  1. Viktor Arviddson - 5'9 - 180 lbs Brayden Point - 5'10 - 166 lbs Brad Marchand - 5'9 - 181 lbs Jonathan Marchessault - 5'9 - 174 lbs Mathieu Perreault - 5'10 - 188 lbs The league has changed and there is a place for small gritty skilled forwards. I like Palmu and I like his confidence.
  2. I could see the following pairings (and 8 D) barring a trade, unreal showing from someone on the Comets (Sautner) or FA signing: Edler / Gudbranson OJ / Tanev MDZ / Stecher - Pouliot Biega I think Hutton may be traded or waived (I know who will pick him up with his cap hit. He is still young enough someone may take a chance) It's beginning to look alot better in my opinion.
  3. Man if he could become anything close to Pastrnak (dreaming I know). One thing I have noticed about Czech players is that they typically seem to play with passion. I remember watching the Czech team play Canada in the Olympics and they played an edgy and aggressive game. No backing down or shying away from contact.
  4. My point was it wouldn't be that surprising if you look at what he has actually accomplished at his age in a high level men's league compared to 19 year old rookies coming out of junior hockey playing against 17 and 18 year olds.
  5. Usually I would agree, but he isn't a "rookie" in the sense of a typical 19 or 20 year old coming out of the CHL. He has basically been playing at the same level as the AHL in a men's league (some would argue higher level from a skill perspective but maybe not a physicality perspective) and was the league leading scorer and probably best offensive player. He turned 19 after the beginning of the season. He is only going to get better. I think this kid may really surprise some people especially if he has the right line mate (s) and opportunity like 1st unit PP.
  6. If the current trend continues we will always have an abundance of bottom tier borderline defensemen, like all the other teams in the NHL. If he is the best of the bottom then bring him on.
  7. We have too many 6, 7, 8, 9 D. And yes you can have too many especially when you are trying to draft and develop players with more upside.
  8. \we need more 6/7 D IMO. Can never have too many, oh wait.........
  9. Has there been any news on how long MacEwen is out? Is it a concussion?
  10. As the saying goes it takes a village to raise a child. I believe it takes a "team" to raise the Cup. The more players on a team that have leadership qualities the better. As long as they don't all want to be "The Leader." I say let the Captaincy work itself out over time. It isn't something that should be forced or managed.
  11. Can he get out of (or Canucks buy out) his Czech League contract and sign with the Canucks / Comets for next year?
  12. Could it just be that he is another player who has all the potential in the world but does not have the desire, commitment or work ethic to do what it takes to succeed in the NHL. He appears satisfied to get paid well (compared to the majority of other Russians) to play a game without really having to work hard at it in his home country surrounded by family and friends. That's what I see anyways. It's his life.
  13. Just like the Sedin's he will go about his business and produce while receiving no meaningful respect outside the team and fan base. Love EP's high end skills and potential (along with Boeser) but you also need some players that will haul the bacon and break some eggs in this league. I am glad that Benning is adding some of those players with skill that will push back - Lind / Gadjovich / MacEwen and Gaudette to some extent.
  14. The young guys usually do and should say the right thing regarding a veteran. I look at his level of engagement and effort which "appears" to be indifferent on a fairly regular basis. I have seen quite a few games live over the past few years. If he's a leader then I don't recognize it in his play on a nightly basis. Just my opinion.
  15. It may be worth trading him and retaining some salary if they could possibly find a taker for cap purposes (to meet the minimum threshold) like an Arizona. They get the cap hit but don't have to pay all of the salary. I mean its 4 more years of this. He just appears to be there in body but not spirit, it is strange. I don't see him as a mentor or leader either which would be helpful to the younger players.
  16. Size is nice but the NHL has changed. If by Franchise player you mean generational talent, well that's a different story. There are "very" few of those and I for one don't expect him to be a generational talent no matter how much he weighs. Elias Pettersson - 6'2 - 165 lbs at 19 years old. Patrick Kane - 5'11 - 175 lbs / Johnny Gaudreau - 5'9 - 157 lbs / Nik Ehlers - 6'0 - 172 lbs / Nik Kucherov - 5'11 - 178 lbs The list goes on.
  17. I would personally like to see both if possible. Would make for a nice 1 -2 punch in the top four. Pair them with mobile partners who can join the rush. Nice first unit PK pairing as well.
  18. I think it is actually named the Golden Shower Award or is that the award Brad Marchand deserved after the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs ?
  19. As I have said, I hope Gaunce makes it. For his sake and the Canucks.
  20. And your analysis and assumptions prove you don't even understand the absurdity of the comparison. They used the two most respected and successful players in Canucks history, who overcame huge odds to be extremely successful to support their wishful projection of an underperforming borderline NHL player in Gaunce. I focused on those points.
  21. Because it is an awful comparison and couldn't be a more different set of circumstances or respective skill sets or roles. That's how it doesn't relate. Not sure what your point is? Maybe provide some information or an opnion or proof, like what is Gaunce's 'peak' performance based on his sample of games to date and based on his respective skill set? Not sure why you don't understand? I find it disrespectful to the Sedins' accomplishemnts based on their circumstances.
  22. What particular game does Gaunce offer that relates in any way to the Sedins'? And as the stats indicate the Sedins' did pretty well for 20 year old rookies, picked top 3 in a highly publicized draft, they had huge expectations and pressure, were new to North America and had to learn to play on smaller ice in an era with a much more physically punishing style of play. So if they meant it may take Gaunce time to develop a game, okay. Yes he is defensively responsible. But in no way can he be compared to the Sedins or their circumstances.
