  1. Miller has officially scored more points then anyone not named Naslund, Mogilny, Bure or the Sedins. That's quite the achievement .... tonight is going to be a game ... hope he caps it off with a game that puts him firmly next to these legends. Already is becoming one in my opinion.
  2. The rebuild is over - at least for a year. They wouldn't do that to this group. Win tomorrow and .655 ish (under Bruce) in this conference is very good. There is no reason not to expect the same or better next season. Better is actually reasonable - EPs on, Brock will likely be back on a one year deal ... and we can still trade Miller. Can't rebuild forever. Teams earned a shot in my mind. As for the Skate. Team loves them, most everyone does. The heart this team has shown absolutely gets my vote for wearing it - not every team we've had since we went to the Orca has my vote to have earned that right. Hope to see it a lot more next season at home games. And really hope to see it in the playoffs at some point in the future too. They all look like bosses out there wearing it.
  3. He was probably thinking to himself "wow that's a low bar there gentleman, a really low bar". Jokes on Burke.
  4. Watching Miller go through 4 guys live and score all by himself live in OTT. One of the better goals any of these guys have scored all year really. Seeing Garland and Podz for the first time and NOT getting injured (like EP in MTL his rookie season)...that Garland can almost figure skate around guys. Always liked Ronning and Walker - hope he's the next great little warrior on our team. Podz arrival ... and it's not really a moment per say, but EPs final 1/4 of the year. Dynamite. And both QHs - Millers pursuit of record book seasons.... all-time. Miller is exactly the type of player i like to have on our team. Wish we had 3 of them. And in that same vein - i really like this team. I've been waiting for a team since the Linden era that looks like they could do damage in the post season year after year. I'm cautiously optimistic this team can. If not - well i still like them. As per Demko ... his scorpion save is a highlight reel thing. That's also a special moment. Miller was the teams MVP this year though. He's had one heck of a year. Edit: Myers ... right at the start of the season too. Well done lad! Watching that with my brother (first game of the year) was for sure is a moment i won't ever forget. This team is affable. And thanks for those folks that have gotten off beating on Myers. I liked him before we signed him - and liked him in the playoffs and still like him. We've got worse cap hits on this team.
  5. Yes i feel he hasn't earned a raise either. Caps gone up a tiny bit. Same cap hit at 4 years seems about right. Edit: Pretty sure we keep Miller and trade Brock. Brock gets a one year deal or whatever the mediator gives him if we bother with that.
  6. He's got 13 less goals then Pearson, in 254 less games. Okee dokey.
  7. That's on a summer deal. A lot could change in a year.
  8. Me too. I think Miller ends up with Zinbenajad ending deal so 6 years ... but a bump in cap hit to match taxes and cap going up a little. So 8.85-9.1 ish x 6.
  9. Sure they can. There is still some fat to trim. That's a deal that we'd have seen in the mid 2010's. Cap has gone up. We could afford to pay the Sedins 22plus ish % of the cap collectively ... after a just a couple PPG seasons. We can afford to do the same with ONE player for sure. 10-11% isn't going to kill is on a 5 year deal ... six that's certainly getting into a buyout territory ... 7 plus well that cap hit better be around 7 or no thanks.
  10. Kadri will be 32 to start the season correct? And just had a career year. Does that mean he's going to get a 5 year deal? Guess we will find out.
  11. No kidding. We've seen an awful lot of HHOFers that produced well into their mid to late 30's that didn't get a deal like that. The ONLY way i see something like that happening is if a team like ARI is looking to re-locate and have some sort of marketing player (not even a top level tier sort, but at least something) and offers him something so ridiculous he just says f!ck it, chasing a cup was fun but i need to think about my great great great grandkids now. I'd be more surprised to see a 7 year deal then a 5 one.
  12. I actually would inverse it. OEL didn't really disappoint, but doing what these guys are capable of ... felt Myers cleaned up some of his risk gaffes in his own zone...8 seems more then fair given his skill set (and like Edler - there were a dozen or so plays just Myers and Myers alone saved a sure goal with his stick or taking the body) ... OEL's best games were when QHs was out offensively - he also has some real duds. Overall that is a completely legit pairing though. They played the hardest minutes. Against the best of the best. Do need another PK option for Myers. If we could use him on the second pairing and have a top ten RHD Pker it would improve quite a lot. Manson is on my wish list. Overall i'd give the team an A- for their second half. Also think that Demko was not a 10. If that's the best he's got - well it's debatable if he's a top ten goalie. 8.5 maybe.
  13. Think we also need to keep Horvat. To me they come as a pair (EP the other guy of course) ... that's our team strength.
  14. Yes that's how i see it too. Maybe an adjustment for taxes and small Zinbenjad increase in cap. 8.75 or something.
  15. Heck i'd trade my wife and kids and make new friendships for maybe a cool 2 million. Edit: Ok that was a joke. I wouldn't actually do that for any amount of money but i did think it for a second.
  16. If he scores close to 100 points again ... all bets are off
  17. Just responding to him signing a 7 million dollar deal here. He won't. Maybe he would on a team like NSH - 7.25 x 8 there would be like 8.5 x 8 here ...
  18. Miller at 8.5 - Range of taxes is us to 1.4 million take home. To me that means we add. Same reason AP took a lesser paycheque then St. louis offered - 500k less. Same take home. It's also why Stamkos didn't bite on SJ massive offer. We are deluded ourselves if we think this won't become about the money. BTW there was a time, that we had identical taxes as EDM and CAL...that 6% sure adds up.
  19. Ugh. Nevermind. Keep your head in the sand. Those are estimations in capfriendly - go to their calculator it's close to the actual thing. 36.32% vs 53% even with a few away games in CALi....and NY... is still a ton of dough. As i said earlier - Stamkos with his reported deal in SJ was analyzed - and with his extra year it was virtually exactly the same as what he got in TB with the extra season. And they actually are about 4% less then us (Cali teams)...No matter what you want to believe, JT Miller has already lost over 2 million since he was traded to us in net income. More because it was back loaded actually. What you need to understand is gavingroups calculator isn't designed for us - it's designed for NHLers that want to see what they can earn in different cities. And it's pretty close to accurate. Cap friendly isn't the best source. We are the highest taxed teams with OTT-TO-MTL by about 4%. There is a small group there - then it goes down 5-12% again. There is no FLAT 38.99% tax amongst the US teams that's completely false. Check out CAR. Or Boston. Or CHI. Or WSHz Edit: NSH ... i knew their was six. That's the sixth. 20. Not true. Keep digging. It's more like 825k ... and on average over 300k. Even in Canada there is close to a 5% disparity.
  21. Yes - which is why they just made him a tax rate of close to 39% and blanketed all teams. Things of note - look at how CALi teams are treated. It's why their tax rates approach what CAN team pay. Even when they play in "no state tax states" they still pat the jock tax lol. There are tons of US teams in the middle - between the highest taxed (CALi -NY teams) and the lowest (5 no state tax plus tiny bit for Texas jock tax related). . I'm not sure yet where your going with this. It's very clear that there is a 15% disparity between the least and most taxed teams. 38.99% blanket is just some thing Cap friendly decided to make up. It's not accurate - not even one bit. It does change from year to year and i've been following it since around 2010. No matter how you want to slice it - JT Miller has lost north of 750k each year he's played with us. And is leaving money on the table from any US team with the exception of the CALi teams ... which i've also been saying for about a decade now too.
  22. That tax rate doesn't make sense. It contradicts their 37% max tax rate, and also doesn't include the 500k they make at a lower one first. It contradicts the other post you made with their current 2022 federal tax rates as well. My best guess is they just averaged it out to include when they play jock state tax away games. And it says estimated. Again dig a little deeper. Your getting closer though. How it actually works i've read about in some detail. Jock state tax away games they have to file in each state and pay a little more. Home games (half the season) they get their home state rates. Jock tax varies but is high in California and NY. That's about it. Any way you want to slice it - it's a big difference then playing in MTL/OTT/TO and thanks to the NDP (wasn't like this a decade ago) VAN as well. I've read a lot of well done articles on this. The actual Gavin Group tax calculator has changed each and every year. It's more accurate.
  23. Can you post them? I couldn't figure out the cap friendly system. And does it include agent fees and escrow.. take a picture of TB Miller now and Vancouver Miller now. Edit: I've been using their calculator since the 2010 or so ... back then Vancouver was around the 7-8th LEAST taxed team. We used to be around 47.2%.... food for thought. No Vegas. No Seattle. And jock tax reeled it back.
  24. Gavin group. Glad we arrived in the same place. Also to make it easier HKSR - google Galvin Group tax calculator - NHL. They include the US teams that play in jock taxes cities. Home games of course don't matter but each time an away game occurs - and they have jock tax they also have to file there. Hockey players don't make anything close to their gross pay. Still a ton of money. Once agents fees, escrow and insurance is paid. Even the least taxed states end up getting less. But there is a large disparity. Usually say 15%. That's fairly accurate.
