  1. There definitely was a lot of individual play with the Nucks, which amounted to flip and chase....it is amazing how keeping it simple works because simple allows players to execute with speed because players knows where their team mates are on the ice if things are kept simple...KISS principle works in a fast pace sport. Successful hockey is played the same at all levels....the attack, regroup and zone exits all need work...but they need to keep it simple...if the other team adjusts to what they're doing, then they have to know what to do to change it up. For example, if the attack is set up off the rush with the triangle by taking the puck wide over the blueline and the other team starts to stand up at the blueline, then the Nucks need to dump it in and set up their forecheck...the quicker a team can adjust the more advantage it has....another advantage a team can exploit is the opportunities that come from having a quick transition and a quick mind set by transitioning from offense (when a team has possession of the puck) to defense (when a team gives up possession of the puck)...the quicker a team can transition from offense to defense creates opportunities...players need to quickly understand when they have possession they switch to offense (no matter what zone they are in on the ice), and when they don't have the puck, they switch to defense...the quicker they do this the more advantage. or just implement the Pat Quinn way of playing the game, where the D overlaps with the Forwards on the rush and the Forwards overlap with the D on the backcheck...a 5 man system going back and forth up and down the ice....fans only need to watch the 1994 Canucks to see this type of play in action.
  2. Imagine if JB signed Eric Staal instead of LE...Staal would have been the exact player we needed to get us past Vegas...considering LE didn't even play the last few games....opportunity cost is what this is...Staal was available the same year LE signed and Staal signed for 3.5M for 3 years with Minny...coulda, shoulda, woulda.
  3. One of the best trades ever in Canucks history?...considering the 1st pick is 24th or higher...we definitely need JT.
  4. the key going forward is the young "D" who are ready to take the next step need to take over from Tanev and Edler in order to make them the 3rd pairing guys. or push them out all together...we need the younger guys like OJ, Rafferty, Tryamkin, Brisebois and Rathbone to make this happen....however, a trade to get Dobson would help.
  5. the D's puck handling was horrible...it could have been because of lack of strategy, but the execution was bad. Even the forwards couldn't get the puck out when they were standing two feet from the blue line...a lot of games are lost and won at the blue lines.
  6. Lessons learned from the experience with LE and even the Sedins in their later years....players do fade when they get older.
  7. Tryamkin will be an option...I'm guessing they talked with him and his agent about the schedule with the COvid lock down...they decided that he play one more year in Russia to keep him playing hockey, then bring him over next year ...depends on when the KHL season will be over. JB is on record saying he likes Tryamkin's play. Pearson's lack of foot speed was obvious as was Boeser's.
  8. Had a little time now to digest the team's performance this playoffs....they showed a lot of what they have good moving forward and a lot of what they need moving forward. This off season will be a crucial one for JB with the decisions he needs to make. I hope he makes smart, sound decisions and promotes within, which will allow this team another year to grow....next year probably will not be a show me year, but rather a development year with new defence and young forwards getting a taste. It's the following year 2021-2022, which will be a show me year if they use the coming year to develop the players who are ready to take the next step and take over the bottom six roles both on forward and defence. This playoffs showed that the team is not far away....a couple of puck moving dmen and a Kole Lind, Putsgoalsin, and Hoglander away from getting what this team needs since our core players are now our young players. See ya....Sutter, LE, Rous, JV, Pearson, Fanta, Benn, and Stech (sorry Stech).
  9. Tryamkin, Rafferty and OJ....the changing faces of the "D"...some shut down and puck moving potential in them.
  10. Sell High and buy low....Demko stock is high after that performance. or do they keep him and trade Marky?
  11. Yet again, Quinn Hughes outscores Makar in their rookie year, but this time in the Stanley Cup playoffs...
  12. that time out showed the understanding of the moment...when I see all lines dominating us like that, it was a team system and guys working hard in the system.
  13. It was great while it lasted! Beat the defending cup champs and took the favourites to win the stanley cup to seven games and tied with less than 6 minutes to play. If Vegas wins the cup, then we would have lost to the Stanley cup champs in seven games....not bad....Go vegas go! See ya next season, over.
  14. Vegas was definitely the better coached team, they were all over us.
  15. One of the worst games I've seen them play because they didn't have anything in the tank
  16. Need some urgency on the PP, which means they need to outwork the PK!
