The chance of playoffs is almost zero. Only choice is is this the leadership group you want making decisions about the future. I would hope the answer would be clear but there really isn’t a rush now but before deadline things need to be decided.

Thats not how draft lottery works, take our position and subtract 3, thats how lottery works for us.

I hope he doesn't get a chance to hire a new coach before he is relieved. Having to live with enough of his decisions. If it is time for someone to go it is time for all of them to go.

Kyle Rittenhouse. Murder or self defense ?

Illegally purchased and transported an assault weapon. Brought it to a large public gathering where the expectation was violence. Shoe on the other foot, if a black man illegally purchased and transported an assault weapon and brought it to a Trump white supremecist rally and killed people he would have hung by now. -
This should be very uninteresting. How many press conferences has he had to give to try and explain why the team he has put together sucks so bad. A few every season. Unless personal changes, nothing to see here.

For those who say it's been 8 years of Benning...
DrJockitch replied to dougieL's topic in Canucks Talk
Rathbone is the borderline player between NHL and AHL. Every team has a Woo, decent second rounder that may turn into a player but this isn’t his first season as GM it is his 8th. He has had a chance to pass numerous draft classes through the system up to the big club. 1 drafted regular d-man on team after eight years, One. -

Sure, sure can’t blame everything on one failed prospect but this is 8 years in and he has one drafted d-man on team, one borderline between the big club and the AHL. Also that puts him 2/4 on his very high draft picks. Need to hit better than that especially if have a habit of trading high first rounders. -

If I had to quickly encapsulate why Benning should go I would look at the D. After 8 years of draft and development our D 9 deep is: Trade UFA Draft UFA UFA UFA UFA, UFA, draft. And the one Trade there, he traded three UFAs for. Bottom 6 has mostly been similarly filled. -
I think JT Miller should be first to go. Just age and some other issues there, team is a few years away from competitive. Frankly would listen to offers for any D not named Hughes. Kind of think it is worth testing the waters on Boeser as well. I don't think this team is close with Pettey not flying but think he needs to have a longer go before we do anything there. Bottom six has been a mess but not much value there and if Benning is around, don't want him trying to fix it with spending which is his usuall MO. We need picks and picks and picks at this point. The retool failed but there are a few nice young pieces to keep, primarily Demko, Hughes, EP, Hoglander, Garland and Bo. Will see with Podz but like much of his game. The rest I would have on the auction block.

Francesco Aquilini To meet with Jim Benning today

Plan? trade more picks to try to win now is pretty much only plan to do anything now. Not the time, looks like time to rebuild the retool. -

I see the summary of this is Benning was hired to: 1. Give the Sedin's a last Hurrah but failed miserably. 2. Rebuild but is failing miserably. Common theme here, failed miserably. -

I don't think there is an easy out at this point. I thought pretty clear at the time as Linden was talking to the other GMs he trusted around the league and openly discussed that the consensus was can't rush the rebuild, then he got fired almost immediately. Aquillini has been clear his main goal is to see the team win the cup before his very elderly father dies, I think that pressure is a big problem for the club. I do feel that we are still lacking the two hardest thing to get, a number one centre and a quality right shot D. Petey needs to go to the wing. We don't need a super dynamic scorer for his centre, we need a body that can open up the ice. -

So Linden and Benning disagreed. Linden thought stick to the rebuild, can't rush things, Benning said we can rush things and be good in a couple years. Linden got fired. Guess who was right, guess who told the owner what they wanted to hear. Time for Benning to go. -
After the opening home stand and letting 19G in 3 road games while having the worst PK this league may have ever seen despite solid goaltending, it is a wonder that no heads have rolled. Only sensible reason I can see is there is a job search going on.
-
Haha. Got names mixed up in head. Yeah my bad.

Another 7 goals allowed and I think Green is gone. If no miraculous recovery Benning at end of year. Xxxx(oops) would probably be interim. Don’t bring Associate coach in unless you knew this was distinct possibility.

Well that was a pleasant but unexpected surprise. Nice to see one of the special teams click at least. We have been getting good secondary scoring this year, it is the primary that has been missing. Looks like starting to wake up. Hopefully this starts a string of good play or it will be a very steep climb to the playoffs very soon. -
So Rogers straight up lied about vaccination status but hopes only to get a fine. Kane lied and got a quarter of a season. Hmmm, wonder what defines the difference in treatment between these two players other than the leagues.
