  1. Pick goalie groups last cuz the difference between a mid and a top is like 3 or 4 points whereas a couple banger players make that up and then some :joy_cat:
  2. To make up my missed picks, we select: Roni Hirvonen David Jiricek
  3. Matt Coronato Topi Niemela @BoKnows
  4. Yeah folks. I don't need this random defense. Regardless, I'm excited to see who the Canucks sign. I respectfully ask to maintain my unique view that Podkolzin is underwhelming in exchange for my other unique view that Myers is actually good and more or less worth his contract. Thank you. I did not mean to cause a ruckus.
  5. Yea I agree their picks were a large part of the success. It's a shame the lotto rules changed when they did and detracted from our possible gold. Also I've been a huge Podkolzin detractor since him being drafted. I did work with the draft on an analytics site I once had and hated the pick. Not to takeaway from any other player, but I'm particularly unhappy that the next 7 picks in the draft are all showing better signs. However EP and Hughes were obviously both hit out of the park. Demko is an often underrated piece. I'm not a Pens fan. If you're basing this off my signature that's a fantasy league from a few years ago in which I was randomly given the team lol
  6. Thanks for contributing to the conversation and assigning me a role that I don't agree with. Your detective work is greatly appreciated
  7. I gave props to EP and Hughes and only crapped on Podkolzin. It's just realism. #goCanucksgo
  8. No I never implied this. I implied our need in insufficient D is not the same as the Penguins who had much stronger core pieces.
  9. Why are you making this assumption? I've been a fan for more than a decade and have even gone as far as working for the organization.
  10. What in the may goose are you going on about? A team should explore it's best option for D whether or not it takes time? Yeah no $&!# Sherlock.
  11. They had an elite core. None of our wingers compare to Kesell. Podkolzin was an awful pick and Lekkerimaki is TBD but a bit shady. EP maybe is the only one close. None of our centers are near that level either. Horvat is all we have for the long term. Defensively I'll give u Hughes for Letang. But we're still lacking a Crosby and Malkin who are eons above in talent compared to what we have.
  12. EK was "aweful" (whatever that word means) under SJS. Probs carried by Methot w/ your logic right?orangeorangeorange
  13. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Daley and Cole were elite under the Penguins system. And no, both of them were not elevated by Kris Letang.
  14. Jackets blew it out of the park David Jiricek Denton Mateychuk Luca DelBelBelluz Jordan Dumais Kirill Dolzhenkov All the players they took project (in the most optimistic case) as stars. They very well are aiming to have what could be one of the best draft classes by a team of all time. Unfortunately, the Canucks appear to fall short. Lekkermaki was an unfortunate draw, given Rutger and Denton went two picks before us...both elite projects. Hopefully Lekkermaki proves to be a valuable selection... at least it wasnt a Podkolzin tier selection
  15. Anyways 2nd round pick to my head and I would want the Rasmus Andersson not the Erik Cernak
  16. The other guy hasn't watched any games and largely copies what he sees on Reddit lol
  17. I think a lot of people are aiming their expectations too low. Hamhuis. Schenn. Tanev. Manson. Whoever. These players were all traded or launched in a rocket via FA to whatever team they ended up exceeding the most with. The point of the draft (specifically the 1st round) is to find irreplaceable pieces not complementary ones that will help another team with a better core win a cup.
  18. I share this resource: https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/topdownhockey/viz/ProspectProjections-2022/ProspectProjections?publish=yes As a data brother like me (see my post in Prospects/in the system) quite a few of my views align with this guy. Notably: ● Shane Wright is the correct choice at 1 and it would be foolish to assume he will bust ● Jiricek, Nemec ... Korchinski, Mateychuk. No shortage of defenders in this draft with promising upside. ● On the note of promising defenders, Lane Hutson has significant boom/bust potential. He's very short, it would be almost like a unicorn if he worked out but we are seeing more and more small defenders. Christian Kyrou and Ty Nelson are two other players that fit this bill to keep an eye on. ● Lian Bischel will not be Moritz Seider. That is an odd comparison and a rare outcome. If anything, look to Jiricek/Nemec to fit the role of a standout defender. Bischel projects more as a top 4 DFD, think Josh Manson / Luke Schenn tier. That is still a valuable type of player but temper expectations for a player whose been given chances to show his offensive prowess and came up short. ● Lot of intriguing forwards in this draft. In particular, Joakim Kemell stands out. He would be going top 3 if not for concerns regarding his shoulder injury. Incredible standout player, perhaps the greatest upside of any forward in this draft. ● Brad Lambert is not this machine that one hopes he is. Eyes have been on him for quite some time and his stock has only fell for good reason. Perhaps he is the Veleno-type that comes along so often. ● Rutger McGroarty should not be slept on. Low hockey IQ in some sense (loves to crash the net) but he's very silky, tenacious, a good passer and has only improved as time has gone on. ● Don't be surprised to see Cutter Gauthier in the top 10. Size as a center with some skill is a lucrative package. No clue how this one would pan out. ● Speaking of size, if there was a Russian to gamble on its 6'7" winger Kirill Dolzhenkov. MHL standout. Take a look at this kids highlight package. Intense skill. Don't see a big boy raking up lacrosse goals and splitting the defense very often. The model I linked above has had a respectable record at projecting Russians including Kaprizov and Kucherov. This guy will be an interesting late round watch. ● Another interesting late (1st) round watch is Isaac Howard. Appears to be one of the best scorers in the draft but concerns regarding his size and perhaps his NHL projectability may be holding him back. It's an interesting draft for the Canucks and there should be a plethora of high reward guys available at pick 15! :O
  19. He's not hitting 30 next year and you're criminally underrating Magniapane. Let's hope he can be a consistent secondary scorer first before juicing our expectations of this guy
  20. A fully developed Howard is not going for scraps lol
  21. More liek Tier 1 / Safe Shane Wright Tier 2 / Quite Safe Nemec Cooley Slafkovsky Jiricek And then u can toon out from there on Kemmel is far from tier 3 safe but has a sexy reward. Bischel is a big stay at home D so I'd put him in tier 3. Would be dynamic if he had some offensive flair hiding in there. Kulich is not equally as much of a swing as Savoie. He's far more of a wildcard imo Also your list missing Isaac Howard makes me quite irate!
  22. In Petans stellar draft year, he was tied with teammate Brendan Leipsic for points. Dumais is 21 points ahead of his next closest teammate. Additionally, Dumais is just one of the many players I make mention of in there lol. Lot of interesting guys should be available at Nucks 1st
  23. Savoie was known about for many years now, Dumais has suddenly come on to the scene as a QMJHL rookie. His coach says: As his coach said, he was a late bloomer...showing up for 25pts in his last 10 games for instance. Via the athletic:
