{Discussion} Is anyone else sick of Thomas Drance?
WEVEGOTMOTTE replied to WEVEGOTMOTTE's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Insufferable Idiot is a great take. Captures a lot. Columbus would be good for him also. -
Ref tells Jeff Skinner to F*** off
WEVEGOTMOTTE replied to Shekky's topic in General Hockey Discussion
The ref is probably jealous of how much money he makes. Worst contract for a team. Great contract for the player. Hope he invests it well. -
Is it just me?:) He is a guest on too many shows, The VanCast is unbearable with him on it, his pale face (reminiscent of a clown) is a major eyesore for television. An analytics dork who can't skate backwards and thinks Brad Hunt is a god. A wannabe of a person who is no longer with us. The questions at press conferences are long winded and bias, with shocking regularity, Petey even called him out recently. I could go on. Is anyone else tired of him?

I love Motte! Hence the name! However, I think given where this team is at if he can net a 2nd or a 3rd round pick at the deadline trade him and potentially resign him in the off season. He loves Vancouver, unless we trade one of Pearson, Myers or Miller by the ends of the year we will not have the cap space for him.

[Signing] Devils re-sign Jack Hughes
WEVEGOTMOTTE replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Give his agent credit. Way to get him top dollar. Also leaves the door open for a Pettersson and Rathbone for Jack and Luke Hughes:) -
To NYI: Elias Pettersson Jack Rathbone To Van: Matthew Barzal Both Players are struggling and a change of scenery could make a big difference. The islanders get an extra year on a player with club control and Rathbone could be a powerplay specialist. May need a throw in from the islanders to balance their cap. They have a lot of players on LTIR right now. Bring the kid home! Get er Done Trader Jim or whoever is the GM! Flame Away!

[Signing] Wild re-sign Nick Bjugstad
WEVEGOTMOTTE replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I do wonder if it is similar to what Kevin Labanc did in San Jose and maybe other players will follow suit. A lot of teams are up against the cap. A lot of contracts that were signed before the flat cap. He signed for 1 year 1 million and then half way through the season signed a 4 year 18.9 million dollar deal (4.725 cap hit). Will be interesting to see how Bjugstad performs this year. -

Would have loved him here for his size alone. -
If you could add 1 forward, 1 defenseman, 1 draft pick, one buy out who would it be? Bonus, what line combinations would you have? So - Who Should The Canucks Take At The Number 9 Spot?
WEVEGOTMOTTE replied to Patel Bure's topic in Canucks Talk
Mason Mctavish! -
Olli Juolevi is a talented offensive player with decent size. I was actually excited when the Canucks drafted despite thinking Tkachuk and Keller would be good offensive talents. D was a position of need and I thought it was better for the club long term to take a shot at this player. Since then, Hughes is the clear Powerplay Quarterback for the next 10 plus years. Rathbone may be a good secondary option and Schmidt is currently signed long term. Injuries have limited him physically as well as the time away recovering has not allowed him to develop at the rate we would like. I think there is still some trade value and cache from being a 5th overall pick for some teams to be interested. However in a flat cap world and out team is up against it, maybe now is the time for the team to be creative: His strengths are: His shot (especially along the wall and around the circle on the left side) His passing ability Overall offensive awareness Maybe trying him out on the third or second line wing, he would be decent defensively as a forward. Dustin Byfuglien and Brent Burns have been moved from D to forward and done well. Maybe it is his best chance to succeed in Vancouver. Just throwing it out there during the lull of the off season. Want to hear peoples thoughts and ready to hear it from the keyboard warriors. Go Canucks Go!

Pearson is a solid second line left winger. They do not grow on trees. Many others were tried with Horvat without success. He also has a winning attitude. Cap wise he is already making 3.75m. Baertschi and Sutters money combined is 7.73m which is going to Petey. I would think Pearson wants 4-4.5. If he produces 40 points in a regular season is fair value. Dollar value is basically $100,000's per hundred points. I trust him more than the wingers coming up in our system.
