this doesn't apply to the vets....just watch what happens...can't wait to hear pro management types justify their position when the young players out play the likes of Gagner and LE. Picking Gagner and LE over players that out play them only weakens the team.

just like the Larson vs Stecher decision, when Stecher proved he was better than Larson but was sent down and Larson played a soft, deer in the headlight game. Interesting note....Stecher is not on the Canucks roster on the website....wonder if something is up or if this was just an over sight.

Just hope that the young players when they out play the vets in preseason will be played over the vets they've out played (i.e., Gagner, LE, MDZ). Preseason is the only time these players have to show their stuff....but pro management seem to always justify the decisions by stating "preseason doesn't matter". Sure over the course of the year, players get called up...only to sit in the press box and watch or sit on the bench and play 4 to 8 minutes, which is very limited chance to develop and build confidence at the NHL level. Last year the group of young players out played the group of vets when playing split squad...but all the vets were given spots over the young guys. Archie proved he belong, but was sent to Utica...and then all the comments about how soft the Canucks were appeared, yet they sent down a fourth line player that had grit and some skill over the players who played soft. Unfortunately, Archie had a serious injury in Utica and missed a lot of time. Remember Larson vs Stecher, decision which was obvious and laughable. All the pro management types can spin their story any way they like to support management...but in the end, results matter including win/loss record, goals for, goals against, team plus/ minus and place in the standings...and the Canucks have been bottom of league, even with the Sedins and vets in the line up, for the last three years. Knowledgeable fans do not ignore these results. Players like Dahlen, Archie, Lind, Gadjovich, MacEwen etc even if they show they are better than the placeholders will be sent down. This is okay because they can develop a year in Utica in order to be NHL ready next year (hopefully not passed over again when they out play the vets). Kind of sad for Archie, when he proved that he could play in the NHL, was passed over, then they went out and signed fourth line grinders, who when outplayed by Archie will get the spot over Archie.

Dahlen drives the net and is determined...he will get many goals for the Canucks.
-
Palmu and Gadjovich lighting it up in Utica with Lind, Boucher, MacEwen, and possibly Dahlen...Archie as muscle...looks like two good 1st and 2nd lines for the farm team. However, it would be better that one or two of these players are NHL ready this year and replace the placeholder vets. It is better development for them in the NHL if they can get 10+ minutes per game.

If Lind outplays JV...

As long as Gagner isn't blocking his development, then all is good. If (when) Dahlen out plays Gagner, then Dahlen should be on the team and Gagner can be depth or play for Utica. Canucks need skill, speed and players with hockey sense, which Dahlen has plenty.

relating to the calder selection this past year...it will be interesting to see if Barzal can produce like he did without Tavares as his team mate. Brock did it with very little help and made his own chances.

Good that Pouliot signed a one year deal. Hope he gets better and proves himself.

especially with Gaudette and Boeser on the team...team USA.

I like how focused and well spoken he is....he reminds me of St Louis and the focus and intensity that StLouis had...seems like a winner.

Wanted Dobson (a can't miss pick that is only going to get bigger and faster...one of the young draft picks)....however, I'm going to reserve judgement on Hughes and hope for the best.
-
Upgrade on the bulldog (Biega)....to a Chinese bulldog that is bigger and faster...top 4 potential, this may turn out to be a solid pick. Biega like but bigger and faster...not bad.

Gaudette played with Sikura, who is a skilled play maker/ set up man. They were a great duo. Gaudette needs to play with a set up man like Pettersson or even Boeser, who is a very good passer with good vision. Playing Gaudette with grinders who have little hockey sense is a lost cause.

It is written, so it shall be...it is worrisome.

Proof that hockey is a team game....Team Sweden is a better team than the Canucks (Canucks are a bad team)....can't have one without the other (i.e., need a good goalie to have a good team and need a good team to have a good goalie). Without both of these on the team, the team struggles. This is a good example of Nilsson proving he is a good goaltender. Team Canada's goalies, on the other hand, were mediocre at best, the reason why Canada did not medal. If they had better goaltending, they would have been playing for gold.

Congrats to Nilsson on winning gold and being named to the tournament all-star team. Proof is in the pudding...Nilsson is a good goalie and therefore, our "D" sucks. Too many fire drills in our own end and unable to make the first pass. On the other hand, Sweden's "D" made the first pass and limited the fire drills by moving the puck (making the first pass) and skating it out on the rush.Very mobile "D" and physical when need be. Making the first pass is so important in the game of hockey. Agree that Cloutier needs to go and bring in a Swedish goalie coach to work with the two Swedes.

Congrats to Gaudette on being selected as the Hobby Baker award winner!

I heard the player needed to play 10 games or more in the NHL to burn a year of ELC?

...considering Sutter has 8 goals 11 assists = 19 pts in 54 games @ $4.3M a year, and LE has 10 goals 13 assists in 50 games....he would be a good deal with 30 pts and 10 goals. No brainer him making this team considering this team is really bad. Seems criminal for an expansion team to be allowed to take from the bottom 3 teams.
