Rumor New Home and Away Jerseys for Canucks
Tiger-Hearted replied to Squamfan's topic in Canucks Talk
Already a thread on this but here's my take...it appears the orca is staying based on the recently unveiled 50th anniversary logo. However, I have a gut feeling that the Canucks are hiding something. The 50th anniversary logo, for one, looks cheap and took about 50 seconds to put together. It may only be a teaser. Also, when the Canucks did the open fan vote on the throwback jersey, the original blue Stick in Rink was not included. It doesn't make any sense not to have it included in the 50th anniversary celebration. However, there is a lot of pushing of the Johnny Canuck brand with the JC in house videos and even in parts of the arena. Heard rumours of a JC third jersey in the works. The third jersey is expected to be unveiled during next season. And what about the draft held at Rogers Arena? With the 50th anniversary and the draft right here at home, one would think of a major unveiling. New jerseys and logos usually get unveiled at the draft. Removing the "VANCOUVER" without retiring the orca and the Agency font wouldn't be that significant. We'll just have to wait and see. I, for one, would love to see the orca gone. -
Teams and players are known to hide minor injuries just to protect those players who are playing through them. Possible, repeat..possible injuries shouldn't be dismissed. They have been lengthy stretches in between games in the past month and a half and with a 7-game homestand, one would think that Pettersson is getting some rest and more practice time. That should be enough to start scoring again. However, it appears that Pettersson won't even crack 30 goals.

Whatever happened to his lethal shot? Look how Boeser's wrist injury in Tampa last season affected his shot. Petey is too good and hardworking to have 1 goal in 19 games. Guess you're not concerned, eh?

1 goal in 19 games is quite a slump because of fatigue.

Hughes is the #2 ranked prospect in THN's 2019 Future Watch. The Canucks are ranked 3rd overall. Great to see!

2018-19 Utica Comets Thread

All the Canucks have in terms of top 6 wingers is Boeser, and likely Virtanen and maybe Leivo. I'm quite sure that BoHo needs a quality scoring winger on his right side. -
The 'Q'.

Lind was drafted to be an offensive player, not a grinder. -
Is Lind hurt? Didn't play last night.

Lind needs to be developed into a top 6 NHL forward. If he does wind up being on the 3rd line, it should be because of the abundance of scoring wingers in the top 6 which isn't the case. -
One goal in 19 games is one hell of a slump, considering his lethal shot for 3/4 of the season. Petey has to be playing through some sort of injury that's hampering his shooting. Might explain his reluctance to shot as well. This slump could easily turn into 1 in 23 games to end the season.

Good news: Petey needs 4 more assists to tie Dale Tallon, '71 (42). Bad news: Petey now has just ONE goal in his last 19 games. His lethal shot and timing are gone. Something is wrong with his wrist.

Pettersson/Canucks rookie records update: Up to 64 points. Needs 5 more assists to tie Dale Tallon, '71 (42).

On the Utica Comets FB page, Comets fans have accused us Canucks fans and the Vancouver media for overhyping prospects and that Cull and Ryan Johnson are not the problem. One fan said Lind's shots rarely hit the net.

What is going on with Lind? The adjustment to minor pro hockey from major junior is a big challenge but only THREE goals on the season as of March 22?? Something is very wrong here. Is Cull to blame? Is Lind a fringe hockey player who only plays on the perimeter? He was expected to be drafted in the first round but luckily fell to the Canucks' lap. Now, he doesn't score and the Comets keep losing unless it's a gimmicky shootout win. Very frustrating.

Pettersson/Canucks rookie records update: Broke points record with 61st of the season. Needs 8 more assists to tie Dale Tallon, '71 (42).

CONGRATULATIONS ELIAS PETTERSSON! The newest record holder for the most points by a Canucks rookie with his assist on Markus Granlund's 10th goal.

Sorry, but I was no fan of Ivan Hlinka. He was here for only 2 seasons. When people talk about forwards on the '82 Canucks playoff team, it's Smyl, Gradin, Boldirev, Fraser, Williams and Rota. Where's Hlinka?? Not one winning season either for a team that was far better than this Canucks team. It's a sad state of affairs for a franchise that it took an "old" rookie to set the club rookie record for points and that the record had stood as long as it did. 60 points is one of the worst club rookie point records in the NHL. Prior to Pettersson, I seriously thought the Canucks rookie point record was a record that would never ever be broken. Hopefully, Pettersson not only puts Hlinka in the rear view mirror tonight in Chicago, but can accumulate as many points as possible for the remaining 10 games of the season. So lucky that we have Petey.

Pettersson/Canucks rookie records update: Tied Ivan Hlinka, '82 and Pavel Bure, '92 in points(60). Needs 9 more assists to tie Dale Tallon, '71 (42).

With the assist on Schaller's 2nd goal, Pettersson has just tied the Canucks rookie points record with his 60th point!

I miss the days of 80's and early 90's hockey. Elite players rarely had those kind of slumps. Steve Yzerman had 87 points with the 'Dead Wings' as a rookie. Teemu Selanne had 76 goals in his rookie season in Winnipeg. It seems that whenever the Canucks have a rookie all-star, which is a rarity, he either gets hurt or goes through a terrible scoring swoon. It explains why the club has one of the worst rookie club records in history among the 'Original 21' teams.

I'm extremely worried that Petey's Rookie of the Year season is now in serious trouble. His shot isn't there and he's having problems with his passing. I hope Q. Hughes will be able to save Petey's season. Just imagine it weren't for Matheson earlier this season, Petey would have 10 more goals and 15 more points.
