Hope they send him straight to Abby. Good things could happen there. Play him with Podz and see what happens. Better to win in Abby than what is going to happen in Van.

Easily our best centre prospect. There really isn’t a second best.

The time to get upset was the summer when they signed JTM before Bo. Now this is the logical conclusion. To me it makes the JTM signing, or lack of moving, even more egregious because this is now free fall full tank mode. Our number 2 c is now JTM without any other options. Raty absolutely fills a glaring hole in our organization, a centre prospect of any kind. Looks like a potential 2/3 guy plays a physical game. Concerns about pace and slow release but hard shot and physical. Good size too. With him we are still short a few good C prospects, we just are even more short on RHD. ‘Hope this is the first move of many. Isles look like they should finish around where we did last year which puts us where a lot of the best D in the class are expected to go. ‘We need to get a lot of money off the wing now. Beauvillier has 4.1M cap hit so even more cap distributes to the wing. ‘Brock, Garland need to go soon. I dream JTM goes to Carolina but know it won’t happen, it just makes too much sense for both teams. Imagine JTM once Brindamour got him in shape and in the Carolina structure.

With a 50 contract limit how do we keep all 52 small wingers. ‘I know Raty is a guy that dropped a lot but don’t remember the circumstances. Mid first rounder is nice. Another small winger just goes to type. Trader Jim getting to work, really needs to move at least two of JTM, Brock and Garland now, preferably all 3. Some point he needs to address the d as well, not just collect every winger under 6 ft in the league.

[Rumour] Canucks getting calls on Thatcher Demko
DrJockitch replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Fantastic player and all around seems like good guy. Significant worries about his durability are absolutely fair. Also significantly concerned that what this teams needs to be is really bad, a healthy Demko drags them to the middle. We may be able to scrape into the playoffs once or twice over the length of Demko’s contract if everything goes right. Currently it is looking more like that is not a great bet especially if we are about to trade one of 2 NHL centres with no plan to replace him. A haul for Demko may be a hard thing to turn down but we need a succession plan like someone IC identifies coming in another move. Unless we are going full tank then all bets are off. Everything but EP available if the price is right (unfortunately I think this is the right plan). -
The fantasy community understands and would have predicted this and JTM. The first year after signing big contracts is almost always terrible. I also figured we would probably see Markstrom’s game fall off the longer he was away from Ian Clark. Should be noted though that last year at this time Calgary had almost an identical record as now, they just got hot the rest of the way. Sutter may not survive this but some of the decline is not unexpected but yeah they are worse than expected. BB in Calgary doesn’t really seem like a great fit but who knows.

Team needed tearing down and rebuilding when they hired Torts, owner fired Gillis and hired the guy who said I can do it the Bruin way without a rebuild. ‘Became clear this doesn’t work so they fired Benning 5 years late and hired JR saying the exact same thing and following the exact same plan. ‘We know where the problem is and have no power to change it. I already spend nothing on the Canucks anymore and will continue to do so as long as this goes on. ‘When Linden (who wanted to do it right) left, I like many wanted to see an experienced POHO come in to guide his hand, well JR proved me a fool, he has been worse in almost every way so far. ‘Only good thing so far is Abbotsford and even there the incompetence is creeping in with the unnecessary loss of LP.
-
They have been very consistent so far. They say the right things and do the opposite. Need to clear cap and retool the D, so spend cap on more wingers backing themselves further into a corner that every GM can see and is trying to take advantage of. ‘The on-ice plan looks exactly like Benning’s and somehow they have been worse from a PR side.

George W was a terrible president but seems like a cool guy in retirement. Heck probably better president than the last 2.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
DrJockitch replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The answer to this should depend on the position of the team. A team that is looking to add to get over the jump then getting Horvat would make sense. A team going into a rebuild and needing cap room then trading Horvat for Zegras would make a lot of sense. ‘For the Canucks who are neither building a contender nor looking to rebuild it is pretty much a crap shoot as to what they would do. From past patterns though, trading an established NHL centre for a soft winger pretty much is on brand. -

You can say that about any move made by any GM on this club. -

Rick Tocchet will Be a Good HC for Us (Randip Janda / Frank Corrado)
DrJockitch replied to TFerguson's topic in Canucks Talk
This is why a more extensive rebuild is needed. There is no quick fix. -
Rick Tocchet will Be a Good HC for Us (Randip Janda / Frank Corrado)

Benning formula of retool. Spending on UFAs like we are a competitive team, burning assets for older failed prospect to fill the age gap, fighting to get to the middle with no thought of getting to the top. Winger after winger after winger without any thought to drafting or developing right D or centres especially right shot ones. The Benning formula. -
Rick Tocchet will Be a Good HC for Us (Randip Janda / Frank Corrado)
DrJockitch replied to TFerguson's topic in Canucks Talk
Still think was better to let Bruce ride out the season while the sell-off begins. ‘What good is another coaching bump. ‘Mirroring last season, coaching change too late to make a difference other than to draft position. Complain about lack of D and spend more on wingers without addressing the issue but at least we are going to trade one of two NHL centres in the entire organization. ‘What has JR spent on wingers so far Mik, JT, Kuz, Lazar, Joshua almost everything he has done is to enhance the area of greatest organizational depth while doing nothing in the areas of weakness. Back to selling off pics and prospects for cap room. Benning’s formula for another few years. -
May have something to do with being bad teams that aren’t Toronto or Montreal. ‘The Canucks deserve any and all bad press they have received this year. In their entire existence this has mostly been a dysfunctional team and this year outstrips all others for dysfunction.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Andrei Kuzmenko
DrJockitch replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Keep hoping for the other shoe to drop and to hear that Brock or Garland have been traded so we can pay for this. Kind of handicaps us to be buying cap with prospects again if can’t. Will be on the market looking to replace Bo at C with less cap space if we don’t move both since seems like Miller likely staying. -

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Andrei Kuzmenko
DrJockitch replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think that was more towards Brock at the beginning of the year but as the year progressed and Bo’s price kept going up so that has changed. ‘The way I see it trading Bo signals a big rebuild and should necessitate the trade of Miller, Brock, Garland and anyone on D not named Hughes that they can trade without paying big. ‘Without Bo this team has one NHL centre and none in the minors, not a path to success. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Andrei Kuzmenko
DrJockitch replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Just what I would like to see not necessarily where they play or what I expect. Major surgery called for but really who thinks that will actually happen with this management group. I think Brock and Garland need to go. Would love to see Bo back but think that ship has sailed. I would have traded JTM last year when he had better value but would love to get out of that contract, Carolina are you listening. My suspicion is will see Bo traded and one of Brock or Garland and that we will be even worse next year when there isn’t a local shiny prize at the top of the draft. -

Boeser has been replaced. Now he needs to find new home. ‘As much as I want a tear down I am glad they re-signed Kuz, great fit with Pettey. My hope for next season’s forward line up from what is here. mik-EP-Kuz xxx-xxx-Podz xxx-xxx-xxx Joshua-xxx-Lazar.
