And Vilardi was seen as a surefire top 5 pick in many of those drafts, and now he's at 11. Mock drafts don't matter as much in an open draft like this. It's who the teams themselves like. It was speculated that JB had Boeser in his top 10 in 2015. You can't say this is a bad pick because it wasn't in a mock draft

Not necessarily. I didnt expect the rangers to take Andersson, and Vilardi is available at 11. After Nico and Nolan, It was wide open, and you never know who goes where

I'm not sure why people want to trade up for Vilardi. We don't need two top 6 centres from this draft with horvat taking one of those spots.

I think the fact that a large number of us want Glass at 5 makes it even less likely we'll get him (although i hope i'm wrong). Last year we were all prepared to take Dubois, and he went at 3. I pessimistically think it will happen again. Because of this, it might be best to target a #1 D-man like Makar or Liljegren, or someone a bit riskier like Pettersson or Mittelstadt. Or in one of my favourite unlikely scenarios, we trade down and take Yamamoto, who is this year's Keller lite.

I love Juolevi. Before we even knew we had 5, I was hoping for him (other than Keller) very smooth, very safe D-man. Best in the draft IMO. I would project him at a #3 D-man minimum. I wonder why people are so mad about not getting a scorer. Scoring wingers aren't that rare. You can find 25-30 goal scorers through free agency, and we had no game changing D prospects before juolevi. The only thing I don't like is that we let Tkachuk go to Calgary. He's gonna be a pain to play against. It will be fun seeing him and Virtanen go at it.
