EDIT: Potential Performance Bonuses: Pettersson - $2.85 Million Hughes - $850,000 Gaudette: $850,000 -
I like Stecher but if he gets us Barrie I make that trade. Highly unlikely Stecher alone is enough. The real issue is how much does Barrie want in his next contract. If the rumors of $7-8 Million/yr is true he won't be here past this year anyways. So likely a non-starter unless he is a rental.

I hadn't noticed this before but at least 3 of the goals scored on Demko in the Avalanche game were blocker side. I wonder if that's the book on him or just a coincidence. It's something they can obviously work on if it is.

Guns and Roses. His voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. Worst vocals ever. This guy can sing. -

Donald Trump. The NHL will be HUGE. No more penalties and everyone gets a free twitter account. -

But won't this make it nearly impossible for the LA Kings to ever sign a free agent again. They won't want to go there now....... This is how it should be. Earn the contract or get released. However, this guaranteed money really handcuffs teams when players don't perform. There must be a better system. Maybe more like the NFL. Certain amounts guaranteed the rest is performance/results based etc.

[Report] Roberto Luongo joins Panthers front office

I think they have plans for a new arena. It will be shaped like a cone. It will be filled with Calgary supporters and Matthew Tkachuk. Apparently they will be having a contest seeking name suggestions. Wish I could come up with a good one. I'm drawing a blank. -
[Report] Roberto Luongo joins Panthers front office

Never said it was illegal. It is wrongful deception. He was unable to play with known chronic hip problems. He made his choice. He did seek employment - with the team that it directly benefited. I am not asking you to agree just like you have every right to your opinion. He didn't fake an injury - he chose not to use a real documented one as his reason to stop playing. -

Lou makes his own decisions. He knew the consequences of his decision. He was unable to play any longer. He made his choice. I made mine. I am not mad at him. I am just calling the situation from my perspective. I choose to see it from the Canucks situation over Luongo and the Panthers. Bettman isn't worth the energy. -

But why did he retire instead of going on long term injury? He had known health/hip issues and was not capable of playing any longer. So he retires? Only reason not to go on long term injury is so he can help out his new employer who happens to be in the same league and business as the team he leaves hanging - to his new employers advantage. Call it what you want. I call it collusion and fraud. -
I plug him on Bo's right wing and keep him there. It's too bad Sutter appears hurt and Ferland is out. JT - EP - Boeser Ferland - Bo - Gaudette Pearson - Sutter - Virtanen Schaller - Beagle - Leivo Motte Roussel is a huge bonus when he is back. Man if this team was healthy they sure could do some damage. The only upgrade/bonus would be a legit (60-70 point) top six winger for Bo.

Well if Loui is actually doing this to this team then I have less respect for him than if he just did the right thing. The game has obviously passed him by and he is mailing it in. If I am his teammate and this is the case, I certainly don't want him on my team. Just go away, collect your money next July and then retire.
-
This is just sad. How can they keep him in the lineup. It goes against everything they have said matters. Enough already. Send him to Utica and sit him in the press box until he goes away. Call up someone who deserves to play and can actually keep up with the game.

I started curling for work a few years ago. I have been involved in team sports my whole life and thought of curling as boring and for out of shape people. I am converted. It is a great way to spend time with some quality people and get some exercise. I have acquired an interest in watching now that I understand the strategy. I appreciate the yelling as I play lead and second and spend a lot of time sweeping. It takes away any doubt, is kinda fun and motivating. There are also usually beverages/cocktails involved apres curling.

Benn will likely move up and play RD with Hughes. Stecher and the Fantom can play as a pair.

Podkolzin is an 18 year old playing for one of the best organizations in the KHL. He actually played games (3) as a 17 year old. They are known for their player development and competitive culture. He is the youngest player on the team. It may not be ideal, but by their willingness to shuttle him between their 3 leagues (teams) I think they are trying to help his development. It would be like a 17/18 year old playing in the AHL. He is playing against men already. I am not worried about his development but I am also not expecting him to be an impact player for at least 2-3 years like any other 18 year old. They recognize and develop good players it seems.

Basically this. Nils Jackie Moonlander.

Jake is not and will not be a fighter. Does that mean he shouldn't hit? Tons of guys throw hits in this league and don't fight. If he throws a dirty or illegal hit then sure stand up for it. Motte had the most hits on the team last year. How many fights did Motte have? Zero from my memory. Should Jake have to fight because his hits are sometimes bigger? I say to the other team grow a pair. It is a contact sport. One of the reasons we are seeing less hitting is because if you throw a good one guess what you gotta fight. I for one want more clean hitting. Fighting should be reserved for players policing the dirty crap. Jake is being groomed - if some want to call that being gifted opportunities then that's your view. TG has invested a lot of time on Jake on and off the ice. I think he see's what we all see and as a coach he is trying to help him get there. TG doesn't seem like the kind of coach who will waste his time if he didn't see progress or hope. I think this is the make or break year for Jake.

All this talk about the Miller trade being a bad trade is based on assuming the worst. When we don't actually know what/who that pick/ player ends up being until the final product is a known. There is a word for that type of thinking/approach to an argument. They use the extreme worst case scenario as their position. Then act as though you have to defend that - not the actual facts. People who favor the trade or think it was a reasonable trade then have to to defend it based on their position even though logic says: 1) We don't know what number pick that 1st rounder will be. 2) We don't know if that player will ever play 1 game in the NHL 3) We don't know if that player will be a capable top 6 forward or top 4 defenceman if and when they do make the NHL 4) We don't know if Tampa possibly trades that pick for ????? 5) Miller is a known and proven NHL player 6) that can play as a top six forward 7) plays all forward positions and is a very capable center 8) has leadership qualities 9) is proving himself "currently" not "potentially" 2 to 5 years from now. 10) Miller was also a 1st round pick taken 15th overall. 11) Signed to a very reasonable contract of 4 years at $5.25M with no trade protection. 12) I may have missed some....... Makes absolutely no sense. Unless the reason really is that they don't like Benning? By the time this plays out they won't have to defend their strawman. Yet they will come back to remind us they were correct if the strawman materializes. Not really a fair debate. This is why I try hard to avoid these. It is an exercise in futility.

Really like the make up of this team and legitimate depth has finally arrived and will continue to get deeper - pretty exciting. I do however think the current version needs another legit top six winger (preferably RW) at 60-70 points+ (along with team health) to even put them into the equation as potential contenders. Cap space is an issue so it will need to be via trade or hopefully one could emerge. More likely via trade route. EDIT: Would be interesting to see what the $9M tied up in Eriksson and Luongo could get at the trade deadline this year. Cap space would have been a nice luxury. Coulda woulda shoulda.
