No not that. It's that you want to dress Jake up like a cat. I think this has catapulted into a weird place and run it's course. I am at the Canucks game in Abbotsford on Monday with my son and will let Jake know how you feel. Should be a fun atmosphere. I am hopeful the Comets end up here they would have great fan support - this community loves the Canucks and hockey.

Okay now you went and made it creepy.

I will take that in a positive non-creepy way. I like him too.

[GDT/PGT] Canucks @ Kings - Sep 21st 2019 - 6PM from Salt Lake City Utah

I think lowering expectations is dangerous especially with a young player who hasn't peaked - hopefully. I believe TG is telling him what he needs to do to be the best he can be and he isn't there yet. I expect Jake to be a mid six winger who plays hard consistently, with a physical edge, who is defensively responsible and is willing to go to the net/tough places - 15 - 20 goals and 30 - 40 points. I don't think that is unreasonable. -

I think it is understood that TG has spent quite a bit of time with Jake and invested a lot - on and off the ice. They have known each since Utica and I think TG understands what Jake needs to stay motivated. Motivation appears to be the issue - from training, to consistency to playing a specific way - TG has taken Jake on as a project. I think he really likes Jake, sees how special he could be and wants him to succeed. But sometimes it takes some tough love. I trust what TG is doing and I fear if Jake doesn't respond soon he will not be here if and when he does get it. -
At this point just to make it go away i would consider Goldobin plus Loui. Even include some salary retention on LE. Sad.

I would tend to agree with you except he apparently didnt agree with the coach on his deployment. If that has changed and he is useful fine. If not it doesnt really matter especially if he isnt buying in. It is a problem. He doesnt offer anything of specail value that cant be replaced by someone who does buy in to their role.

Keep on keepin on Jake. I hope he plays angry all year. This could be the turning point.

I think that's fair, buys time and if it doesn't work out - heaven forbid - the Canucks have the option to not qualify him at that number. Also, by then Podkolzin, Hoglander and some of the other young prospects will have indicated where they are at in the depth chart. I like Boeser. I like the player and person. He has earned a considerable increase and should get paid. But it's important to maintain sanity on both sides for these RFA contracts as they hopefully build the next Canuck "window". -
[Signing] Flyers re-sign Travis Konecny
Borvat replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Hits last year - Boeser 14 / Konecny 65 Ozone vs Dzone starts last year - Boeser 70% Ozone / Konecny 50% Ozone ATOI per game - Boeser 19:10 / Konecny 15:16 Can Boeser score more goals yes. But to say Konceny has no bite and no defensive game compared to Boeser is not true. Boeser also receives more favorable deployment. I like Boeser but he hasn't scored 40 goals or played a full season. -

I agree with the bolded part and it actually favors Konecny somewhat in my opinion as he can play center, can be deployed more defensively and is more physical. Time will tell. -

Centers garner more typically - so if Konceny is potentially a top six center and potentially Boeser is a top six winger who is worth more?. Based on performance and factoring in durability it is comparable and Koncecny hasn't received the same opportunities as Boeser. I don't think Boeser has proven he is worth "a lot" more - yet. I agree the potential is there. -

People are saying Boeser is that much better than Konecny. Not according to the stats. Konecny plays full seasons, less ATOI, Less PP opportunity, more physical and less favorable deployment - Ozone vs Dzone deployment. People saying Brock is worth $7.5 - $8.0 Million over 6 years are not looking at what Brock has yet to prove - IMO - to earn that much money as a young RFA with favorable deployment and some history being injured on a consistent basis (NHL and College) - I am not saying injury prone. I think this is a very reasonable and realistic comparison. Konecny: 1st round pick #24 Boeser: 1st round pick #23 -

Dubas isn't really a GM. He is Toronto's version of a GM. Someone who does whatever he wants and expects it to work out or someone or something else is to blame. -

In my opinion 3 years is the term at this point - no more no less. Fits well with the existing deals and gets Hughes and Petey past their ELC's - they will set the table. There will be a ton of the old contracts done including Eriksson and Luongo. I am stuck at $5.5 Million ($6.0 at the very most) based on current bridge deals and his performance to date taking into consideration he hasn't played a full season in the NHL and he also missed time in College due to injury - or let him sit unless a trade comes along that is just too good to turn down. I truly feel for his family situation but none of the parties have claimed it is what is holding up the deal. Its' money. -

It's interesting how owners get accused of collusion by the NHLPA and in other sports, yet these agents and players are obviously colluding, however, they say they are only doing what's best for their clients so the owners don't take advantage of them. Brock is young like all of these other RFA's but times like these confirm it is a business and money matters - a lot. Not saying I am naive enough to not understand this is how it is only that it confirms there is really no difference between the two parties. As I have said previously I cheer for the sweater above all else. If Brock is here great (I like him as a player and person) if not maybe a trade is not the end of the world (especially if he won't sign for a reasonable dollar and term) depending on the return. The Canucks need all hands on deck this year whether it's Brock or who we get in a trade. GO CANUCKS GO! -

I actually believe that to Dreger analogy be accurate except instead of being used by the team Dhaliwal is used by the players agent. Dhaliwal used to be fairly close, cautious and in the know = Credible. It now appears he is just like Dreger - a pawn who is fed misinformation to propagate a specific agenda - by the players agents = A TOOL. This plus when did he start the yelling schtick like he's Don Cherry. He gets on my nerves and I don't consider him an accurate source in my opinion. -

I am afraid he may need a change of scenery before he "gets it" if he ever does. The rumors were he was always bigger and faster than his peers and got by on that and his skill but never really put the work in. That won't work in the NHL. I would think if he doesn't perform in camp, work his tail off and convince the Canucks he finally gets it he is gone. The return won't be great at this point if this is the case.

Plus the bonus laden contracts. Totally reckless and lazy in my opinion. Dubas is a problem.
