  1. On another note, tonight is baking night. It's going to be the banana-apple-chocolate chip bread! Yum yum!
  2. Recently I had trouble with organic kale going bad in the refrigerator. I bought a new package and placed it in the back of the refrigerator instead of the front on the shelf. And you know what?!! That fixed the issue. I am proud to say that the organic kale is lasting longer. What a concept! A miraculous concept that is! It's kind of like opening the bag of chips from the bottom side up. You get more grease and salt that way, and tastier chips. Also reminds me of putting avocados in the refrigerator versus on the counter. They last longer in the refrigerator.
  3. I confess ~ I can be a little nuts at some times. Today my Internet service went out for 20 minutes, and I called the Internet provider. Apparently there was not an outage, like last week when I called a few times, so they scheduled a service for today. I missed the tech's call and they cancelled the appointment. I realized that he called a minute before I looked at my phone. So I immediately headed out the door looking around and then saw the tech parked on the side street ready to leave. I rush up to his van, and asked about the service call for me. He said yes, but just cancelled it because I did not pick up my phone. I explained my phone was on silent and that I was working. He called the office to uncancel it. I can be a little nuts at times if it is urgent, like flagging down the bus or a tech, etc. Came to be, those Internet service interruptions were outages last week, but they did not know at the time. And today, it's an outside issue and also an outage. The city is doing work on the lines and when they move something that involves Internet, the service goes out. The tech also said that I was the only service call for this and that there are plenty of people who are without Internet due to this, but they don't call. Folks, when the Internet or any other service goes out, I encourage you to call your service provider. Well, the tech said that someone may be back tonight to take a look at the line and may notify me if they need to get into the building or to check my service. No one else in my building called and their service was out except for three people according to the tech.
  4. The Bachelorette. This week it's the Men Tell All. It's not over, but I think it's an 8 this week. I'm still disappointed that Nate was sent home. He was my favorite out of all the contestants. I don't know the rest of the contestants names, but I could probably start guessing, like Brian. There must be a Brian. Oh wait, Mario! (lol, I cheated on that one. His name just popped up on the TV screen.) That guy with the bleached blonde hair, I cannot stop staring. I think dark brown hair would be a better look for him. I watch this show every week, but I cannot really remember the contestant's names. The Nate segment came on and especially the part when Gabby is sending Nate home! Oh my It's time for another piece of banana apple bread!
  5. I tried using my crockpot today, and it was not a success. Maybe I was a little inpatient with cooking rice in a crockpot, so I cooked all the contents on the stove. I just finished whipping up some rice, beans, organic mushrooms, and vegetables topped with sauce for this weeks lunch meals and am having a bowl of it right now. It tastes quite good. The sauce gives it some tang!
  6. Whipped up some rice, beans, organic mushrooms, and vegetables topped with sauce. The sauce gives it some tang! These are my lunch meals for this week minus the bowl, and are now in the freezer with a lid on each one. Calorie wise, it's about 320 calories per meal.
  7. Oh yeah. Do you bake Chris12345? What do you bake?
  8. I cannot believe I ordered decaf coffee by accident and had it delivered.  After looking at the two bags of decaf coffee in horror, I looked at my order, and yep, I ordered decaf coffee.  Like, who drinks decaf coffee and how could I order that by mistake!!?

      Decaf coffee is horrifying!

I think everyone at one time or another picks up something from the grocery store and realizes they picked up the wrong thing.

Some marketing is very subtle on packaging that if you're not careful you get the wrong product.

I never had a 2nd cup of coffee at Alf's house....

  9. Been in a cooking mode and made my grocery store this week: Chili paste Black beans - 5 cans Organic mushrooms Shallots Rice - 5 lbs Organic bananas - 1lb Brown sugar Eggs - 12 count All purpose flour - 5 lbs Margarine - 1lb Gum Chocolate chips - 2 bags Kombucha - 5 bottles Frozen vegetables - 2 pack Coffee - 2 bags I get a thrill out of making my grocery list! It's thrilling and I look forward to it every week. I also look forward to preparing my monthly budget. Something about that is just thrilling!
  10. This is banana apple bread! I got creative tonight, and added cinnamon and chocolate chips to it and buttered the pans. It just got done cooking and is cooling off. I wonder how it tastes! It tastes so good and I am stuffed after one piece! I cut it into larger pieces - 3x3 for each pan.
  11. Self care day ideas?

I'm thinking ice skating, enjoying the beach or the forest, baking, or taking a day trip to Spokane or Juneau.

    Any ideas?

Ooh, Mount Baker is far away from Seattle.  I mean I can see it when walking, but far away.  I don't drive.

      Lake Washington then :)

  12. The Bachelorette. This week I give it a 7 and it's not even over. The rose ceremonies are the best! So I hope that there's one tonight! There was a lot of crying during these 5 minutes, so that's why it's getting a 7 this week instead of the usual 9, 10, 11, or 11+.
  13. Score!  Free stuff!  I’m a little drunk and excited over free stuff right now, so don’t mind me!

plate looks pretty sweet, whats the other stuff?

    3. brilac

@TNucks1, the other stuff was a green wine glass (this one is heavy; wine glasses are usually flimsy and I can be notorious for breaking them when I leave them out on the counter and something bangs into it, oh - there goes the wine glass!), a modal like fabric bathrobe that says Nordstrom on the tag.  It's a medium, but it will still fit me.  I'm smaller than a medium.  I don't know why I took it, I don't really need a bathrobe and I was a little intoxicated finding this  stuff.  Also, I got some plates and a bowl.  All neat, free stuff!

I've gotten other free stuff in the past.  Most recently, two bread baking dishes, art stuff and clothes. Someone put a couple of Madewell shirts out in their free box.  It was a score, and XS too! I'm usually a XS or S in shirts depending on the brand.

I am totally a guy to get in sync with Nature..............

Climb a hill/Mountain etc, where all you can hear is silence............no car etc

And just sit there for an hour, do a little meditation..............deep breathing!

It does wonders for your soul!

Sitting near an ocean with crashing waves, is much the same!

  14. It’s time to go enjoy more sun! I am stuffed after drinking water, 2 glasses of champagne, a burger and fries, and sourdough bread. It’s time to go walk on the beach. Wearing my Vancouver V sunglasses, they are so hip!
  15. It’s 79F and a lovely day out! I started walking 2.5 hours ago and I wasn’t sure where I was going. It was one of those days where I headed out without a plan. I went to a garage sale where they had a bunch of free stuff and my plan was to go back after a few hours, after my adventure. I’m at Alki Beach, far away from the garage sale, and am drinking champagne and having a burger and fries. I like to eat my burger and fries with a fork and knife ‘cause I’m like that. I’m not exactly being frugal, but hey, most days are better than some days!
  16. Here's me wearing the barbie like sunglasses a few weeks ago. I gotta look hip wherever I go!
  17. Oh my gosh! You just reminded me of something. I better get my passport renewed for spring travel!
  18. That's exciting! And then there's the regular season. It's all Canucks and Habs for me!
  19. That's great! Super easy stuff to bake is great to know! Mmmm, peanut butter cookies
  20. No, I have not made chocolate zucchini cake. I must do that!
  21. I'm in a baking / trying new things mode. I bought a crock pot and it is expected to arrive between 5pm - 10pm today and it comes with recipes. I'm excited for it and hopefully it comes during the time today specified or sooner. It will be a fun activity this weekend using the crock pot. It's one of these mini ones, so that will be a delight for me, and dishwasher safe! And yesterday, I made banana bread with chocolate chips in it. It's quite tasty!
  22. That's great @Tre Mac! I was never a weed smoker, but I do enjoy wine, champagne, and beer. I am not much for hard liquor. I go on and off when drinking. Last Saturday I had a beer, and before that, I had not drank in over a month. I alternate between kombucha and champagne. Some months it's kombucha only and other months, it's champagne and kombucha.
  23. I agree with King Heffy with having multiple different things. I enjoy doing multiple different things such as going on nature walks and the beach, watching the Habs play during hockey season, watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette (there's two bachelorettes this season BTW), listening to music, going places, and so on. I also like fashion, so I get a kick out of designer and fashionable things, but lately, I have been frugal, so fashionable things have not been bought in a long time. I also get a thrill out of making my monthly budget and saving money!
  24. I think I am going to bake banana bread or brownies!

Do glass oven safe baking pans require cooking spray/grease?

You betcha!  But @Ghostsof1915, I’ll probably cut off a small piece.

Hmmm, it tastes quite good! And it has chocolate chips in it.  That pan has 12 servings and about 270 calories a piece.

That's not bad at all. Enjoy the chocolatey, banana goodness.
