his battling and make him utilise his strength and size more. I took from that, it was a temporary coaching thing designed to broaden his experience and improve him prior to reverting back to centre eventually
  12. Except Gaunce is playing right side is he not?
  13. Nicely put and I agree, although Shink is still trying to catch up on his lost season imo.
  14. Gaunce for me is going to be one of these rare athletes who always seem to have time but don't seem to be very quick. He has a good anticipation and is always smart on the puck. The type of player others like to play with. That's why it annoys me when people include him in trade deals. I can't wait for him to get a chance in the NHL.
  15. Joker schooling Murray. There seems to be a 2 levels of mental strength on show and Joker is boss when it comes to what's going on in his head. Murray in melt down.
  16. I think your first para makes my point. And I have just checked Murray's results, he didn't just beat these players he whitewashed them and only gave Berdych one set which could also have gone to Murray, Anyway it's all over bar the final now and despite Joker's dominance, it should still be an exciting match.
  17. Except it doesn't work that way, ask Nadal and Federer. Murray made short work of both of their conquerers or are you ignoring that. As for Raonic he has a way to go before he gets into a Final. Getting into a QF is one thing getting to a final is a totally different ball game. I still think Joker will win but I was anxious to see Stan in the final reprising his earlier game with Murray now that Murray is fit again. Just for a change. I couldn't believe he collapsed 6-0 in the last after coming back.
  18. Looks like an epic Aussie men's final coming up. I would love to see a Stan v Murray rematch. Murray looks better prepared to give Stan a challenge than last time when his back was giving him problems. Was surprised at how easily Murray swatted Berdych away. I don't think Berdych will be making any more ill-advised comments the next time they play. The last thing you want to do to Murray is fire him up.
  19. Well I'm not a big fan of Gillis as you may know but credit where it is due, Utica was a masterstroke and I totally agree with what you have posted.
  20. I love Utica for the Canucks AHL team, that's why I was concerned when people were talking about bringing it to Abbotsford. Right from day one they have got behind the team and that was despite the terrible start last season. It is night and day difference to Chicago. Utica will imo be one of the main factors in making the Canucks a contender in the next 2/3 years. What makes me especially happy is the fact we will be sending our young and gifted prospects to a town and support that will appreciate them and really get behind them. Sadly I think we could do with more of that spirit in Rogers.
  21. I think Gaunce in the long run will be the best we have. That is why I hate to see people offer him in trades. We haven't begun to see the limit of what this guy is capable of. Utica have him playing the body (more than Jensen does that's for sure) and his physical, thoughtful approach is what we need in Vancouver. I reckon by the end of the season he will be the guy who will show up best for the Canucks amongst the current batch in Utica and that imo includes Bo.
  22. Had my cousin staying over the weekend and he monopolised my player with this. Scottish hip hop ha-ha. I love the last line "So dae what yer telt"
  23. Horvat back to Utica for assessment.
  24. Really pleased for Burr to-night. I think he is going to thrive in a Willie team. I never doubted him coming back and I never doubted his commitment to play hard and keep going from start to finish. Needless to say I was really disappointed with what some people were saying about him and I think Burr showed HE'S BACK with a bang. As for his check, well all I can say is the playoffs have started early for Burr.
