  1. I'll be back. As I said my girl grew up there until she was 23, she's got tons of family there. It's a beautiful place. I lived there here for about 7 years but now I live back where I grew up about 100km north of Van. Little mainland town of Powell River.
  2. Capri, Bullseye, Armando's and Naples. 8 days I was there and I bet I had pizza like 12 times hahaha. Beautiful town, I had a great time.
  3. No kidding, I was just there in June. My girlfriend grew up there. Your pizza is unreal lol
  4. Agreed. A little disappointing to not see him at main camp with the big boys, but I respect a person who is able to say that they want to keep working harder and getting better at their current level before taking the next step. This is kid is gonna be good.
  5. I don't hate that idea. With Gagner in the picture it gives Baertchi a skilled centre to play with if he's not lined up next to Horvat. I still think they'll be penciled in together in preseason though.
  6. The two signings make our D look that much better, even without Tanev, I agree. My worry by not dealing him at the draft is that he'll suffer an injury during the season and we won't be able to move him at the TDL. If that's the plan of course, which I think it should be. Pray for a healthy season this year from our D-corps and moving into the draft next season we hopefully should have a few picks in the first round.
  7. Was thinking the exact same thing watching that interview, especially after just watching Lind do his. Guy has more facial than I do hahaha. All in all looks to be a pretty sokid draft. If Bennings eye for catching potential NHLers in later rounds continues, we can look forward to a few of these players in the bigs in the next couple years.
  8. I'm just not willing to give up on a 20 year old kid quite yet. The last month of the season showed that a player is capable of being rebuilt and while his stats didn't prove that, the eye test certainly did. Whatever was said or given to him as an off ice training program it appears by his physical changes that the message got through. Also reading some of his comments it seems the message may have gotten through his head. While it is a disappointment to a degree seeing Nylander playing so well and appearing to be exactly the type of player we need to replace H Sedin, I believe Virtanen will be an excellent 2nd liner and regardless of comparisons, that is a huge asset to have on your team. With Green as the coach that got through to him now being the Canucks coach, it's all up to Virtanen from here on out. The only way I'll lose faith for the guy is if he comes to camp in the same shape as he did last year.
  9. What makes you think that? A big reason Subban hasn't been given a legitimate shot yet could very likely be because of Travis Green. I'm sure JB speaks with Green when in need of a call-up and asks who's been looking good recently and deserves a chance. Subban not getting one speaks volumes to Green's influence imo.
  10. Inb4 this thread disappears into obscurity... I guess this means I have to retire my only named Canucks jersey now. Time for a Horvat jersey! Good luck Burrows. Heart and soul player, loved watching you over the years. Best of luck to you and your family in Ottawa.
  11. He's still under contract to play. I'm not disagreeing with you, I think he'd make a great coach. But I don't think that's how it works.
  12. All I can say is I'm sure glad you're not our GM.
  13. Where would you like him to go? Trade? Nobody will touch that contract. Waive to minors? Ridiculously disrespectful, short term and long term to future FA's. No. You play him when you do, sit him otherwise and allow him a honourable exit. That's how franchises earn class. Hey, it ain't like we're gonna win the cup whether he's in the lineup or not, right?
  14. That was good shooting before she forgot to count to 6.
  15. Piece of cake bud. Honestly though, 454 pages based on a guy who was never even drafted and ended up with 4 25+ goal seasons and an A on his sweater. Played his way through garbage hockey leagues, riding buses for a pittance, and working his ass off to make it to the show. Love him or hate him, he's a story of determination and will, and I for one will be damn proud to watch him retire in Canucks colours.
  16. This is the third time you've made me spit my sacred beer, Amish.
  17. Wow to these stats is all I can say. Levels the playing field of Horvat vs Monahan a little. That being said, as Derp says below... Any new Boesser news? Lol
  18. Ah okay thanks a lot. Interestingly enough, I've never noticed that in previous drafts as I'm sure this has happened before.
  19. I'm still a little confused. So if we got 53, we'd have our own second round pick that year I assume... So the best team in the league that year gets pushed out completely of the second round?
  20. Ohhhh okay. So when does eligibility kick in? Also, seems rather unfair there's no protection clause for this. I'm all for guys getting an education if they so choose but there ought to be protection for the team to whom they were drafted. I suppose that's the gamble you take, similar to drafting a Russian who you could lose to the KHL?
  21. Posted this question in the Boesser thread and realized this might be the place. I heard somewhere that Boesser may elect not to sign with the Canucks even though we drafted him and elect to go to free agency. Is there any truth to this and where does the criteria land on which players fit this. Thanks.
  22. Can somebody please explain how players drafted from the USHL can become free agents? Or did I misunderstand when I heard this.
  23. Oh of course you're right. Writing without thinking there. So whom else then?
  24. Really hope him and Cassels both make the U.S. squad along with Demko for the WJC this Christmas. Assuming Virt goes and hopefully McCann too it should make for a really entertaining tournament. What other prospects of ours have the chance to make it to their respective teams? Jasek for the Czech's?
