Lol. Why does TT even still get air time? He was a rental. We didn't "lose" him. He was going into free agency after the TDL. Or was he supposed to trade him right away.. What was Benning supposed to do? Play for Brock? Or ask Travis too? Price paid in full - even though he was injured for most of the playoffs. Tanev - just dumb.

Luke Schenn named Bill Masterton Trophy nominee

Yes. Nice to have a lad still playing within spitting distance of my age. Well i suppose that's a big lubey but close enough lol. Remember when he first started in NYI... Decent but not great fighter ... goes to show how tough the league used to be. Actually wasn't that good of a player really either. Sure got better though - at both. -

Sometimes egregious wrongs take some time to correct. Whites were actually even better back then. Why? It's was our home uniform, and back then you could see the numbers easier on the 20 inch tube TV. Good luck seeing the puck sometimes though. -

Not a bad post. As far as smurfs go ... that's the way the leagues been trending since the lockout. At least most other teams have the same issue as we do. To me the team is close. Would take a couple lopsided trades and some core ascension, but that's not completely outside the realm of realism either. I think management won't do much. Tweak along the edges a little - the biggest thing they might do is trade Brock (for a bag of pucks, cap space being the return). Next season they will be the last one we see with this group of guys if the wheels fall off. -

Lol. Older then God. Whom exactly. Is there even a 40 year old in the league anymore? -

Tears to my eyes. I forget how much this was awesome. Burrows best game as a Canuck. Also watching it again was fun to see all those douche-bag hawks leave the ice. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

My god that last sentence brings tears to my eyes. Pearson is the "sandpaper and grit" that's hard to find these days. Whatever happened to guys like Momesso? -

Also think given his production folks were worried if we re-upped him he'd get more. And that we thought more rebuilding was needed. And Pearson was easily worth a pick and or a decent prospect. There was still some that held onto their upset once he was signed / but quite a few were like "hey, wow that isn't so bad at all" - because for sure it wasn't. -

Pearson just needs to be his normal self next season and he's worth a second so not sure why you'd include him. -
CAL for sure is considered a contender right now. Curiously enough - that's where our team was after a year of re-tooling in 2014. A little context. For the first time ever (loser points for sure help this) - ALL 8 of the Eastern teams have over 100 points. To me that says a few things. One - they've got patsies to beat on. All the teams the Canucks played this year weren't exactly dynamite we're they from the East. Close games. Should have beat TB too. Kind of owned TO lol. Not that we meet that often either. East is weak on the lower end. West is much more even. They are going to beat the tar out of each other. To me the entire East reminds of when Vancouver was on top of our division. Aside from SJ it was meh to bad. Edit: It's still impresses me a little with the East. Like all the teams got 90 plus points under the old system. Which used to be a good season.

Went to the final. Turned his WHL team around about as well as anyone ever has. I know a lot about Green. Like that him and his staff were recording zone exits and entries by pencil before it was even a thing. Can't blame Green for those bad to mediocre teams he coached. Or for the massive roster changes two years in a row. That's on JB. I bet if he wants another job he will get one. And that it will be on a rebuilding club. Maybe expectations were too high after the bubble. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
IBatch replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Depends if we keep both Miller and Horvat. For me at least they need to come in as a pair for this to be effective - and we need EP on a third contract as well. A lot of variables. Guess it will all come down to next season. IF the team can improve on what they did with Bruce so far - i see the lineup getting cemented in stone the same way MG did it when he came in. If not then ... who knows. Just hope it works out for the boys. This team is easy to like. -
One can wish anyways. COL is also a nice target depending on how things go for them this off-season/post season. Kadri is going to also get a good deal somewhere. Wouldn't that be funny if we traded Miller to COL at the draft - poached something worthy - traded Brock as well, then signed Kadri lol. I do think if offers come in that seem equal that Miller goes to the East though. Boston is another team that would want him. Re-tool is coming for them. Bergeron isn't sure he's going to keep playing after next season. PIT maybe too. Not sure they re-sign often injured Malkin. Think unless they have a hay maker of a post season they are going to start their rebuild... but who knows maybe they are ok with playing it out one more time and re-tooling with Miller. In the end this is what i really see happening. Miller and Horvat both have to sign for us to have a chance at a run of 4-6 playoffs. Brock is the low hanging fruit - but also think he will be back. I think all the regular faces will be back. And they make the tough decisions a year from now or during the season possibly. A little core ascension... That's all this team needs and it's reasonable to expect that... these guys are going to be better next season. Team is close...just needs a lopsided trade. Maybe we use a pick from a trade for that or a trade for that or both.

Not really but ok. Green had other offers before he was named our head coach. And did his time. Not saying he didn't royally screw up this year - but also highly doubt if we started the season with Bruce things would have been much above .600. That much roster change ... and guys that keep coming into camp not ready (EP and Brock that's you - although injuries were part of that for sure). Glad we changed from top to bottom it was time for a closer. At least this management team has assets if they want to use them. Funny thing ... they haven't yet. As for the bubble ... MIN was a top 3 defensive team in the league ... not an easy series. St. Louis was a very good team too. Vegas ... that was Demko of course. Was hard to watch. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
IBatch replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So with this logic i suppose with Bruce instead of Green behind the bench from the start - all three of Brock, EP, and QHs win the calder by a landslide. And we win the cup during the bubble as well. Green wasn't the only issue to start the year. Massive roster change (yet again) and our kids coming in not ready plus zero PKers had something to do with it as well. We lost a lot of close games. The main consolation prize - is no more Benning and co. Don't have to worry about stuff do we? At least not as much. -
Well look at us all getting together! Decent proposal. And your right (OP) - OTT needs to start poaching better players and use their wealth of young guys to make it work. Norris is a guy i've really enjoyed watching. OTT has some really good young players.
-
Yep. Not sure about OEL...maybe but i think for him to do that he'd probably be replacing QHs on the first PP unit so there is a give and go there (unless QHs plays the right side on the first unit)....talking Brock off the roster could make that happen. C's still need decent wingers to maximize their production as well. Need a bunch of Pearson's if Brock is gone - not terribly easy - but not too hard to find either. Wingers for sure add to production. From where i'm sitting which is nowhere really special lol / at least right now - i'm hoping we come back with the same lineup plus minus this and that and give it a go. Allvin and co and make the tough choices during the season depending on how it goes outside of re-upping Brock.
