But, but... what about that turnover, what about fat Jake? Can we just be happy that he is playing well and cut down some of the negativity in the thread now? 1189 pages in and the usual suspects are STILL on his case at every opportunity.

In this case I think it was both. Most guys will talk of other teams and say things like "every game is a challenge, or any team can get a win on any night, or we can't take our foot off the gas these guys are hungry for a win". Doughty is just salty that his team is a raging tire fire and took it out on his old division rivals. It's the only way for him to stay relevant right now, just let the poor guy have this one

Fun fact: After last nights shelling the Kings have let in the most goals in the entire league -

It's kinda cute that Doughty still thinks "a team like (the Canucks) shouldn't be beating a team like (the Kings)". Quick is way past his prime and most of their core is on the wrong side of 30. Does he already forget finishing 2nd last in the entire league last year? -

Yeah he broke a guy's leg with his shot two games ago. But before that, hadn't a clue -

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers | Oct. 02, 2019

I've never understood the obsession with putting yourself in dangerous positions to block shots in today's NHL. Especially in game 1 of the entire season. I'm sure Adam Larsson would have been much more valuable to the Oilers defense if he could actually play for the next couple of months, instead of stopping a single shot attempt. Block shots straight on all you want, but if you take a clapper off the side of the boot you're pretty well always going to end up hurt, so why even bother? -

That was Quinn Hughes, not EP. -

I sometimes worry that we rushed Hughes into the NHL given his small stature and age, but MAN is that kid ever smooth with the puck. Just so calm, makes mistakes but is then able to recover quickly, offensively gifted. It's looking like we hit another home run with that pick. -

I can't stand watching games against Smith. He always jumps out of his net to play the puck, often cutting players off on the forecheck. And we all know what happens if someone so much as brushes against Mike Smith while he's playing the puck... -
Eriksson, own net

Canucks to announce captain at home opener (Oct.9,2019)

Bo 100%. Pete will have his day. -
I'm 100% on board with the fact that Gaudette made the team this year, but I don't understand why it had to be on the opening night roster. Come 1 or 2 weeks from now injuries are going to start happening league-wide, and finding a trade partner for a guy like Bear becomes easier. If Gaudette is a character guy (which I think he is), then he's okay with that arrangement. That said, congratulations AG for making the team! Easily the hardest working player this preseason, and he had the numbers to show it.
-
Hopefully he doesn't get caught with his pants down in the next 24 hours or he'll lose the job like A.M. in Toronto
-
I expect a trade very soon. Might have to wait until after everyone's final roster is set, so Gaudette might have to go to Utica for a few games until it's sorted out, but he definitely 'made' the team this year. I still see that as keeping to your word (that if you earn a spot on the team you'll play), though last year I was surprised when they waived Gagner... so you never know.

or 4. Jake is fighting for a spot in the lineup, similar to Gaudette. Even if he is a lock, Green probably wants him to think that he needs to bust his butt out there or he's going back to Utica. Green has shown he can get through to Jake. Jake suffers every summertime when it's just himself because let's face it, he just isn't mature enough to put in a good offseason.

Most accurate take on Virtanen haha.

Starting to look more and more like our opening night roster. Hopefully they post a decent stream tonight, not like the garbage they had for the LA game. -
Wow that got personal quickly.

Yeah good call. It's just like Brashear here who just moves his hands slightly so McSorley misses the stick lift. /s
-
Wow, I missed the play on the ice but that is dirty. The league should hand him a 1 game suspension in the regular season (assuming he isn't just some farm plug) to send a message. Deliberately whacks him across the mouth, no puck to be seen, not even remotely close to making a play.
