  1. Yes Travis this is a hockey play. https://ottawacitizen.com/sports/hockey/vancouver-canucks-winger-brock-boeser-in-concussion-protocol/wcm/99a435b1-75fa-4d84-804b-e94a4e0d2915
  2. True but if he doesn't play better that's where TG will staple his ***. With his attributes and potential there must be a reason(s) the coach won't play him on the PK / PP and puts him with the aforementioned players. Coaches put players in positions that they are suited for or have the best opportunity to help the team win. I think the fact you said he didn't hurt the team is exactly how much faith/confidence TG has in him right now. That doesn't bode well for Jake in the long run.
  3. I guess I was just expecting more. He had one SOG and I didn't really notice him. I guess that's not a bad game, just not a good game either. 0 points when the Canuck's scored 6 goals and didn't notice much from a physical standpoint. I guess vanilla is how I would describe it. Based on where the game was - Abbotsford - and all the media about him (wrongly or rightly) I thought he would take advantage and make a statement. Ottawa was more physical than any of the Canucks - including Virtanen. Eye of the beholder I guess.
  4. He honestly was invisible unless it was because of a mistake. I really thought he would show up. Ottawa played a much more physical brand of hockey. When Boeser was hit from behind you could feel the fans waiting for the expected response by his team. Never materialized. I must say I was pretty freaking mad and would have done something if I was on the ice. Like get my face punched in but I would have done something. Very disheartening it was a potential team building exercise starting with a line brawl.
  5. This is how you build a winner. This D core screams potential repeat and as a Canucks fan I am totally jealous. Pietrangelo will get paid and Bouwmeester will likely be gone or take a huge cut. They are actually in decent cap shape for the next couple / few years. Exactly the opposite of how the Leaf's are constructed - totally top heavy with none of their D outside Rielly locked up or even signed beyond next year.
  6. Some of these rankings and picks did not age well, others did. Bit of a crap shoot really.
  7. Even though the Canuck's dressed what looks like the majority of their regular season roster last night it was pretty scrambly at times - offense and defense for both teams. Lots of offense but little flow or structure. Give this new team 10-20 games to gel. The issue is they sorta need to win a lot of those games to stay in the hunt. Hopefully they can win while putting it all together. There is definitely more skill and speed on this new roster. Fun to watch. I will say Myers looks like he may be a high risk high / reward defender. Great skater but does turn the puck over. Hopefully once he gets used to his partner and the system it improves a little. Won't be boring.
  8. The one reason it may happen is $$$. Aquilini loves real estate and the City of Abbotsford may just be willing to sell the arena if they can't get a legitimate anchor tenant. It is currently subsidized by city taxes/taxpayers. If Francesco can make some money and obtain some prime real estate as part of a deal he will move the team.
  9. I believe I heard TG said Baer was "average" so far so maybe this is his chance to prove otherwise. Baer did play for the Abbotsford Heat so this is a bit of a homecoming for him. He was a fan favorite and early on in his career here he was a fun player to watch. Too bad it was for the Flames farm team, otherwise they would still be here. Local fans just couldn't get completely over the fact they were the Junior Flames and season tickets were hard to sell.
  10. The beauty is that most of them are local and there is a lot of money in this community with no major sports teams or big ticket items to support and pay local advertising promotional dollars towards. Most people don't realize that Abbotsford (Chilliwack and Mission as well) has a major Agricultural wealth base and supporting businesses here. Our economy is stable and well established. The beauty is they are largely local and regional businesses with local decision making - invest local. No other competition for their dollars as the Comets would be the jewel of the town as far as any major sporting event to be seen at or attend. Trust me this town would go gaga over the Comets.
  11. We are stoked its gonna be a zoo. Had Abbotsford Heat season tickets when they were here. The Manitoba Moose games were legendary. This town would support the Comets as well or better than Utica. The corporate sponsorship alone here would be huge. I get the travel thing but with the California teams starting up it wouldnt be nearly as bad.
  12. Me and my son are there. Look for Horvat and Pettersson in the stands.
  13. The Mole. Maybe he is actually being paid to negotiate on behalf of his clients from inside the Kremlin as an undercover double agent.
  14. This needs to be factored into the next CBA. Canadian teams/markets being discriminated against and disrespected yet again
  15. https://www.nhl.com/canucks/news/vancouver-canucks-utica-comets/c-303350084 The article states "for up to six additional years" but I remember reading somewhere there may be an out clause or initial term permitted to be extended. I thought it was for 3 years then revisited - not certain.
  16. So the Blues and Bruins just played for the Stanley Cup. I don't exactly call those rosters full of knuckle chucker's. Size and push back are the new toughness. This roster is just fine. What I want to see is a "willingness" to stand up for each other.
  17. Has there been any announcement of the actual lineup for tonight? WHO'S PLAYING?
  18. I hate to say I think that would be reasonable for both sides. Boedker makes actual $3M this year. Eriksson has $1M left this year and $4M each year over the 2 remaining.
  19. Well if that's the case it means they may have players other than possibly Gaudette they want to keep on the roster. With Roussel on LTIR, Gaudette waiver exempt and likely they carry 13 forwards and 8 D it gets interesting. Maybe they want to keep Graovac or ? up. If that's the case I see Goldobin, Schaller and one of LE or Motte waived to be re-assigned. I imagine it's the 3 latter as Goldobin may still have some value if only for another project that fit's the Canucks better, part of a package or a late pick. We will know shortly.
