[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
DrJockitch replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We shouldn’t have signed him. That was a mistake but the mistake was made during the season before ‘Didn’t like that supposed NYR deal at the time but when see that the D in that deal got a first rounder in trade, 2 first rounders and a young 3C is a decent return for expiring contract. -
I think the issue is more social media than smartphone use. ‘There is also a type of bias here. There has been a big push over last several years to openly talk about mental health. This on its own would increase willingness to admit to mental health struggles which on a survey will look like a surge in cases and frequency but is really just an unearthing of what has already been there.

[Proposal] 2 trades to help all the way around.

Minni doesn’t have cap to spare. Frankly feels like in a Boeser for Greenway trade we are the ones who should be adding. -

Let’s slow down. The Avs are absolutely rocked with injuries and really only have their first line and half their D. Vegas was a good win against a really flat team with Jack Eichel doing Jack Eichel things, taking the night off. My goodness such meagre successes and we think we are championship calibre when this team has shown flaw after flaw all season. -

I have been saying that for a couple seasons and is pretty much what JR said when he took over. Our quality players are still very young, inconsistency is expected. Problem is the high priced vets that are supposed to help the youth develop that consistency have been wildly inconsistent. ‘As much as we look like bottom feeders we aren’t, and as much as we occasionally look like contenders, we really aren’t. Cruising the middle ground for a decade and counting. -
Having Podz down with him for a while is probably good for both of them.

Joshua is the better player IMHO. -

I have lots of room for small players in todays game but we have 3 regular forwards under 5’9” and even then the rest aren’t big other than Joshua and now De’G has been called up. ‘Add to that a D that is fairly small. ‘Luckily we aren’t a playoff team. This tiny group would get caved even worse than the regular season. -
Reading what has been posted it is tough, my first read is that Dorrie probably wasn’t doing a great job in a very different job than she was used to and didn’t take criticism well. It is clear that there is context missing and clearly there was an event that happened along the way in what was probably an already strained relationship already. Not sure if I have heard Emily Castonguay speak either as sometimes words French Canadiens use don’t quite translate across, or come off as more blunt than many native English speakers. If this is around a leak, which is interesting, then it makes more sense and she should have been removed with cause immediately. A sports organization is an exercise in controlled leaks to the press, can’t have someone running around rogue. The stuff around NJ is very interesting and there are a couple possibilities, as stated above maybe they planted the Mik injury to see if she was leaking, or maybe it was the NJ story that was the leak. If you are going to test your ships for leaks you need an organization that doesn’t leak to play off of so in comes big Lou. Perfect foil for that, you know any stories in the media aren’t coming from his side. ‘This is a lousy team but man do they entertain on the palace intrigue side. Meddling owner, crotchety old President drug out of retirement to right the sinking ship who hires Jim Benning after he lost 80 LBs, shaved his head and assumed a fake accent who then hires every women he can find in hockey. Man I wish they would do a 24 in that management team.

[Proposal] Garland(Canucks) for Greenway (Wild)
DrJockitch replied to 86Viking's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Sure make the call. -
It is tough to come out and say we need to trade this player or that player because there is nothing coming to replace them at pretty much all positions in the near future. We may be able to add McDonnaugh or Karlsson late in the year if can trade Boeser or Garland but their aren’t any other prospects looking NHL ready other than Lockwood. Our best AHL centre was Dries and he adds a third 5’9” or less forward to an already small group up front. Our prospect pool is just amazingly bad considering we have been bottom feeders for most of 10 years. Part of the issue is finding room for a new top 4 D even if we could obtain one. Moving Myers will probably have to come in summer, OEL will only get subtracted via buyout and at this point isn’t worth it but does get more favourable in a couple years. We do absolutely need to clear space to even maintain the core we have. As much as I like Mik, his signing was a mistake if we can’t move on from at least 2 of Miller, Brock, Garland or Pearson. If Bo moves on then we should be trading all of them because that is full rebuild mode without Bo. ‘Moving anything off D would be obscenely expensive unless we find someone really desperate or looking to move their own bad contracts.

To be fair he was responding to my response to @Goal:thecup policing how people should be posting in this board. -

Absolutely agree with this but would be more convincing if JR didn’t look like he was following the Benning plan to a T. Double down on loosing team with long retirement contracts-check. ‘Fill out bottom six with UFAs-check Spend what cap flexibility we have on another winger which is our one area of organizational depth-check. ‘Trade away pics and prospects for more developed players that teams that developed them don’t see in their future-check. ‘Oh and ignore organizational depth and holes and draft a small scoring winger with top pic-not so much a Benning trait but still. Most importantly overblow any moderate success as a sign they we are building to something that just isn’t there. @Goal:thecup your statements are horribly ironic given your name since you seem so happy with any moderate success that your “goal” moves further and further away. Why don’t you let the mods do the moderating. -
Kind of steps on her point by making the whole filing public. Canuck’s say she got fired for inappropriately talking to the press so releases lawsuit to the press. Comes off as self-promotion as much as lawsuit and is self defeating because other clubs will see this and say, not worth the trouble. This management group just seems to keep running into issues. Obviously the FA story at the beginning of the year was ugly and not their fault but just feels like negative story after negative story since taking over. Add that to mediocre team and questionable trades/direction and is not looking good.

I think this team has given more than enough justification for being negative, and a scattered few reasons for being positive. ‘But I am not going to play mod and police what tone people can use in the ongoing discussion thread. It is typical form on this board to continue the general team conversation in the PGT until the next GDT thread comes. ‘It is absolutely fair to look at this team and see that there are mediocre at best, don’t believe me try looking at things like overall results and direction. If we want to keep this group, that has accomplished nothing, together it is going to take some incredible cap acrobatics. The other poster was absolutely correct in this. Didn’t match the tone you prefer, so be it. No they aren’t as bad a team as they were at the start of the year, they are now what they should have been all along, a team that when everything goes well is a borderline playoff team that is dependent on a goalie going on an otherworldly heater to go anywhere. ‘Sorry if some fans prefer to see something better out of this club but ownership gets away with it because of fans that see a close win with requisite blown lead against a bottom dweller and think we are good and everything is fixed. -

Because PGT is where the ongoing conversations take place until the next game thread typically. Also, they are correct, significant issues coming with cap just to keep the mediocre group together. So every win, team is good, every loss, team sucks? Good teams go on losing streaks, bad teams go on winning streaks. This is a mediocre team and has done both but loses more than wins. -
Didn’t like the pick but that is an incredibly disrespectful way to describe a young player going through significant health concerns suffered on the service of a game.
