  1. If that's the cost to acquire him and to re-sign him 8 to 9 mil then for sure
  2. I like this move for the Kings especially at that price. He will get a chance with the Kings to show case what he can.
  3. Reported by Elliote Friedman during the 2nd intermission of today's Leafs, Canadiens game. Friedman mentions that Seth informed Columbus brass that he won't be re-signing. What a mess in Columbus, I feel for that fan base. Like him or hate him Torts probably should have been let go last summer, I feel like a lot of players may have soured on him and thus Columbus. Seth will want big money not sure the Canucks can fit him money wise nor the cost of assets to acquire him. https://www.1stohiobattery.com/columbus-blue-jackets-news/2021/05/6090/seth-jones-not-interested-in-re-signing-with-columbus-per-report
  4. I'm not opposed to moving Miller, I like him and he is a fantastic player. I don't mind either trade as this team does need D help but this team also needs more forward depth if he is moved. I think we can get a nice return from a contender. Colorado would be a team I would look at. Try to get their JT (compher), their 1st this year and some other prospect or player if possible ie: Ryan Graves?
  5. I would like to see the Canucks try to get him, especially if Virtanen will be moved or bought out. Played with Pods could be a good fit on the other wing from him on the Canucks 3rd line next year. Dont know much about him, could be a Gusev type player
  6. 80 point player? It's possible a year here or there. He most likely will be an Ehlers type player, a consistent low 60s point player that's tough to play against.
  7. Yea he is from Smithers. I also think he along with another player or 2 bought the WHL team Prince George Cougars
  8. Yea I'm in the don't want Eichel camp. The cost to get him will be astronomical and I don't think him alone will replace the overall value of the players lost to acquire him. If there is a player it be either Reinhart if not too much or Jokiharju.
  9. Gillis didn't want to re-sign Mitchell cuz of the concussion he had that last year. Instead Gillis traded for Keith Ballard as his replacement and then a week later signed Dan Hamhuis as a free agent... Oh well
  10. As mentioned it's not often that an NCAA player will play the full 4 years to be able to be a UFA. I'm confident that Aiden will sign with the Canucks by next summer if not this. As for the last Canuck if I recall it was once and that was way back in the early 2000s with RJ Umberger. But even he wanted to sign with the team after his 2nd or 3rd year of college. It was that they couldn't come to terms on a contract and I think he didn't play that year. Then the Canucks drafted Kesler and there was some animosity between them. I don't think they wanted to play on the same team? I could be mistaken on that. But RJ was then traded to Philly I think.
  11. My feeling is, is that it'll be what Sven got $10mill over 3 yrs. 3,333,333 p/y. I hope that it will be less but...
  12. https://www.tsn.ca/video/trade-bait-savard-leaps-ekholm-for-top-spot~2171688 Take this with a grain of salt, starts at 1.50 mark. Frank Seravalli from TSN, reports that the Canucks are confident that something will get done on a Tanner Pearson contract extension and that both sides are optimistic. It could involve Pearson taking a little bit of a pay cut as that seems to be the way things are going this season and with the market trends. The Canucks are doing everything they can to try and keep Pearson. Seravalli says the team has identified him as a “glue guy” in their room and he’s extremely close with captain Bo Horvat. They want to get a deal taken care of before the deadline.
  13. This is what I kinda thought that the deal may look like, 5 at 5. This is a win, win type contract for both Team and player. By the 2nd year I think this will be a real good contract for the team. Hopefully Mike D. will be ready to be the back-up by then.
  14. Nice return for Buffalo on Staal. I was hoping that the Canucks would move Sutter @ 50% retention to MTL for either the Caps 3rd round pick or MTL 4th round pick. Staal is of course the better player. Maybe this get the other teams going and hopefully have a team slightly over pay for one of the Canucks UFAs
  15. Yea I don't mind him either but I don't know if I'd do this trade now as I don't feel this move would impact the remainder of this season. I'd wait until the season is done and see what other options are out there. I feel like Markus could be had for a late round pick in the off season, though Jake's value may not be much more than that either. Unless this a move that is being made to expose MN and protect Myers while allowing the team to protect another forward over JV. Though this again can be done before the ED as well.
  16. If that twitter msg is to be believed, which I don't, the Nylander trade, as a few mentioned, would be for Alex not Willy (not a fan of either) and makes more sense. The cost in assets to get Willy would be too much and his contract doesn't fit with the current roster. Alex on the other hand does. The trade would be 1 for 1. Both Jake and Alex had promising regular seasons last year but poor playoff performance. Yes Alex is injured and recovering from a knee surgery (recovering better than expected thus far) but this fits into what had been mentioned in what the Canucks may want. 1 a younger forward 2. Clear some cap space. Alex is in the final year of his ELC and most likely won't be playing this year at all. The Canucks would be saving a couple million this year and since Alex hasn't been playing his contract next yeat will be cheap, it most likely would be a one or two year show me contract under a million. Also if Alex is still on LTIR when the expansion draft happens, I believe he may not have to be protected? Not sure though. If the team wants a young forward in return i think it be better to target either Michael McLeod from NJ or Henrik Borgstrom from Florida. Both play C, which the team needs and the cost should be 1 for 1.
  17. They Canucks haven't made a trade with Florida in a while it may be high time to revisit them and swap Jake for Henrik Borgstrom
  18. Good on Tanev to get his contract. He was good player here and will do well in Calgary but unlike some I'm not worried about how or by whom he will be replaced. There is still plenty of time of to sign UFAs or make trades for some Dman. Let other teams through term, money at players then when they've realised there mistakes let us come in and get a good replacement at a cheaper cost. Columbus apparently wants to move Savard, he has 1 yr left is more than a good replacement for Tanev. He may come in cheap as it seems like Columbus wants to re-up PLD long term and go after AP. Washington may have 2 dman available for trade, Jensen who is equal to Tanev and Siegenthanler who is up and coming and young. FLA needs wingers and a centre and are inclined to move Weegar who again imo will be equal to Tanev next year. Then there is Vatanen who, not better defensively, is offensively as such not much difference there. Buffalo has a RD available etc.. I just don't want Barrie, unless it's 2 yrs and around 3 and to play on the 3rd pairing and 2nd PP
  19. Per Lebrun, trade not complete, a little hold up in completing this. I'm having difficulty pasting his tweet.
