Rumor New Home and Away Jerseys for Canucks
Tiger-Hearted replied to Squamfan's topic in Canucks Talk
Why would the full-body Johnny Canuck make a terrible shoulder patch? It's far better than having JC's severed head trapped in a V and drawing comparisons to the Vachon Cakes logo. -

Beautiful. I would just keep the white Stick inside the blue Rink with a white outline separating the green border from getting lost on the blue base. -

Same here. Unfortunately, the Aquilinis don't give a fly's arse. One of the worst ownership groups in professional sports. -

Hat looks nice but for an overall uniform, maroon and black are too dark for one another. -

Maroon is too dark of a colour to mix with black. Silver-grey would look awesome with maroon. -

Those meetings are supposed to be very confidential. If your friend is leaking out any information on the new jerseys, he could be in a great heap of trouble. Or he might be giving out false information in order to hide the confidentiality of the new design. -

Not a fan of the updated SiR because the stick resembles a Nike swoosh than an actual hockey stick. However, I like how the white negative space forms the C. The blue and green doesn't need black. It's like adding blue to the black, yellow and red. Totally agree on returning to block Athletic font. I did this update a while back: -

There's a reason why the original blue Stick in Rink uniform was not included among the choices for the 50th anniversary throwback. The original white SiR uniform was already used for the 40th anniversary. -

The new home and away could also be a big secret, considering the upcoming 50th anniversary season and the draft being at Rogers Arena. Back in 2007, there was an awful lot of unrest in the months leading up to the August unveiling of the current primaries. Only this time, silence might be golden. -

If the original Stick in Rink and Johnny Canuck are the two main logos, with one as the primary crest and the other as the shoulder logo, around 75% of the overall fanbase will highly approve. -

There were copyright issues with Johnny Canuck in the early years of the Aquilini ownership, which likely explains why Johnny Canuck on the primaries, even as a secondary, has been delayed. However, Canucks Sports & Entertainment now own all the Vancouver hockey trademarks...Millionaires, Johnny Canuck, etc. The blue and green scheme aren't going anywhere. That's a given. -

The identity crisis started in 1978 when the Canucks organization ditched a fine look for a very controversial one with no thanks to a quack sports psychologist. Even though I grew up with the Flying V and beloved Skate logo, the change was wrong. The original/current colours aren't and shouldn't be going anywhere. All that needs to happen is replace the divisive and corporate orca with either Johnny Canuck or the original Stick in Rink with the original '70-'72 design. As GoldenAlien accurately stated, the Canucks don't need a logo to represent the region. That's what the colours are for. The timeless white V's on the original arm stripes are a great nod to Vancouver and can be marketed in its own right, ie. (V)AN CITY, (V)ICTORY. -

I'm in total shock right now. A fine young sports journalist passes away from heart failure at age 48. Good people are dying young. Not fair at all. RIP Jason and many thanks for all your great and brutally honest Canucks and sports reporting. Heartfelt condolences, prayers and thoughts to his family, friends and colleagues.

The Canucks are on the right path to building a Cup winner. However, no matter how good they become, they are not winning a Cup until the bad luck and corporate orca is retired and replaced by Johnny Canuck. -

Pettersson hasn't been the same since his knee injury in Montreal. The game before, in Ottawa, was when he scored his first hat-trick and his last 3-point game. At the time, his shooting was great and he was explosive. In the Montreal game, he almost scored early with his explosiveness on a breakaway. Hopefully, we'll know more once the season is over. Something just isn't right. What really bothers me is that there are those who are dismissing Petey's lengthy drought as fatigue from playing a long season and that "all young players go through scoring slumps". 5-game slumps and 20-game swoons are what separate the elite players from very good players. The Canucks had long stretches of home games in the second half to balance off the ridiculous first-half schedule. That meant more practice time. Even against bad teams like the Rangers and Kings, Petey was held off the scoresheet.
