  1. OEL trade and Miller contract, this was inevitable conclusion. ‘Terrible management across two groups. If Bo goes then we should be looking at complete tear down as EP and Aman are our only NHL centres with nothing coming. We should be looking at complete tear down anyway as Miller and OEL’s boat anchors will be dragging us down for years and we will need to be filling from the system which is currently almost empty because of two bad management groups.
  2. Depends on the player. A good chunk of them, the cap space is enough return for me and not having to give up a sweetener.
  3. I agree with what you say should have been done but the first part is fantasy land. If they could have got a kings ransom for JTM they would have. Garland is not getting us back better than the pick we gave or he would have been gone. ‘They got lowballed on Miller, it was clearly their preference to move him. Signing was a mistake. ‘Everyone thinking we can sell off wingers who make more than $5M and bring back quality young right D or centre prospects are living in fantasy land. Our problems on D are bad and run deep into the organization. It is going to take a lot of work to fix the issues on this team and running Benning’s team even longer was a terrible mistake made by the new management.
  4. Untradeable contract after untradeable contract. Why isn’t this fixed now! Benning took 8 years too tear down our prospect pool and fill us with untradeable contracts. ‘New guys haven’t been better but nobody could fix this in a year. Problem is they either aren’t communicating that they are trying to tear it down or really aren’t trying to tear it down. Either of which is mistake.
  5. Replay of last year. Fight way back to chance to take control of destiny and fall flat on face spectacularly and usually at home. They did it 5 or 6 times last year and twice so far this year. ‘It is what it is. A mediocre team that is fighting to maintain themselves as a mediocre team. It is an endless cycle of mediocrity.
  6. The point is yes we need him but that has no bearing on what we do or don’t do with Rathbone. ‘They are independent variables.
  7. One is a right D, one is left, one is puck mover, one is physical. I think we can handle having more than one D prospect. ‘Rathbone is probably frustrated by his early season but can’t see how Livingston would have anything to do with Rathbone other than as a potential complimentary partner.
  8. Wonder when the last time Wayne went to Edmonton was when it wasn’t to honour him or get payed.
  9. Yes absolutely. Any deal that gives us a first and opens cap after the season is a steal of a deal. ‘Would hate to see Brock in Calgary but don’t imagine he would be there more than his contract.
  10. Bad losers, bad winners. Otherwise, who cares, happened long time ago and is all made up anyway.
  11. Same as last year and the year before…a decade of wish washy management afraid to say to a fan base that we need to rebuild while the fan base screams we need to rebuild.
  12. May not be this off-season, may be another season or two after but is the inevitable conclusion.
  13. I think nobody is itching to make moves more than JR. ‘Hardest part for him hasn’t been finding guys it has been moving some out. Even with retention OEL is the 10th highest paid d-man in league he can’t be moved only thing to do is buy him out in off-season or next. ‘Myers may be moveable after bonus payed in summer but until then he is here since JR and PA are rightfully saying no sweeteners on deals (though they have been throwing them in on deals to date). So on the D we have 2 unmoveable contracts taking up 13M. You have Hughes, not going anywhere, Bear is the best D acquisition yet, Schenn who seems like who you would want to re-sign given the issues with this team. It really doesn’t leave any space to do anything either in money or lineup. Schenn should get auctioned off at deadline as he may be one of our best deadline assets this year but hope he comes back. We have nothing coming in the system on D either. Poolman will be effecting LTIR and the cap for a bit longer and who knows with Dermott or where he will fit. ‘On the backend a tear down isn’t even really possible until the off-season. Not unless something happens in tandem with moving a bigger asset. Tough spot as we are again doing our run to the middle of the standings and the middle of the draft in one of the best draft years in a while.
  14. Yep and that equation worked last year but not so much this year. ‘Plus he just looks gassed all the time. I have wondered a lot about his fitness and with that concern now, imagine at 35 when he starts to slow. With Miller and CG57 this team is always interesting.
  15. The buyout is looking like coming certainly. Foot speed is turning into big problem and league getting faster. ‘Priority should be trading Miller, I think Brock as well but highest priority should be Miller on who to move from the forward lines.
  16. Canucks army have taken to calling this the cocaine bear era of the Canucks which seems about perfect. Missed this one, looked crazy in the highlights. How was Studnicka at third line centre?
  17. They are better than us at all positions this season starting at President all the way down. Their team has been a top team in the league for years and that only happens when playing well in a system and having forwards that support the D. If you don’t do that you get us and Edmonton. Talent but no system and forwards that think they are too good to play D. Sometimes a goalie is just hot. I watched a bit of that game and noticed that after a goal mouth scramble in Toronto’s zone it was Matthews that went out of his way to retrieve Murray’s stick and give it back to him along with a thank you and head rub. Small things picking up stick for someone but huge thing to see your star supporting your goalie and leading. Like EP and Bo but not Brock and JTM all of their star forwards play both sides of the puck, there is no stopping and watching to see if they score on the crazy pass you sent off at a key point of the game.
  18. This team is not 2 players away. It needs a lot more work than that. It is not even 2 good defenceman away from a good D.
  19. Sound a lot like Boeser’s valuation around the league is more in line with Bjorkstradt trade which got CBJ a 3rd and a 4th. If this does not bring back cap it is still a win.
  20. This debate about who is better, Bo or JTM is silly. Bo is definitely the more valuable player. Trading Bo puts us in full rebuild. JTM would need to be out second line centre as we have no other options, or in other words full tank. ‘JTM was the better scorer last year because he abandoned all though of D. Bo at least plays both sides of the puck. JTM coasts and watches D especially after he is the one who lost the puck with a crazy stupid pass at an inappropriate time. Another look is that trading Bo means we are in full rebuild as we turn into a team with one NHL centre in EP and one decent rookie depth centre in Aman. Trading JTM does not necessitate a rebuild as we can cover and even really need to lose an expensive winger. ‘Now, rebuilding is what is needed and I think both should probably go as much as hate to lose Bo. By any equation of where this team should go it should not involve JTM but probably will.
  21. Came late to this one, saw score at end of first and said not worth looking for stream. ‘Why are regional blackouts still a thing. Makes no sense in current era. ‘I can see every game played by American teams but not Canadian teams and the national networks don’t pick up many Canucks games for good reasons.
