[PGT] Chicago Blackhawks at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 24, 2023

Problems fixed, beat worst team in the league. Will be fun looking up at them in the standings in a couple years and for the decade that follows. -
[Proposal] Miller to Florida

I hope his nonsense doesn’t continue. Would be helpful if he came into camp in shape next season. -

He is pretty lazy on the back check especially on his turnovers because he has to put on a show about how upset he is that he caused another breakaway. -
We don’t draft and develop bottom six players or 3rd pairing D and have to keep spending on UFAs or trading prospects to get them forever perpetuating the problem.

Pettersson's Composure and Focus are Commendable

I love EP as a player. ‘I don’t like making the scoring stars the captain as a tactic to try to keep them around. C or not everyone knows this is his team and he gets enough press responsibility. ‘If Schenn comes back I would use him as a transitional captain until Podz is ready. -
[PGT] Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 21, 2023

So far the difference between this management group and the last has been the degree of unjustified public arrogance. PR disaster after PR disaster made after questionable hockey decision after questionable hockey decision. Bruce was the best of them and one of the best coaches and best guys in the history of the league. This wasn’t a coaching problem. ‘Management knows the team needs major surgery but has shied away from big changes when they have had the chance. I would say I appreciate them not wasting assets if they hadn’t been wasting so many assets on the Corey Stillmans and Jack Studnickas of the league. Glad Miller finally in good enough shape to really slam his stick around on the bench without getting fatigued. Losing Bo because we signed him and Brock sets the direction for this franchise and it isn’t up and really isn’t down just more of the mediocre. -
An unwillingness to be bad for a short term so that we could be good for the long-run has led us to be bad for the long-run

Edit- Rick Tocchet Expected To Be Next Head Coach
DrJockitch replied to BertaNuck's topic in Canucks Talk
We are near the bottom with no chance of making the playoffs. Moves made now should be about losing hockey games this year so that we can rebuild it for next. ‘Futile move changing the coach now. Will either give us a bump and ruin our draft position or put half a year of stink on the new coaching staff. -
All for JR hiring the coach he wants but the treatment of Bruce has been awful and at this point I think should have let Bruce continue the lame duck season. Right now the results are the best thing that can happen to this club. Trading away best centre with not even the theory of another NHL centre is another tank move. ‘Getting a coaching bump is worst thing that could happen this season. Then again I am not sure this club, where they are know after having been beat up in the press by the POHO as much as they have, even have that in them.

[Waivers] Jonny Brodzinski
DrJockitch replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
He is right shot and not Swedish, 2 strikes against him. He is not very big though so we may have a little interest. -
Good size, big time college scorer, character kid. Why would use as throw in. We need prospects and even though wing our best (only?) position in the system he is a good prospect. ‘Hopefully JR will actually move a winger or three at some point too instead of just our best C when we have zero in the system.

I think if someone comes with a deal that they like they can get permission to talk to agent. ‘Our poorly run management has been leaking like a sieve to the press, otherwise I would say that is the sort of thing that is done in secret anyway. If CBJ puts in an offer and he says I don’t want to go there it does no good for anyone involved for that to get out. Could also kill the best deal if they know Bo isn’t interested in signing with them. (CBJ just example)

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
DrJockitch replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I would have agreed with this last off-season or at beginning of the year but at this point I think both should be traded along with potentially anyone not named EP or QH. -

Luckily he seems to round himself into shape around mid-season. ‘Sorry. I tried I just can’t help myself. -

Absolutely embarrassing travesty the way he has been treated by Rutherford. We have had some bad management groups in our history, this is so far looking as bad or worse than any. I thought JB had some embarrassing moments in front of the camera but the list of mistakes by this group in one year overtakes his entire tenure and that has nothing to do with the on ice mess. -

As bad as it seems now, rest assured coaching change is coming soon so that hopefully we can make another run at 15th OA. -
Feel however you will about the job this team has done on the ice, off the ice it has been unforced embarrassing error after unforced embarrassing error while continuing to find a way to always chose the wrong direction. The way they have misunderstood this market wouldn’t be surprised to see Provorov coming this way.
