  1. I'm not surprised that goals against is proving to be a problem this year, at least to start this season. We gutted our defense and replaced it with a bunch of new blood. Not to mention new goaltending too. With such a shortened training camp, it's going to take some time to iron out the little mistakes.
  2. Pro mask vs. anti mask is a pretty meaningless debate IMO. Just wear a damn mask when you're out in public, we're in the middle of a pandemic. There are no rights being taken away here. On the other hand, debating how far the government should be able to step in and say who and who you aren't allowed to visit, in a private home and on your own time, is worth discussing. And going even further, the government has basically shown it has the ability to decide which businesses survive and don't survive during this pandemic, that's a bit scary. These are the real issues. Unfortunately, as with just about everything nowadays, social media, the media etc., have created this us vs. them rhetoric between the sheep and the anti-maskers, the far left and the far right, or whatever moniker you want to give each side, and no one is able to discuss anything rationally.
  3. I 100% agree. I hate watching that system as a fan, it's boring hockey and so often results in a lot of puck possession by the attacking team. But when you have Jordie Benn and Fanta on a line together in the playoffs, neither of whom are great zone exit guys, you see this system more often than not. Maybe Travis Green needs to trust guys like those two a little more and to encourage them to carry the puck out of our zone, instead of the ever so frustrating high flip into the neutral zone, but I really believe we just need to better players (or maybe just a different skillset) on our defense. I think it's time for a guy like Juolevi to make the jump, he seems like a smart player and I think he'd contribute more to the team than other team's cast offs.
  4. Jake doesn't need another player to stand up for him. He's a big kid, even if he's not your typical fighter. He has to stand up for himself. He's not some prolific scorer that you go out and find some guy to protect him lol.
  5. I like the Habs jersey, although it's not like they have really changed anything about their jersey in decades. Not a fan of the Canucks jersey, don't like the logo choice or the colour pattern. I'd rather they wear the black hockey skate, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.
  6. I think they fall back on that system because we didn't have good enough guys on defense that could legitimately go against a good team's top lines. It's a punishing system, but when you can't beat them with skill, it works. Our defense is still a ways out from being where it needs to be, and I'm very curious to see how this offseason's shake up plays out.
  7. https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/whole-foods-walks-back-poppy-ban-after-public-outcry-1.1518673 The damage is done. Good luck with this one WF.
  8. That's like saying France can just go ahead and attack Germany because it's just payback for what they did in world war 2 when they took over their country. What a stupid comment.
  9. I'll never apply the actions of a single person to an entire religion, race/ethnicity or whatever, that's not how I was raised. What I do have a problem with, is the leaders of other countries, predominantly muslim, not standing up and denouncing this type of behaviour. What I'm seeing is paper thin denouncements that basically amount to: you shouldn't have disrespected the religion and you'd still have your head. Much like what you see in the USA right now, unfortunately when your head of state signals that it's okay to do or not do something, people listen. The entire world needs to smarten the F up.
  10. Wow. The Muslim communities should be focused on condemning what is yet another extremist attack, carried out in one of the most horrific ways possible against a human being. Not criticising another country for exercising its right to free speech. I'm tired of the whole, "oh they shouldn't have cut that teacher's head off BUT she shouldn't have disrespected our religion". What year is this?
  11. it sounds like it made it's way into the podcast, so it was obviously blown out of proportion enough for them to catch wind of it. It sounds like the majority of people on this forum have a good head on their shoulders and see this for what it is, just meaningless whining from a few loud voices. The problem is that sometimes these things catch fire and have all sorts of real life implications. I for one am so tired of this culture that's been created in the age of Facebook and Twitter and am ready for it to end. You can literally find fault in anything if you stretch hard enough, but that doesn't mean that the world needs to bend over backwards to address every hurt feeling. Get over yourselves people.
  12. I say go get 'em Petey. You're a good kid, don't let some nobody on Twitter try and dictate your life decisions.
  13. I hope he has a plan for our defense next year. Now that Tanev is gone who is going to eat those minutes?
  14. Stecher > Hutton Rob Williams is just trying to stir the pot
  15. I think you're under valuing him just a little. He is a solid bottom pairing defenseman and not a chance he earns under $1mil
  16. I hope they still get him for a couple years on a cheap contract. He's a warrior, he proved that this past playoffs. That said, tough decisions have to be made every year...
  17. yikes, that's a lot of hard minutes to fill next year. Hopefully JB has something up his sleeve and we don't regress on the blueline.
  18. Good. He'll only come back next year with a chip on his shoulder trying to prove how wrong these guys were
  19. Demko forcing jim Benning to make some really tough decisions at the expansion draft.
  20. This team. Don't say it's over until it's over. Vegas... doing their best Toronto Maple Leafs impression right now.
  21. Last 2 or 3 games we've seen Brock reborn. So glad he got a goal tonight, he's been working his butt off and deserves it. Good team effort. Demko, what a playoff debut. Let's prove everyone wrong again.
  22. Completely agree. The original post (which is now lost somewhere pages ago) was that Loui was a go-to for PK duties, and that was his value to the team. What has been proven post and post again is that Loui is barely even the 4th choice for PK duties. I'm about as done talking about LE as his career in the NHL is.
