  1. I could have been more clear. The comparison should have stated vs "peer competition" not vs "each other". I love Horvat's game. I just think/hope Gaudette may have that other offensive gear and flair that Bo may not. I am not saying Gaudette is a better player, just potentially more gifted offensively. The Canuck's sure could use it. Like a 2A and 2B center scenario depending on the situation. I can dream.
  2. My main point is that the progression for Gaudette and potential to excel are there historically, at a high level compared to peers. Gaudette had a 52 point season in 37 games the prior year to winning the Hobey and Scoring title. Bo never won the Calder or Rookie scoring race or a Junior scoring title - compared to his peers. I agree Bo is a very good player and has proven his game at the NHL level. I just believe Gaudette has the potential to be a very good offensive player based on his history. All I am saying is let's wait to see Gaudette play a full season or two in the NHL before we determine his offensive potential - he has proven his ability in past.
  3. 2 years of NCAA. He won the Hobey Baker Award and the NCAA scoring title is my point. It means he has excelled at playing offense beyond his peers and the potential is there - that's the point.
  4. Level of competition is the focus not to discount Horvat. My point is Gaudette has faired well against harder/older competition historically and done well offensively - NCAA and AHL. To say he doesn't have the potential at this stage is premature. I never stated he would be better, but the potential is there.
  5. Here are Horvat's stats in the OHL and AHL. Yes he has transitioned well and is a good player. He has never been lauded for his offense. Responsible two way player. I am a huge Horvat fan by the way. Here are Gaudette's NCAA and AHL stats. He also won the Hobey Baker award playing against men in the NCAA. To say that Gaudette doesn't have the "potential" to be better offensively after only 37 games is a bit premature and limiting based on his achievements. Time will tell. Edit: I could have been more clear. The comparison should have stated vs "peer competition" not vs "each other".
  6. I believe Sutter will get dealt after the season, maybe at the draft. He will be healthy and Gaudette should be ready by next year for a full time role. I can envision Gaudette having more offensive upside than Horvat (depending on the wingers) and Bo may draw the matchups defensively. Sutter's Limited NTC doesn't kick in until next season 2019 - 2020.
  7. The problem is the Sharks would laugh. I was at the Canuck's and Sharks game. Dillon is way better with the puck than Gudbranson and he played way more aggressive. Dillon was noticeable in a good way. If they could leverage Gudbranson + + to get Huberdeau I am on that wagon.
  8. Well 12 goals is better than 6 goals, 116 hits is better than 10 hits, 28 blocked shots is better than 13 blocked shots, 2 PP goals is better than 1 PP goal especially when he hardly sees PP time. Oh and yeah I agree let's just toss out the takeaway giveaway stat cause it is probably totally inaccurate. Back on topic I was at the game last night. MacEwen didn't look out of place. A bit hesitant early but looked good after the first period. His size and positioning allowed him time and space. Decent hands and read the play well. If he continues to improve he will be a good one. Tough game for Dipietro, his body language said it all - shouldn't have been put in that position. I felt bad for the kid.
  9. **36 takeaways vs 17 giveaways **14 takeaways vs 23 giveaways Jake brings things to the bottom six that this team needs. 8 of Goldobin's 24 points came on the PP (7 assists) and you are right he does get chances/set up but he just can't finish. I am okay with sitting Granlund, but Goldobin needs to be top six then. I am just not impressed with Goldobin's compete level nor his inability to finish grade A opportunities, Each to their own.
  10. Hutton - Stecher Tanev - Biega Brisebois - Gudbranson
  11. Fair enough. However, if there are players who have earned or deserve an opportunity or a look then someone has to sit out. In this case it's Pouliot. It would be nice to know where some of these players are at before the deadline.
  12. You may be right, but that's not what I would like to see. Goldobin will get eaten alive by the Sharks based on their current level of play. Granlund can kill penalties and play a defensive role. I think that would make an interesting line and Bo and Roussel can help Zack play some "offense" rather than be on Sutter's shutdown line. Time to see some of these young guys play in a favorable position. On a side note I am tiring of Greene's favoritism towards Pouliot. He needs to sit and others be given an opportunity.
  13. Well I hope they actually let him play. Goldobin can take a seat and I would like to see Zack on Bo's wing with Roussel on the other. I would also like to see Brisebois get a chance. He can't be much worse than Pouliot is currently. I will be at the game tonight so I would like to see both get an opportunity. Leivo - Pete - Boeser Roussel - Bo - Zack Granlund - Sutter - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - Eriksson Tanev - Gudbranson Hutton - Stecher Brisebois - Biega Markstrom - if the Canucks are down by more than 2 goals after the 2nd period put Dipietro in for the 3rd period.
  14. It may be best for him to shut it down for the remainder of the year. He is a young man starting a family and concussion symptoms can linger and recur. Crosby has recovered but he took time when it was needed. Better safe than sorry. All the best Sven.
  15. That's approx. USD $44,304.00 per inch. Sounds about right but doesn't compare to the $2,914,304.00 Rubles per inch in the KHL.
  16. That's quite ironic. I wonder if the media people are working with JB? Maybe they should start there Pettersson is awesome: "Stop asking stupid questions please........ It hurts my brain"
  17. He has played both. I would think he plays wing in the NHL when he gets the opportunity, especially at first.
  18. In all seriousness it was confirmed by his Mother on Swedish TV when, I quote, she is overheard saying "E.P. Phone Home"
  19. Does anyone know if its the same knee he had his previous surgery on?
  20. Willie was in over his head. It showed on and off the ice. Shame really. I wonder if Greene would want to deal with this (all over again) and what he thinks of Tryamkin as a player. If Greene doesn't want him (and the past and potential issues) then this is all moot.
  21. I wonder how it would go now with Greene coaching the team? I am not supporting the previous regimes methods or how things went down, but I am curious how Tryamkin would deal with the existing regime. Greene expects certain things and buy in from his players or they get to spend time "watching." We have see this with numerous players. Some several times and counting. How would Tryamkin react to all the video sessions, extra one on one practices, sitting out games, missing prolonged periods of a game when Greene will bench/sit players if their play was not deserving of ice time? Greene does employ some tough love at times. I am not certain things would fair much better unless Tryamkin is prepared to put in the work and check his ego/expectations. It would be a bad thing for team chemistry and what they are trying to build if he cant.
  22. I tried to find anything regarding which knee was surgically repaired. Do you know if it is the same one that was previously repaired or is it the other knee? If it's the same knee as before I am more concerned.
  23. In any event waive him and see what happens. If he's taken oh well he was a UFA. I wouldn't want to retain unless it was for a decent pick (or prospect) preferably not a late round pick. The contract, roster spot and cap space are benefit enough.
  24. I would think Benning has been trying to see whats out there for him. My guess would be not much if anything. $1.9MM with another year remaining is a fair bit for a border line fourth liner who is is currently in the dog house.
