  1. Agreed, there are players in Utica that deserve some time with the big club and can replace Schaller if needed. Time to cycle some of the Utica guys in to see where they are at in any event. I would waive him sooner rather than later, some teams are looking for players and a shake up: cough cough Edmonton.
  2. I agree he won't retire. Never mentioned or thought he would. That is why I mentioned trade and showed his contract status.....
  3. "Maybe" a cost saving team that has cap space and or needs to hit the cap floor. Until 2020-21 season he has a NTC so he would have to agree. One can only dream......
  4. I would like to see them try Gaudette on Bo's RW when Pettersson returns, if they keep Adam up with the big club. Leivo - Alien - Flow Baer - Bo - Gaud Granny (Eriksson) - Bones - Flash Antman - Snoopy - Clamato I'm not sure Goldobin will survive the dog house. Man it would be nice to get something for Eriksson........sigh I know. My preference is still many minutes in all situations in Utica until the deadline or injury recall for Adam.
  5. Oh sweet . if you see him again give him a kick in the crackers from we would ya please. Thanks.
  6. Could he leave the CHL after this season, start the year in say Finland where Palmu is playing, then sign with the Comets/Canucks after the season started? Or would the CHL still hold his rights and he would need to return to junior?
  7. Is it the same knee he had surgery on previously?
  8. Agreed. It's nice to know the Canucks are nearing the stage when players who aren't pulling their weight can be let go/moved without being held hostage by wondering who will take their place or what they will get in return. Depth and legitimate prospects are becoming more of a reality and allow moves that make room for better options. Finally.
  9. I would shut him down until the New Year at this point. He and Sutter can come back together. I think the Canucks will need to make a move prior to them returning. Wonder if that's why we are hearing the Burakovsky rumors. Goldobin?
  10. I believe it's called the Jerry Springer effect. When you have no real news or credibility you sink to the lowest common denominator to create a following - any following. Next up on 1040 - NHL Insider - Cherry Stringer ........
  11. Players like Tangradi only respond to two things. 1) Force vs force (fight) or 2) physical treatment to other vulnerable players on their team (hit their younger less physical players - hard). It's just how it works. In a perfect world players like Tangradi who hit to injure are not in the league. By the way I love clean physical play.
  12. The Comets are in a developmental league. Sometimes things/players take time to develop. These young players need ice time. Thats just how this works. Give Benning another draft or two and a couple of years for players to develop and I think Comets and Canucks fans will be pleased.
  13. Agreed or maybe even as a package for something better.
  14. I envision Nilsson being dealt at the deadline (his contract expires this year) and bring up Demko if he is healthy. Demko can play some games this year and if he looks ready then he can platoon with Markstrom ( 1 year left on his contract after this year) next year. If all pans out then Markstrom can move on or be retained as the back up after next year unless there are better options.
  15. Draft year bio: Virtanen has a nice range of skills, including a terrific shot and a gritty style. The Hockey News' bio summed up his ability well, saying, "Is a natural scorer with soft hands and an excellent skating stride. Also boasts very good size for the wing position in the NHL. Is effective on either side of center." Look at who was projected top ten in 2014 by Mckenzie: 1 - Aaron Ekblad, Barrie - OHL 2 - Sam Reinhart, Kootenay - WHL 3 - Sam Bennett, Kingston - OHL 4 - Leon Draisaitl, Prince Albert - WHL 5 - Michael Dal Colle, Oshawa - OHL 6 - Nick Ritchie, Peterborough - OHL 7- Jake Virtanen, Calgary - WHL 8 - Hayden Fleury, Red Deer - WHL 9 - William Nylander - Modo - SwedishL 10 - Nikolaj Ehlers - Halifax - QMJHL Look at the list above. At this point I like the pick based on the information and consensus at the time. Virtanen continues to improve and has the size, skill and speed to be a solid top six winger. I have noticed how he is gaining confidence and believes he belongs. (ask Phaneuf or any of the other players he has run over or have bounced off him when they try and hit him) Its showing in his game and physicality. I admit early on I had concerns over his maturity level and commitment. I am happy to say he is proving those concerns wrong at this point.
  16. For Gaudette's future development I hope so. A month or two (or the rest of the season and a playoff run with the other prospects) in Utica can't hurt him at all. It will give him a chance to work on his offense and gain some confidence.
  17. Have they said if its the same knee he previously had surgically repaired?
  18. I don't see Jones being an improvement especially based on the quality of team(s) he has played on vs Markstrom. Markstrom has had to work a lot harder as well. Markstrom: SA GA SV% Jones:
  19. Could he be improved upon, certainly. So could the rest of the team as a whole. I don't put this losing streak on him and I'm fairly certain there aren't many goalies who could have stopped it on their own.
  20. Because he plays for a better team that wins more than they lose. It's connected. Not simply isolated. Would Jones win more in Vancouver in the same situation. I'm not convinced.
  21. There is a difference between a starter (yes there are different levels of starters as well) and a world class goalie. Starter is somewhat dependent on the situation. Anders Nilsson wins Gold at the World Hockey Championship - starter or situational. Put Markstrom on that same team does he win Gold? (or any number of other goalies) Markstrom was just fine before everyone was injured and the road trip from hell. Markstrom is far from world class - but how many world class goalies are there? Markstrom is not the real problem here.
