  1. It was a direct impact not a twisting injury so interosseous membrane is probably okay. IM nail in tibia, fibula can be plated or left alone depending on situation. Probably a couple months till back on skates. Shouldn’t be out all season.
  2. It is great that you have the background to interpret that data. Most people don’t, and trust me I talk to a lot of people who don’t have the background and then try to interpret that information although usually with a pre-determined end point. The results are about what you would expect, frequently the exact opposite of what the data says. At this point I have talked to hundreds of people about this and I have a background in much of this, most people who think they shouldn’t get the vaccine because they have problems with their heart or are imunocompromised or whatever are usually the ones who need it most. Ultimately the medical guideline is a simple one in Canada, if you have a defined allergy to one of the components in both shots and have been seen by allergist to demonstrate this you can get a medical exemption, if you were one of the half dozen people globally who got myocarditis or pericarditis after getting the shot you get a medical exemption. Anything else is a personal choice you are making.
  3. COVID has proven something that scientists never knew. Viruses can understand irony.
  4. If Sutter were here I think a Gadjo-Sutter-Lockwood line would have been a great 4th line. Defence, energy, speed, hitting in spades and going straight at the net.
  5. Don’t know if he is any good but I want Otto Somppi and I want him bad.
  6. I think his boss knows what’s going on. He just told everyone to back off. He doesn’t owe us an explanation. Benning has been fully aware of Hamonic’s issue since before the first time he signed him. Would be nice to have everyone here but that almost never happens anyway.
  7. JR looked so excited to get a hit on Dube. Finally someone he could win a physical battle with. Nice hit too.
  8. Purely for preseason fun I would love to see Gadjo-Bo-Lockwood for a game. the way the Gadjo-Wouters-Lockwood line played this would just be so much fun with Bo on the middle. I still am not sure how the forward lineup comes together. We saw a few times last night where we had Garland or Hogs with Petan and Hunt on the ice and got absolutely physically dominated with all those smurfs on at once. I just can’t see Green playing Bo between Hoglander and Garland. They may not play like small players but that doesn’t mean they aren’t. I also don’t have a clue who is going to be 4th line centre. As I said when we signed Sutter, the problem with him is that when you hire him to do a job, you need to also hire someone else that can do the job and so far nobody has really stepped in to the role. Especially since this needs to be a PKer.
  9. I guess that is the difference between live and TV. I thought Hunt was one of our worst players tonight. Skated miles and miles but did nothing. We put out a pretty terrible lineup against a team not to far off Calgary’s opening roster. I think you could see we just started on systems because a lot of the young guys just looked like they were thinking about where should be and what should be doing. That will improve with some more practice. I agree with a lot here that Podz wasn’t great today. I hope he settles in and starts to improve steadily. We have gotten so used to rookies coming in and being big pieces right away that when one takes a little more standard path it seems strange. Also a lot of culture shock going on. If coach Green is true to his word though, Gadjo is beating him out for a spot on wing at this point.
  10. Stinker tonight. The young guys, Rathbone and Podz in particular look like thinking too much. thought nice game again for Gadjo, OJ has pretty good game. Not a very good lineup we put out tonight.
  11. Haha, we have successfully hijacked the thread with cat pics. Crash CDC indeed.
  12. Nice snow bengal. Ours is a three year old female though not snow, she glitters in the sun. Sweetest cat have had, unless your another cat.
  13. Great value for Petterson. There is no version of this world where Quinn should be making more than Pettey.
  14. It makes zero difference as far as risk of exposure but a big difference as to his risk of bringing it home. It is still very protective especially in someone young and healthy, it just isn’t 100%. Best thing he can probably do if vaccinated or unvaccinated is play on a team in the lowest risk situation and at that time this mean a Canadian team with less fans in the crowd, and there are only 2 of those, one of which he has a contract with.
  15. I think the point of the thread was to hear what people's reasoning is from a non-judgemental standpoint which I know is hard. It has been too politicized and at this points emotions and feelings are taking over logic and attacking just turns up the heat in a bad way. Moot point as it is now merged with the toxic COVID thread.
  16. I think the bigger issue would be that the vaccine may not be as effective for you, Alf is right though somewhat indelicate in his statement. The mRNA vaccines are not viral particles, they just encode one small part of the virus and doesn’t include the vast majority of what you would need to replicate virus. Ultimately the immunocompromised are much higher risk for adverse reaction to the virus and decreased efficacy of the vaccine but likely at less risk of side effects by the nature of the immunocompromise.
  17. There are a few live-attenuated vaccines around still, just not for COVID. The AZ and JanJ are live viruses, but they are modified monkey-pox, not COVID and can’t replicate in humans.
  18. I am not one to spend time criticizing the coaches, I can recognize they know more about hockey than me. But, when we got Garland the sentiment was finally a winger to play with Bo, and with Dickenson he may finally be freed up to play more of an offensive role. Green seems determined to continue exactly what he has done the last few year, Pearson-Bo-Winger X as shutdown line. This time PTO Chiasson. Maybe Bo will slide up to the Garland line when EP signs of JT goes back to wing maybe not. Oh well, first time we start to struggle lines will go in the blender anyway.
  19. I would also add that the documented idea that vaxxed and unvaxxed can spread the virus is something that needs to be challenged. This falls into the argument that only two numbers exist 0 and 100 and there is nothing in between. Vaxxed are much less likely to catch and spread the virus period. Is it 100%, no but that does not make it 0. It is in fact much closer to 100% than is being portrayed. I also have to wonder how thin someone's skin is when they get told they can't go to a hockey game because of the risk they pose to everyone else and think that is bigotry, it is consequences and a fair one.
  20. Interesting. This is not mRNA or attenuated monkeypox like AZ and JnJ. The dry powder inhalers are common and very easy to use, cheap, well that is a debatable if anyone has had to buy these for their asthma. Certainly and interesting alternative if it pans out.
  21. Everything is rumour and should be taken that way. Tomorrow is the last day to opt out of the season for COVID/vaccine related reasons.
  22. Not going to let negotiations color my opinion of the players. Benning has been very good with RFA contracts outside of Sutter and that was a long time ago (well, that and Jake). It is the UFAs he has been off the rails for. Just hope it gets done soon and ideally Pettey is locked up long term.
