  1. Regarding Lind, that was exactly how I assessed him in the Canucks pre season. Considering it wasn't his first camp he lacked spark and I hate to see that in a young player. I hope this is not the explanation of "Why is nobody taking Lind?" phenomenon.
  2. That happens to most players at some time though. When I watched him at the end of last season it seemed he made decisions just fine but he had no puck luck. Having said that I didn't think he did enough to stay up after pre-season, so a stint in Utica will do him no harm.
  3. Imo Boucher is a lost cause in the NHL. He is just too laid back, there is no desire to fight and claw in his game when he gets a chance. A goal here or there means nothing in the NHL if the desire and desperation is lacking and that is what I have seen with him. He has the kind of attitude which can be infectious to other young prospects and that is another reason he is better left in the AHL or traded. I doubt he even cares when he is sent down - if he did he would be more like Baertschi and show some temper when he is here. Ironically you could say a player like Boucher is just as guilty of holding a place better allocated to a prospect, who at least will "give it a real go" when he gets promoted.
  4. You forget these AHL coaches know they have a short life span if there is no/limited success. There are plenty of guys who would jump at getting the chance to show what they can do in their place. Like the NHL, the coaches find it hard to trust the young guys. It shouldn't be a problem in the AHL but human nature dictates that if it keeps them in a job the coaches will favour the more experienced players to protect their job and claim it is protecting their prospects. Of course there is some truth in it and so it is up to the young guys who get a chance to show they CAN be trusted and maintain consistency. After all that is what will ultimately lead to promotion to the NHL.
  5. Yeah not a good look. When a guy has given up and on his knees the winner should turn away. There must have been something said or some earlier ill feeling but that kind of play is cheap imo.
  6. An underrated Canadian Band. Echoes of St Etienne and Churches. Love it.
  7. And that has worked so well for him? My point stands, the guy can play centre and so Cull shouldn't be moaning. Gaunce was moved to wing as I remember as a "temporary measure" to get him to play a more physical game. Not all centres require to be physical so in fact that thinking imo was pretty spurious.
  8. Well if they were that short of centres, why is one of their best sitting on the wing on their 4th line?
  9. Too pertinent I imagine.
  10. I think it is Green's wake up call. I hope Gaunce realises that there is no point having that physique and not using it consistently, like Jake...........oh wait.
  11. Who is inventing? The gloss has gone from Demko, that is my opinion.
  12. Agreed, neither any better than Lack when he was here.
  13. I love this guys voice - cool song. We were walking on Sparkes Street growing up real fast I left it behind pretty quickly, still the farthest thing from pretty I found comfort, I fell in love with avoiding problems We were riding on Smith Street we were right on track I left it behind without sinking, they all said I wasn't thinking I found comfort, I fell in love with avoiding problems But I want this, you know I want this So come on, mess me up And you can break me if you'll still take me Ruin me, if you'll let me be one of the ones you say you won't forget ‘Cause I want this, you know I want this So come on, mess me up I was stumbling on Suffolk throwing up real hard Inside was kind of misty, I knew none of the history I found comfort, I fell in love with avoiding problems And that was the problem ‘Cause I want this, you know I want this So come on, mess me up And you can break me if you'll still take me Ruin me, if you'll let me be one of the ones you say you won't forget ‘Cause I want this, you know I want this So come on, mess me up ‘Cause I want this, you know I want this So come on, mess me up
  14. I don't agree that he is a 7/8 IN THIS TEAM that's how I think you are being unfair. But fair enough we all have different opinions.
  15. But he is better. He's more physical and makes far fewer mistakes.
  16. I think you are being a bit unfair to Biega. He is first rate at his primary job and that is defense. Pouliot and MDZ can skitter up the ice as often as they want to little effect but their defense is garbage. I would not have either in the team before Biega OR Sautner for that matter. We need to start getting our defensive priorities right and start to protect our goalies instead of making them feel they are targets on a firing range.
  17. I think the most important aspect is to protect your goalie. By that I mean hustle the opponent into giveaways and taking the puck off them. Punishing opponents physically in checking. Blocking pucks. Being aware and not leave opponents on their own. Jeez there are only 5 opponents on the ice and we manage to lose one or two CONSISTENTLY. That is bad defense and poor coaching. If you are not doing these simple things it doesn't matter how well you transition the puck.
  18. They also need Ds who are actually aware of what is happening around them. MDZ, Gudy and Juolevi were all at sea in that respect. I mean Juolevi has an excuse but these other 2 are gash and need to be on their way. That is my early opinion and we will see if things improve in the regular season. I can't understand how we have sent Sautner down and kept Pouliot and MDZ other than the fact they are vets. If it was up to me and McEneny was fit I would have both out and insert McEneny and Sautner. If we can't have a creative D at least we can have one that helps the goalie. Oh and once more Biega demonstrates just how underrated he is by many of our fans.
  19. And then he does one of those sublime things which belong in Disneyland and all is forgiven.
  20. I don't always agree with you but I was exactly the same. I was desperate for MT (push back and physicality wrapped in nasty) having just edged away from Serachev but I didn't even consider Juolevi. That said I am one of those who say he is ours now and we need to give him all the time he needs. He is certainly not a bust in my book.
  21. No it's more that I really don't think TD should be having "technical issues" to the extent being discussed when you consider his pedigree.
  22. Nobody with a 'tache like Willie could be mean. Have you seen his Russian coach.
  23. Hope you are right. You see him a lot more than I do of course.
  24. I have a feeling DP will edge past Demko in a couple of years. I'm a bit worried Demko might have stalled. Thought he might challenge for back up as I'm not sold on Nilsson.
