  1. Based on the upside down market maybe things have reversed. Trade the overpriced RFA's for futures - picks and prospects - and sign the proven UFA's at a discount. Based on what RFA's are getting maybe the way to go is ELC's and UFA's. Wait until the NHLPA figures this out maybe they will throw the youngin's under the bus in the next negotiation it is a union.
  2. When my kids were small we asked pee or boomer. I have seen a lot of boomers in my day. So boomer is appropriate.
  3. I just hope Ferland picks his spots and situations. This team needs to adopt a "team toughness" attitude - pack mentality no more Mr Nice guy. There is enough size and toughness on this team especially when Roussel is back. You don't have to win em all but you gotta stand up for each other. Teams will take notice. But when the situation dictates I hope Ferland does his best Gino impression. Oh baby that place went nuts.
  4. He is the Blowhard Eklund of the airwaves - a parody really it's his shtick apparently. One of those guys that gave himself the nickname because it made him feel important. I am embracing the disrespect and will wear it like a badge. He is only saying what most of the league including the Head Office really think about our team anyways. My new motto is WHO CARES - NEXT. This team will surprise people this year I gotta feelin.
  5. I have no doubt it is at least at minimum a common understanding among these agents that the first to go sets the table. I also have no doubt at least some of them have spoken directly and will have included numbers. They want their percentage and the more the merrier.
  6. Sutter has had a few tough years in Vancouver for sure. He has basically had one decent season - 2016-17. The others have been a disappointment (and injury riddled) but then so has basically the whole team - not a very good roster. If you dig deeper his numbers basically reflect how bad the team was as a whole - not just him alone. His D zone start rate is pretty hefty with tons of defensive ice time which won't help anyone's stats. I want to see him healthy and on this current roster before passing final judgement on the player. His salary has definitely not been reflective of value so far. As far as the term "Shutdown Center" goes I always though that was reserved for a player who was given a specific assignment to shadow the other teams star like Gretzky or ? during a game or playoff series - not something over a whole year. Kesler was given that role at times. I always viewed players like Sutter as more of a defensively responsible two way center who could PK and was good at faceoffs. I am hopeful he becomes that good two way center we thought we were getting. It would sure make the Canucks deep down the middle and free up Bo and Miller for top six duty.
  7. Boeser believes what he is asking for is "fair". After all the grief Benning has taken over some of his signings (not unfairly) and knowing the local market Benning is likely being very careful how this ends up - money and term. It will set the table for the young RFA's on the way like Hughes and Petey etc and let him know how much cap he has over the short term until the new US TV deal. It is a fairly important one to get right. Hopefully it gets done and they can focus on the upcoming season they have invested in a lot. I think both sides want a longer term and that is what's taking so long .
  8. I am hoping for this one. Ferland can provide all the woodchoppers and some of the butt kicks.
  9. I am still trying to figure out how working out with pirates improves your game. I always thought they drank too much and were lazy. If it works I am in.
  10. I agree on JT spending time on EP's line. Especially when there is an offensive zone draw. I also think you may see Horvat play in that same situation. TG can always role Ferland Miller Pearson on the next shift and adjust back from there. With all the different quality variations available this could be interesting especially in game and on the fly. Having said that I am also hoping for some consistent line combinations that work. Exciting times.
  11. This. If he can/did put on 10-15lbs of muscle, worked on his core strength plus the new skate blade profile he won't need anymore size to play his game. He will be quicker and more stable - harder to knock off the puck. He seemed to fall down a lot last year reminiscent of the Sedin's early on. They worked extremely hard on their fitness, edge work and core strength and boy did it make a difference.
  12. I really think Juolevi has had some unreasonable expectations placed on him especially based on his draft position. Not all players as we have seen (put any of many names here from many teams) step right in and reflect their high draft position in the NHL right out of the gate. He is only 21 years old and has suffered a couple of injury set backs. For some perspective on his game and where it was at in October here is a link that indicates there may be a high ceiling. The defensive side of the game may need some work but indications from where he was trending are he will get there and the upside may be well worth the wait. With the new additions on the blue line he has time and I believe it will take some pressure off him and he will flourish. https://canucksarmy.com/2018/10/30/olli-juolevi/
  13. He has never been a physical player and has always relied on his two way game which was decent enough to be a top six supporting player. Unless you are a high end offensive talent the way you remain in the league over time as your offensive game starts to decline is by adapting or re-defining your role/game. The issue is that he does not appear willing to make the changes or accept the reality. Of all of JB's moves this one is having the most serious impact and lingering affect - cap hit. I don't know how they can resolve this amicably at this point. It's just bad. Maybe they find another "bad deal" that works out better for each team involved like Lucic and Neal. They may just need to apply pressure to make him go away - Utica. This could get even uglier and camp will show if they can even fit him in.
  14. They all occurred inadvertently in front of the players bench while heading for a line change.
  15. 29 other GM's + Benning did not = 30. 1 who did = 31 So the other 29 GM's
  16. Yeah really don't think Maroon signs in Vancouver and especially for $900K. Tampa is still a favorite to win the Cup and that's why he is there. Benning can't miss what's not available. If Benning missed so did 29 other GM's.
  17. It's an attempt to take even more pressure and media focus off Juolevi. If he is a boss in camp and did happen to make the team what a positive story that would be. He can use some time in Utica to get up to speed after the most recent injury. I would imagine if healthy he will be the first call up.
  18. I guess it's new jersey season Edmonton just released their newest version:
  19. The issue where you state as fact something you end up admitting is an assumption to support and propagate your argument/opinion = you have no credibility with me. You need to expand your world and Dahlen needs to grow up. I won't play your strawman game anymore. Have a great day!
  20. This whole issue is a non-issue as admitted above. Fabricated and contrived by Timrafan. Ridiculous Virtue Signaling at it's finest to puff oneself up. Nothing to see here. Wow.
  21. So you have based your whole premise and hundreds of comments on an "assumption" based on Dahlen's lack of compete, ability to make it and whining to the media? You Sir have no credibility on this matter in my opinion. Ridiculous drivel spewed endlessly and you have incited people to argue an issue that has zero factual basis. Shameful.
  22. Maybe that was why the Coach was yelling at him because he wouldn't listen. Besides, where is the proof that the Coach was yelling at anyone? And if so maybe it was well deserved especially for a player that won't listen to instruction but does whatever he wants without thinking of how it affects his team. These are men not children. This is getting ridiculous. If he is good enough he will be back - I am skeptical yet ready to admit I was wrong if and when. For his sake I hope he proves me wrong.
  23. Not sure if this link has been posted. Video analysis of Keppen. Pretty positive.
