The Calder Memorial Trophy NHL Rookie Of The Year
Pete M replied to ItTakesAnArmy's topic in Canucks Talk
Exactly...wait until Canucks' have a similar "D" as compared to StL, then watch EP40 produce...our "D" was garbage, and EP40 still got 66pts in 71 games. -
The Calder Memorial Trophy NHL Rookie Of The Year
Pete M replied to ItTakesAnArmy's topic in Canucks Talk
Auston Matthews won the Rookie of the year playing 82 games with 69 points and playing on a better team (JVR 62pts, Marner, Nylander, Kadri all with 61pts and Bozak with 55pts) compared to EP40 who played 11 less games (71 games played) with 66 points (3 less than AM) and playing on a worst team (Horvat 61pts, Boeser 56pts, Edler 34pts) than Toronto...both players led their respective teams in points their rookie year... It takes a good team to win the Stanley Cup...Binnington alone did not win the cup...look at the quality of "D" in front of him (Parayko (+20), Pietrangelo (+22), Dunn (+14), Bouwmeester (-3), Gunnarsson (+8) plus they had similar scorers compare to Vancouver...in comparison, their "D" was one of the best in the league, which helps with the goaltenders performance. People are, more than less, comparing Binnington's performance to Jake Allen's (mediocre) and Chad Johnson's (garbage) performances...mind you Binnington did play well. but the other two goalies did not, which inflates his value. -
[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
Pete M replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
What is sad (scary) is JB signed and overpaid for both these under achieving players...what's scary about it? "who will JB sign with all this cap money...once these under performers are gone?"...JB has gotten better with trades like trading for Pearson and Leivo, however, his track record with pro scouting isn't the best...it's kind of a scary record. Hope he keeps getting better with the trades and stays away from players that are on the downhill side of their careers. -
remember Sedins never really got going until they were 24 years old...need to give OJ, Gaudette, Woo and Hughes some time to develop. If anything, draft Broberg, bring back Tryamkin and Edler (2 years) and sign quality over quantity...that means guys like Sutter, Granlund, LE, Hutton and Tanev may have to go
-
yeah, sign Panarin to play with EP and get a digger for them to play hard in the corners.

I'm all for paying a player what he is worth...as a result, at this time, a bridge deal would make sense. We somewhat know what Brock is, but a 3 year deal would allow us to know what he really is....if he is really good, then he gets paid (when he is in his prime). $6.5M for 3 years with bonuses sprinkled in seems reasonable at this time. ...not that $6.5M per is not getting paid...lol

33 year old playing in the NHL...no matter how you look at it, he has had a great career....if it goes, 2 year deal, then 1 year contracts after 35 years old...this way, he will get what he wants if he still has what it takes...

Zegras could be the Oates in "Hull & Oates", which could equate to "Zegras & Boeser"....if he is still there at 10, then it definitely a pick to consider.
-
fix the "D" Jimmy....fix the "D" a lot of the problems will be solved
-
Better off shedding the LE contract and opening up a roster spot for a player in his prime that has skill and talent with the added cap space created by shedding the LE contract. Stay away from players that are long in the tooth (over 32)

heard that JB came over with the Boston scouting report and had the Canuck's scouting report to compare to...

Tryamkin is 24 years old...he hasn't reached his prime yet. Most players reach it at 26 through to 32 years of age...need to give him some time to show he can disappear...just like OJ...I'll put my money on Tryamkin being an impact player in ways that most players can't be...need to give the big fella an opportunity to succeed and show what he brings...projected to be a fan favourite, again. Most of the impact players in this years SCF are between 26 and 32 years old...in comparison, Tryamkin is just beginning
-
how about both being good...Tryamkin brings something that OJ doesn't have, and vise versa...those two paired together, playing big minutes is heading in the right direction...what I saw from Try when he did play as a 22 year old in the NHL is an element that not many players can bring...intimidation, able to make the first pass and a shut down "D" man (who can create a whole different environment by himself), the exact thing the Canucks need...get rid of the garbage...future looks bright with these two if OJ can stay healthy and Try stays in shape.

Tryamkin says Hi...
-
fix the "D"...period. JB will get the biggest bang for his buck if he does this.....then sign Panarin...lol
-
Cozens, then Broberg...build from the net out when picking in this position (10)...top 5 pick, choose BPA for sure (i.e., MT)....Broberg looks like a stud. Look at Blues "D", they have 4 top 2 Dmen...big reason why Binnington is playing well...."D" wins championships.

Now that is how a Sports network needs to cover Canuck games...Post game...lol. Raptors left it all on the floor and they're not done yet...more work to do....like how they are not satisfied. Enjoy the win, but not satisfied.

Need to give Lind the benefit of the doubt because of his early season injury and his first year pro...would also help if the Canucks get some talent at the center position in Utica. Also, having their best "D" (Sautner, Brisebos) sitting in the pressbox for the last 12 games of the season, and Schenn making the team did not help with anyone's production...when you consider it is a team game, losing your best "D" would cripple any team.

$6M for 3 years

Not getting good defencemen when they were available...quality over quantity. Settling for Y. Weber, P. Larsson, Bartkowski, Pouliot, MDZ etc, etc. Burns me ever since JB took over. p.s. time to move on from Tanev an Hutton.
