  1. Northeastern (Gaudette) to play Massachusetts in the East Division conference Quarter Finals (best of 3). Northeastern got a bye into the Quarters. Win-Win, if NE loses, we might see Gaudette sooner than later; if NE wins, then Gaudette keeps his National Championship dream alive. Games March 9 and 10 (this weekend)...if a 3rd game is needed, then the game will be played on March 11.
  2. Probably more realistic for next year considering carrying four rookies is highly unlikely (5 if you include OJ). If anyone, it's Gagner who is the weak link and could be packaged in a trade....Granlund seems to be too much of a light weight, but is serviceable until the real skill and talent is ready. Could bring Vanek back and trade Gagner for a bag of pucks and play Gaunce and Dowd as depth. Can really see how a team can get watered down with a few weak links.
  3. Just throwing lines together....never really thought of a #1 line...roll four lines and put together a killer PP.
  4. Gaudette making the team next year looks like a very good possibility...could see this in one or two years. Tkachuk, Gaudette, Boeser Kane, Bo, JV Baer, Petterson, Dahlen Gaunce, Sutter, Archie (Bold indicates rookies) Tram, Gud Juolevi, Stecher Tanev Pouliot (Pouliot needs to get better) Lind, Gadjovich in junior for another year, or if NHL ready can trade with Dahlen or others Goldy, Boucher, Dowd, LE depth Granlund, Hutton, MDZ, Edler, Gagner, Vanek, LE trade bait or depth...don't know what to do with LE if above are NHL ready. If not NHL ready, then substitute depth players for bold players. If Tram doesn't come over, then Edler can play out his contract. Gaudette and Tkachuk look ready; however, Tkachuk could spend another year in college. 2018 draft, pick Dmen, after taking Tkachuk with first pick, pick dmen at 33-34 pick and 66-68 pick...if good ones are available or pick BPA. I don't think the Canucks will need the Sedins...somehow JB has to get over bringing in old vets.
  5. If Pettersson becomes a Backstrom, then JB's done good...real good. I'll forget about Vilardi (as long as he doesn't become Getzlaf 2 and/ or Koptar 2)
  6. One thing about this pick, JB is counting on chemistry with Dahlen, which is a good thing and I hope it works out. Just need to have Virtanen have chemistry with Boeser and Bo. Two to three years from now Boeser, Bo, Virt Dahlen, Pettersson, Goldy Baert, Granlund, LE Boucher, Sutter, Lind (Gadjovich) Seems like a small sized team....cup bound, I don't think so.
  7. Game 7 vs Chicago...enough said...good luck Burr, I believe Canuck nation is cheering you on no matter where you play. Thanks for the memories.
  8. I remember watching a Sedin interview where they were asked how they changed to become successful NHL players. The Sedins first 3 years were disappointing to a point where they thought about staying in Sweden to play; however, the 4th year, they went back to Sweden to train and decided to start playing the game they knew how to play that got them drafted. From that point on, the Sedins excelled and started to play to expectation. They started playing their way. Jake, on the other hand, used his size, speed, skill and physicality to produce at the junior level (when he wanted to). Even at the junior level, he was inconsistent. At the NHL level, those physical attributes, the ones Jake used in junior to produce, are not as dominant because there are more bigger, faster and skilled players. Therefore, Jake needs to learn how to play a pro game in addition to using his physical attributes. This might explain why he is thinking rather than reacting to the play, which puts him a step behind the play. May be Jake needs to rely more on those physical attributes, the ones that got him drafted, and be confident in his abilities in order to play his game. The inconsistency, however, is something he needs to eliminate from his game because it has always been there.
  9. Virtanen's only negative is his consistency in bringing his big game...some nights playing for the hitmen, he was invisible...in fact, Tambellini and Rankin showed up more than Virtanen I have to say, he was noticeable in every game at the young stars tourney.
  10. Exactly... One year removed from shoulder surgery...he may be more consistent than last year...let's hope this is the case. A power forward that knows how to play the game and the role...Go Canucks!
