  1. I’d say more like the Shinkaruk trade or the Forsling trade. Anyhow, couldn’t make much sense of this at first. Did some research on Karlsson and it sounds like he could be a player, and we gain a couple years of development. Whatever Dahlen’s issue was, I’m going to hope it works out for us of course.
  2. Markstrom is a starter, he’s just not elite, simple as that. Elite players.. goalies, defenceman, forwards... they take the game on their shoulders and they break it. He is not that and that’s completely fine. Give the guy an above average defence and he’d be an above average goaltender. He’s got the size, the skill, and the athleticism. I think the only shortcoming to his game is between his ears, but even that is coming along. Maintaining focus as a goaltender is hard as hell, and anyone who’s never done it doesn’t have a clue.
  3. Completely agree. Henrik was a wizard on that side but you’re right, everyone KNEW what the play was going to be and set up accordingly.
  4. My thinking is that we have one of the best face off guys as one of our coaches in Malhotra to work with him. Not to mention Beagle and Sutter who both are no slouches in the dot. Pettersson is far too smart of a player to not recognize his deficiencies in certain areas, I’m sure he’ll improve in all of them.
  5. You’re severely underrating Dahlin, he’s an absolute stud.
  6. Sorry if I’m misunderstanding but the way this reads seems as if you think that’s a bad thing. Very very few defenceman outside of maybe the top 3 make it their first year. McAvoy, Sergachev, Chychrun, are all outliers from how even high end usually defenceman develop. I honestly could care less where Juolevi was drafted, who we coulda/shoulda had instead. He’s our guy, and I trust his mentor in Salo and what he has to say about him. Anyone expecting Juolevi to come in and light the world on fire like the second coming of Bobby Orr is going to be soundly disappointed. Juolevi brings a quiet, smooth, calm presence to the back end.
  7. You’d likely know better than me, I was kneehigh to a grasshopper lol. There’s a link to the fight. Look at Garret jump in there like a bat out of hell. Must’ve heard Lemieux make fun of ketchup.
  8. His big claim to fame according to my dad was he was Mario Lemieux’s first opponent in a scrap. I do believe he got his ass handed to him lol
  9. Gary’s from my hometown. I didn’t know him myself but my old man was really good buddies with him. They lit up the town with Phil Housley and co once upon a time. I know his brother, and his dad before he passed a couple years back. His dad was a beauty, had some pretty great stories.
  10. Lol me too. I agree, I think that would be a lot to aim for in his first year back. Having said that, Edler and Del Zotto are both UFAs at the end of this season, and I can see the possibility of a short term contract for Edler perhaps but not DZ. Perhaps if he plays consistently like he did at the beginning of the year, but more likely in that case we move him at the TDL. As the writer states in that article, it’s extremely difficult to predict what our lineup will look like at that point. However I think it would be a little foolish on the Canucks to not give Tryamkin a 2 year show me contract.
  11. My shoulders are always sore from carrying my squad as well.
  12. I think it much more likely we see Gaudette before the other two forwards you mentioned. I’m kind of assuming we have him join us towards the end of the season, like Boeser last year.
  13. Well, Google says otherwise. Thanks for your definitive answer.
  14. I think he meant Bachelors of Communications. Not sure if that’s a thing but that’s my assumption. Taking a leap on that, as it were.
  15. Sorry to interrupt here but lol. Having a Bachelor’s degree in education doesn’t necessarily make you a great communicator. That’s a huge leap of an assumption to claim that because you have a degree you’re good at something. Carry on.
  16. While I wasn’t 100% on one side of the fence with this, I did say a few times that if Boeser started/played awhile with the Comets I would be totally okay with it... wow, he’s been impressive, and I’m happy to eat my words. I knew he could score, he’s got a very very good wrister, but what I was concerned about was his 200’ game. While he’s no Selke winner, at this point at least, he’s certainly not a detriment defensively. Petterson is, IMO, a little smarter offensively with his vision, but doesn’t possess the same rocket shot. I foresee him being the Adam Oates style player; one that can open up the ice and create and complete plays, not a “game breaker” that a finisher like Boeser is. Regardless, he’s gonna be something really really special, and with Horvat being his opposite in play style, we will have an excellent 1-2 punch up the middle if he’s able to improve his face off skill. I predict once he lands in Vancouver, Malhota will work with him hard and increase his skill in that department.
  17. Brock Boeser not playing the first two games? Our PP? The daily whipping boy? Goalie controversy? Jake Virtanen? Not tanking? Stealth tanking? I literally could go on lol.
  18. Salo’s massive shot was what people tend to remember about him most, but he was absolutely fantastic at shutting guys out and keeping them to the side of the ice in the defensive zone. Basically, Tanev, sans the muffins.
  19. I for one am perfectly happy using last year as a measuring stick for Gaunce. Overall I thought he filled the role asked of him as a 4th liner excellently. Obviously though, you want your 4th liners chipping in 6-10 goals ideally, which of course he did not. I feel pretty comfortable about his all around game and look forward to his return. Fwiw I think Burmistrov stays and BG bumps him out... but then, with our eternal injury bug, who knows who’ll be available and who won’t be.
  20. Obviously it’s tough to get full coverage of the games, but why is it he’s getting substantially less ice time despite putting up excellent numbers? Does he have a problem with the coach? Poor 200 ft game? I don’t really understand what’s happening with that.
  21. Meanwhile, McCann potted himself a hat trick tonight.
  22. I just love the "shiny new toy" syndrome some of CDC seems to have. We literally just drafted this kid. One thing I gotta say I love about our management is that they seem to learn from their mistakes... seeing as bringing Virtanen and McCann up so quick seemed to have set back their development curve, I highly doubt they'll do that again.
