  1. Not sure if this has ever been discussed so apologies if that’s the case. Im an older, social media illiterate dude so I’m reaching out to you folks with an idea and the potential implementation of said idea. I’m wondering if there is a way to torpedo a reporter/agency who is annoying Petterson? For example: if jimmy from blah blah blah website keeps asking Petterson about his contract status at training camp, can we the fans, negatively effect his company, business or job? In a way that will make him wake the heck up to the realization that we the fans care that Pettersons wishes are being adhered too? Can we Effect jimmy in such a way that he changes his line of questions and behaviour? my initial thought is that any press is good press but that can’t be the case if we the fans are truly organized in our goal… I feel that the intentions and line of questioning from the media don’t always align with what I want the players to be accosted with and Pettersons wishes being respected could go a long way into positively swaying his perception of Vancouver, then subsequently his next contract negotiations… cheers
  2. Not sure we are speaking the same language. Petey wants to win. OEL got in the way of that and hockey ops removed a barrier. Yes there are long term cap ramifications but those are not felt by Petey in the slightest. I think players operate in the here an now more so than us arm chairers.
  3. Yep. We needed the room but means nothing until we see what their staff can do with it. Atleast it’s not beavis n butt-head’ing every single hockey ops department. let’s see what they can do .
  4. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but RT coached oel for 4 years. He more so than anyone would understand his worth and career trajectory. management would have been working in lockstep with tocchet on this one.
  5. Sorry if I struck a nerve. I mentioned Clancy for a reason and I’m wondering if you missed that part. We need to hit on our pro scouting.
  6. I think the shrewd move moving forward is taking on 2 years of bad cap with a sweetener. In a player Clancy thinks is an upgrade on oel. Maybe that’s how this deal was sold to Aquaman.
  7. But does Petterson resign in this kind of environment ?
  8. This buyout is great news. If nothing else, it shows that ownership is wiling to give. and take
  9. Goose - He brought up Carolina because that is what every other gm negotiating with bear will be doing. He doesn’t have a long enough track record as a solid nhl contributor. There might be a team out there willing to take a flyer on him but I don’t think it’s likely at his qualifying offer. Not this summer atleast.
  10. Bear hasn’t earned / proved much of anything yet, that’s the unfortunate bit. Seems like van valued his potential as a #5 but now it’s hard to pay him as such. Poor timing fr everyone accept woo and his believers.
  11. Button just put out another ranking - Lots of interesting movement. My take away is that the 3rd tier of 6-20 ish is a shit show with tonnes of talent. Kinda makes me want to re visit a Miller trade involving a top 20 pick. https://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/craig-s-list-after-impressive-u18-showing-axel-sandin-pellikka-moves-into-top-5-1.1960662
  12. Pearson, dick and podz flanked by oel and poolie. Sounds like that could be our our matchup lin which could be great. As a 5 man unit there’s potential to tread water and it frees up 2 leathal scoring lines.
  13. I suspect Shaw had a vote when it comes to Poolie and he seems like an ok UFA signing. 28, RHD and big.... even gubranson netted us a return in Pearson. Worst case Ontario I think benning and co figure the same can be done with this guy and I agree.
  14. Jake would spend 95% of a shift not skating and then sneak attach unsuspecting opponents from behind. His take away stats were just that, a stat. His 200ft game was aweful from day 1 and you googlie, anoong a few others, gave this guy way too much rope.
  15. There is a disproportionate amount of prospects in the jan-April range which is why I believe it very possible that a disproportionate amount of top nhl dmen are may-august. Probably something to do with the way dmen tend to develop and these late birthdays have to scratch and claw to stay relevant as a prospect but then come 21, 22 years old they are on an even playing field physically but have gone through that earlier adversity. I’m not sure of any of the stats but it seems very plausible to m with dmen because of their quirky development path. I would assume though that most star forward talent is equally represented
  16. This is not a theory. It’s widely known in the scouting industry and is common sense, in my opinion....If it helps, try thinking about it more along the lines of mining value from draft eligible players that aren’t quite as developed and have, on average, been a whole 6 months behind in age compared to their peers. Or just read outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.
  17. If jake had 3 brain cells then he would have upped his value in the playoff bubble. Instead, ...a who cares. Check out his latest tattoo!
  18. Jake sucks and Seattle will not select him without an incentive. it’s funny because for years there was so much healthy debate here but now there is nothing. Please Not even worth its own thread
  19. I don’t think we have both Sutter and beagle next year. I think it’s more likely we have neither and Miller moved to the 3C and replaced by Hoagy on line 1. depending how Lind looks down the stretch JB might allocate him a spot in the bottom 6 for next year.
  20. Moron is right. It’s 3 years
  21. I’m very torn as well as to if pod should come over for a few games. The way his game is projecting, he will have more value to a team than an arbitration case may be able to justify so I don’t see him signing a huge second contract. As a fan there will be some relief and transparency to just see him sign now but that’s negligible. It might just come down to what Pod is most comfortable with.
  22. As with all bieksa jokes it had very real undertones of truth. He said something along the lines of “you can’t wear #96 in Vancouver for obvious reasons and then #88? It was time for this guy to go”. I took it with a grain of salt but it is just another piece of the puzzle when trying to figure out this guys character.
  23. I don’t trust either but if I Haaaad to chose I would go with sekeres over macintyre all day long.
  24. There are a lot of posters upset and the common theme seems to be that GB is a bad “salesman”. Only problem is these same posters show no competency in evaluating a real hockey player. Do we blame career mode??
  25. Hobey baker and 33 points yes. Still had no value none the less so I think the real issue here is your ability to evaluate a hockey player.
