FYI Pietrangelo was in his Draft +3 before he was ready. Just for facts sake.

Yep you got it they sure will. Dhaliwal just tweeted how Juolevi and the coach talked about the healthy scratches being for him to rest physically and mentally. So that is more along the lines of lack of energy then the skills all of a sudden disappearing. People forget its his first year against men and seasoned veterans. He has excelled for most of the year and looks to be on track to come to North America next year. His chance at making the team will be determined by numerous factors but he will have a chance. Whether he is ready at the beginning of the season or after some seasoning in the A is fine by me. I believe he will make a fairly smooth transition to the NHL. This kid is only getting better, I mean were talking about a 19 year old freakin kid here!

They get there jollies on prospects not doing well and like to rub it in our faces or pretend what better GMs they would be if they made the picks. Its an embarrasment really since there arguments are based on hindsight. But hey its a long season and I dont fret over short term struggles. If you have a decent eye for hockey you know how good some of these prospects can be.

Thomas Chabot, Darnell Nurse, Josh Morrisey, Ryan Pulock, Shea Theodore, Matt Dumba, Michael Matheson, and Brady Skjei. All 1st round picks who took until at least there D+3 season to become an NHL regular. All are playing well and trending upwards. Ill be more than happy to follow that trajectory. And I already know your argument that none were top 5 picks however that is ireelevant as players are ready when there ready. I dont care if it takes an extra year or two if it gives us a great player for ten years.

Extremely disappointed. Highly unlikely. If you cut your finger are you most likely to bleed out and die? Lol thats how your making it sound for our prospect whos had a great season to date and has now been healthy scratched which noone knows why. Your just using alternative facts to suit your discussion.
  7. Hows he been doing at Centre? Havent been able to watch the games and wondering how the transition is going.

2nd line pairing is sheltered minutes? Juolevis production is just good for his age? Those are both false statements.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

True enough but Juolevi is producing more points per 60 with less zone starts, less ice time, and not as much powerplay time. Imagine how many points he would have if he was playing 25+ min.

Yeah it would be nice if there was some comment from the coach or something for us to go off of.

I used to think he lacks intensity but then I remembered i thought the same about Tanev but its just his demeanour. So I think the same of Juolevi IMO. I agree those first couple steps could be improved and I think it will. Hes still tracking well and would be playing 20+ if playing on a lesser team like Heiskenens. Thats simply a depth issue. We all saw in the juniors as it went on they played Juolevi more. But I respect your opinion if your not impressed by one of the best under 20 season Liga has ever seen. Or maybe you just feel that way because you see Heiskenen doing well and cant correlate between the two.

Well before I was disappointed I would like to know what the coach is saying. Like I said to Rasmus I dont like the fact he is scratched but he has had such a great year I am not that bothered by it. I actually expect him to be scratched a few times when he comes to the NHL. I guess I am just more of a big picture guy and going off what I have seen for the last couple years. The only time I have actually been disappointed was at the 2nd world juniors. To me he looked disjointed in that tournament but then made up for it in this tournament where he was arguably the Finns best D. What would disappoint me is when he comes back from the scratch if he ends up playing poorly. I dont think that will happen but we will see. I know we can all agree we want him to do well because we need him to be a big part of the Canucks future.

Do you want to see him healthy scratched? No l will agree with that. We don't know the reasoning nor should it be a huge issue. He was never gonna play 25+ min a night. Tallinder is there minute muncher and hence why Juolevi is 2nd pairing. It is downright impressive the points he is putting up playing 18+ min a night. We can all spin it however we want and complain about prospect A B or C. Fact is Juolevi is one of the best D prospects we have had ever maybe. From what I have watched gets me excited. Without comparing to other prospects which part of his game makes you worry about his future?

A healthy scratch is extremely disappointing? That's a red flag for you? What a short sided view of a player. Yeah don't look at the body of work of the season why would that make any sense right. Who else was scratched for a couple games this season hmmmm oh yeah Brock Boeser. That must be a red flag then as well. Or the team is struggling and maybe Juolevi looks tired or maybe he wants to light a fire under his butt. Certainly is no red flag in my book.

Why is it always the same people comparing prospect A to prospect B. Why is Heiskenen even in this discussion? Hes not our prospect and that's the end of the story. Who cares if its a healthy scratch or hes sick does ot matter? His body of work throughout the season has been great and his future looks promising. How good? We wont know until he gets here. He was the best D for Finland at the world juniors but that's a short tournament and also is putting up amazing numbers for his age in Liga play. Oh but Heiskenen plays more minutes though. Wah wah who cares again its a moot point because again, not our prospect. We do point counterpoint on them all day. Heiskenen plays on a lesser team and hence more minutes or Juolevi has more points per 60 min played. Heiskenen is flashier but Juolevi steady game will translate to the NHL easier. Does any of it matter? No. All I care about is he is doing well and progressing better than I hoped this year.
  17. Big kid with a big shot who likes to dish out big hits. Im liking this Brassard kid. Didnt know a lot about him before the season besides highlight packages and that he has a high shot volume. Keeping a closer eye on him I went from intrigued to excited. He has a legitimate chance to make it. I want to see his skating against pros but he definetly has some tools to work with. I remember in the summer prospects camp how huge Brassard and Gunnarson looked compared to the rest of the prospects. That is just natural girth that you cant teach.
  18. I cant wait to have Gaudette and Boeser on the powerplay together. Having 2 deadly shooters on the left will open up the right where Petterson will be waiting. Were gonna score a lot of goals.
  19. So your mad at him for being racially insensitive but then use a word like retarded. Is that not considered insensitive as well? Im shocked with your strong moral conviction that you didn't realize that. You millenials these days are funny.
  20. They are allowed because they turn 20 before Dec31st of that year.
  21. Both can play in the AHL next season. Actually they could get a few games in the AHL this season if there respective seasons end early enough.
  22. Don't even respond to this person. There a sad stain on these message boards that has been trolling different discussions the last few days.

Completely agree. I think anyone who thinks at best he will be a #3 is out to lunch. At best I think he has the tools to be a #1 but I think he will be no less than a #3 and if he is something in between then great. With a little more seasoning he strikes me as the type of player that will jump in right away and make a difference. When he is ready, whether that is next year or the year after this kid is gonna be good.
  24. I haven't seen or read anything that has stated that. You never know what could happen but by all accounts it looks like he will join us at the completion of his NCAA season.
