  1. At what point can we give this guy a real number. I don't think #51 is the number he wants for his carreer. I understand we didn't just want to hand someone who might go right back to the AHL Hamhuis' #2, but at this point i think its safe to say he's staying for a while. I saw someone wearing a #51 stecher jersey and I think he's going to be a popular jersey really soon and it would be a piss off for him to change numbers after so many people buy jerseys. Thoughts on Stecher taking #2 soon, or would it be an end of season thing?
  2. I like the Galagher comparisons or maybe Brad Marchand lite. Almost all of his goals are scored by skating out of his zone and burning by defensemen. He's a little prick to play against but not an absolute piece of s*** like Marchand.
  3. No point for Lockwood tonight in a 3-1 loss. From their twitter though sounds like he had some solid chances. On a side note here is a photo of lockwood climbing on the back of the net in the team huddle. We are going to love this feisty little guy... haha
  4. https://mobile.twitter.com/ryanbiech/status/800160107803869185 video of olli's goal today.
  5. Sportsnet should hire this announcer... I would love to hear him get that excited every time Boeser pots one for us for the next decade.
  6. I'm most excited about his ability to run the PP from the right point. If he turned pro we wouldn't need Philip Larsen and Troy Stecher could take the 6th spot...
  7. *Thick Russian accent* In Soviet Russia, Vancouver doesn't draft Nikita.... Nikita drafts you.
  8. Saw Jake V out at the bimini last night during student night.. He's turning into the future zack kassian
  9. Hutton scores his first NHL goal! Congrats Ben!
  10. I also have a lot of interest in Stetcher. When he played for Penticton he was a great puck moving PP QB and minute eating defenceman. He lost his way for a couple years at ND but I think he's worth slow cooking in Utica and maybe he could pan out to be an nhl'er. Downside is definitely size though.
  11. If this stud keeps it up he could be our version of Dylan Larkin by next year.
  12. He'll play tomorrow. McCann didn't do anything special to stay in for tomorrow and Sutter is going to get kicked off of the Sedin line, he played average tonight. McCann out, Virtanen in.
  13. Me thinks if Virtanen plays tonight are line up will be: Sedins-Burrows Baer-Horvat-Vrbata Virtanen-Sutter-Hansen Prust-Cracknell-Dorsett I wouldn't want McCann sitting out especially after scoring last game but I don't think we're putting him on the 4th line. Do we want McCann's skill for Anaheim or do we want Jake's crash and bang? Do we also want to take Sutter off of the sedin line? I don't see a line up where Jake fits in without sitting a vet or moving him off..
  14. Gilly, haha has anyone here seen that classic SNL skit
  15. With that weight room our boy's gonna come out of the program 6'1 220lbs ready to be an nhl power forward
  16. With Kassian being traded I hope Grenier gets the 4RW spot over Jake. My fear is that if we rush Jake in he's going to fall in to checking role for life and never realize his potential and end up Kassian 2.0. A line with Dorsett and Virtanen would be intimidating but i don't think his career will benefit from a year of running around throwing his weight if we want him to be a legit top 6 winger
  17. Brock was my favorite prospect in our range by far. I think he'll make a great line mate for Horvat one day... he's less electric than virtanen but that shot is a cannon. McCann,Shink and Virtanen will be a gritty electric line to wear down the opposition while the other line will have a finishing touch. Baertschi-Horvat-Boeser Shinkaruk-McCann-Virtanen
  18. That must have been a fun conversation. "Nice pair of goals Sven, you're going back to Utica." In all seriousness I think he should finish off the year there unless something drastic happens. We need to get big for the playoffs, and know what he can do next year.
  19. I can honestly see Jake turning into an Alex Burrows (in his prime) type player. People are going to rip on this for the comparison, but we'd be lucky if he turned into a top 6 guy when put with the right linemates. Obviously he throws the body around more, but he's an absolute pest and is in the box basically every game. Hopefully he can put up 30+ goals like burrows did, but more consistently. Theyre both fast and like to shoot though (virtanen a lot harder)
  20. I think Baertschi is injured, he didn't put up a point last... Am I CDC'ing right?
  21. I thought his numbers were quite high for a d-man so I looked into it. According to HF boards he's been playing Right Wing all season because the coach thought he'd be better suited for the pro game as a winger http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1532849 Makes for an interesting prospect that he can do both. I guess he would have potential to be like a byfuglien type guy. Pair him with a quality defensive partner like Tanev and maybe he could thrive. Also has a big time shot from the point. We haven't had a fin in our d corpse who could wire it in a couple years
  22. As ridiciculous as it is having a 5 million dollar guy on the 4th line it was good having some offensive talent in Burr with Horvat who can actually finish. I also think in games like last night where it's a blowout we should give him 2nd pp time to see what he can do. We should start grooming him early to have 2nd line upside so he's not a bottom 6 guy his whole life.
