have you noticed that when fans of any team suggests trades, their team always wins the trades?

A big middle finger to anyone involved in MLM.
This happened a few years ago. My best friend (and his fiancé) invited me to Portland for a business opportunity, with most expenses paid. Everything but food. I was going to be on reading break from school, so I figured it would be atleast a fun weekend, even though I didn’t know why I was going there. Free trip, and I was young and stupid. Turned out to be a Amway affiliated event. World Wide Dream Builders. Probably 15,000 people were at the event? They filled the building where the winter hawks play. The event was just these people giving motivational speeches.
I felt uncomfortable at first, because the speakers are all people who’ve had success in the business. So their stories are going to be appealing... that’s the point... Just a little harmless brainwashing.
Then on night 1, a bunch of people that my friend knew, got together for some late night cult therapy. Talked about “our” feelings of life... everyone was completely sober... talked about our dreams, and finally the opinions of the brainwashing that happened earlier. Oh! And we each had to say something we learned that day... night 2 we drove around forever trying to find this very specific restaurant that the “diamonds” were eating at. Couldn’t find them, thank god. I made the best of the weekend and had a good time for what it was.
Anyways, unethical business having a huge get together in which my best friend and his fiancé had to pay hundreds of dollars to pay for themselves and myself to go. We were young, so that was a lot of money. I politely declined to join their pyramid scheme, and thanked them for the weekend. There was significant friction over me not wanting to be involved. I ended up paying for my hotel room and half the gas money. Probably would have had to pay for the event ticket if it wasn’t given to them for free.
He changed considerably after that trip. Started hanging out with these superficial guys, who could not be anymore stereotypical MLM bros. His life revolved around this business even though he was a college graduate who could be doing legitimate work. We grew apart, and our friendship pretty much ended after his wedding. The final straw was when his gift to the groomsmen was “1 Free” anything from their “store”. Forcing me to contribute to this bologna.
Lost my best friend of nearly 15 years due to MLM. I don’t know what made me think of this again.

My favourite quote from today's press conference:
That sounds like our top 6! Been clamoring for this for years, haven't we?

Weird to see Hamhuis and Bieksa still available as free agents. I wonder if either is considering retirement. And if so, would the Canucks bring them in on a one day contract?
-
Is it just me, or has the UFA rumour mill become eerily quiet leading up to the actual day?
-
Both July 1st and TDL have become less interesting than draft lottery and draft day, I think it's because the fans are starting to understand, with the exception of elite talents like Tavares and E. Karlsson, UFA's and trades do not significantly impact the teams. The media picks up the queue and devotes less time to them.
The draft, on the other hand, is the opposite.

For comparisons sake, Hughes out scored Makar in his draft year versus Makar’s draft + 1 year.
-
Hughes, Pettersson and Boeser on that first powerplay unit. My god...

Are you still following The Expanse? It's getting pretty wild, hey?

Eklund Rumour (huge grain of salt), Tavares planning on meeting with Canucks before UFA.
Here is the quote:
Quote“Tavares and Vancouver...
Was just told by a source that Tavares has planned to visit with Vancouver during his five day window leading up to July 1. This doesn't mean he is going to sign there, but it is perhaps most interesting because this is the first team I have heard mentioned in a "Tavares visit" which implies Tavares DOES plan to let this go to July 1 and visit teams.."This is most likely just click bait so I won’t bother to make a proper thread or post the link here to generate revenue for his site. You know where Hockey Buzz is if you want to find it.
What are your thoughts on this if you were to take a HUGE leap here and assume this rumour had any truth to it? Would you sign him?

Hey guys, I hear that Juolevi and Goldy hate each other because Goldy likes Starbucks' cappucinos.
-
Just heard Jordan Peterson speak live. Thoughts about him in general?

8th Nov 1971, Led Zeppelin released their fourth album. With no title printed on the album, and generally referred to as Four Symbols, The Fourth Album or Led Zeppelin IV it has gone on to sell over 37 million copies worldwide. The 19th century rustic oil painting on the front of the album was purchased by Robert Plant from an antique shop in Reading, Berkshire, England. The 20th century urban tower block on the back of the full gatefold LP cover is Butterfield Court in Eves Hill, Dudley, England. Remember, remember... seems that movie could become more relevant than ever.
