  1. Yeah because it's the least important move and if he doesn't want to sign with us we will find a replacement. More curious about what people think of signing Graves and trading for Murphy
  2. In the offseason Boeser, Myers and Rathbone to Chicago for Connor Murphy and a 7th Sign Graves or Tryamkin Hughes - Murphy OEL -Baer Graves/Tryamkin - Schenn Brisebois
  3. Karlsson at his age and contract is not worth as much as you think.. finding a trade partner due to cap and NMC is extremely hard, there won't be any competition/bidding war either. Sharks take a deal like this or they keep Karlsson until his contract is up
  4. No but maybe he would like the idea to play with Hughes?
  5. I think we view assets the same I agree on your valuation of Boeser, Garland, Rathbone but there is some upside in all of those players. Sure they most likely won't get a first out of these players but what if Boeser starts to score 30+ goals next year? Boeser's value right now is all time low but he isn't as bad as he looks right now. And if they don't like Rathbone they get a 3rd round pick instead and clear 1 contract spot (they are 49/50). I know it's risky but we won't fix the D without risk anytime soon.. In my opinion it should fix our D for the next 3 years (including this) and then we see.. The fact you don't value our assets high but still don't want to make that trade tells me it's fair value then haha
  6. Well that's exactly what they would do.. sell him for a bunch of assets.. Boeser/Garland/Rathbone or 3rd Which other team has cap to take him for a first? And would he waive his clause? I think with Pettersson, OEL, Hughes, Aman, Hogz, Sedins there is a chance he would waive to come here
  7. To San Jose: Brock Boeser 600K retained Conor Garland = 11M cap Jack Rathbone (minors) OR 2024 3rd, they choose To Vancouver: Erik Karlsson 2,5M retained Nick Bonino = 11M cap Aaron Dell (minors) Sharks do it to get worse this and next year (get higher draft picks) and get some pieces back that could either be flipped for picks or be part or their new core while getting rid of Karlsson's contract. Also they get a sweetener with the 3rd or Rathbone. Canucks do it to finally fix the RD and get a veteran 3rd line center for the rest of the season. And a backup goalie in case Delia fails. Because Bonino is UFA at the end of the year it frees up 2 million in cap to extend Bo. After this season try to trade Myers for the lost 3rd and use the cap to sign Kuzmenko and depth Dmen. Lineup would look like this: Miller - Horvat - Hogz/Podz Mikheyev - Pettersson - Kuzmenko Pearson - Bonino - Studnicka Joshua - Aman - Lazar Hughes - Karlsson or Hughes - Schenn OEL - Schenn OEL - Karlsson Dermott - Myers Stillman - Baer Burr Very Deep Defense and more balanced Offense
  8. Motte + Highmore are the difference imho. The energy/pk/shutdown those guys bring have not been replaced
  9. Ok I get what you're saying. I don't see this 3rd line C ceiling though.. hopefully I'm wrong
  10. What exactly are you saying? Yes Highmore and Lammiko are league minimum players who both were RFA's.. so not signing them and not signing other FA's to fill that role was what? Smart? So that now we can trade our RD depth to get an Highmore replacement? Need to see Studnicka play but I would be surprised to get as much out of him as for example Highmore.. So overall this offseason is a complete waste of assets while not getting anything for it.. amazing!
  11. Letting Lammiko and Highmore walk.. I'm trying to get over it but then we spend assets to get something that's probably at best a Highmore/ Lammiko..
  12. Motte 49 games 7 goals 8 assists +3 Highmore 46 games 5 goals 7 assists +1 No PP time, no sheltered minutes, both killing penalties and shutting down opposition top lines. And we would still have Aman, Lazar, Pearson.. Motte this season so far 6 GP 2 goals 4 assists +5
  13. Ironically the reason for that is that the current team has no one like Megna, Chaput, Highmore, Lammiko or a more skilled version of that like Motte. And it surprises me no one can see it.. All this team needs is to add Highmore and Motte for the energy, pk, shut down abilities to compliment our skill and we're a winning team again. I believe we are missing that even more than a top4 RHD. A team full of Motte's wins you way more than a skill only team. Skill only has never worked in any sports..
  14. Rathbone, Boeser, Poolman + 1st for Chychrun? Rathbone, Boeser, Poolman for Connor Murphy?
  15. Like Bieksa and Burrows.. which makes me think they asked everyone and traded as much as possible and unfortunately that was it. I agree on Tanev and in general that off season was horrible. But Markstrom we had no choice. Trade him while we're on a Playoff run? No! And signing him would mean NMC and that we would need to trade Demko and because we're handcuffed and he didn't prove too much by then all we would have gotten is a second or third. But should have signed Tanev and Toffoli instead of Schmidt and Hamonic and everyone knew it but JB
  16. Agree with everything except there were no players to sell. Whole team was untradable, full of NTC's or simply not fetching any return We sold what we could.. Lack, Burrows, Hansen, Bieksa and the returns were fair but doesn't get you that far..
  17. Also I'm wondering .. would something like Rathbone+Boeser for Connor Murphy be possible?
  18. So what is EP and QH worth? Or in other words you think you can get McDavid for 3 firsts?? Or if you would wanna get Jack Hughes? You think you get it done with less than 2-3 firsts? If no other players are involved in the trade
  19. Agree Where should these additional draft picks come from? Wasted a couple picks on projects yes and unfortunately didn't work out but I'm ok with the idea to spend a second or third on a young project.. It's just like the draft pick, could have worked out or not. How many did we spend anyway? 2nd for Vey and 2nd for Baertschi, if one would turn out a 3rd liner it would need to be considered as a success.. Baertschi even was a third liner for a while until concussion.. and what a 4th for Etem.. also worth a shot
  20. Yeah it's really that much different haha.. EP and QH alone should be 4-5 first round picks if you would wanna rebuild now. Maybe from a competitive view they might be similar but age and value wise it's night and day.
  21. LE contract and letting Tanev walk were his huge mistakes (and Green extension). Yeah and how many were empty net points? How was their +/- something like -20? Did they cool off in the Playoffs? Yes, same old story.. They were still producing and with the right roster/tactics still kinda effective but far away from a true 1st line that can handle themselves in any situation.
  22. The part you didn't quote is the reason why. If for example we would go full on rebuild now and in 9 years the team is as good as the current one it would be a huge failure. Canucks 2013 or 2014 were the worst team you could do a rebuild with. Probably why Benning got the job, a job set up to fail that no one else wanted. Look it's not low standards, it's more like if I start the race last then I'm ok finishing in midfield. If I start in the front, I want to win.
