[GDT] 2021 NHL Expansion Draft
Dannydog replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Theres a couple of Dmen the canucks where hoping would sign with them. Seattle will trade them at a steep price. Where will benning be looking to get this RHD that we desperately need? -

Isn't it also heavily rumored seattle is interested in holtby with a bit of cap kept?. Maybe there is a deal in place there where lind or gadge aren't even a part of the conversation. To early to jump the gun on guesses on who seattle picks or not. -

It wont be under 2 mill so no point in setting yourself up for some disappointment. At 3mill would be great. -
"Lucky teammate" Lucky how ,weird question.
-
This is very encouraging, wrist seems to look just fine.
-
He wont get any minutes reduced, He does not have the footspeed which is why he backs up so much on the rush with horrible gap control. Or they'll close in on him to fast and its a penalty every time, pick 1 a trip or holding. The knee on hymen type stuff is the result on bad decision making, went for the hit got beat so he stuck out the leg. Cant make a breakout pass without icing it or it getting intercepted. Offensively....... nothing. Management needs to focus on get bigger RH D to allow our young LHD stars to show what they have not have old LHD take up prime minutes with predictable results.
-
Wait, an $8mil defenceman for 7 more year that cant defend. A career minus player. Isn't that the exact opposite of what we need? We have young puck moving defencemen that will serve us better for way less. Need big strong RHD with grit. Why even entertain these thoughts even if they take loui!!!! 1 more year, let the youth show what they got and evaluate what we have then with just the Luongo recap to sort out. Hitching up with OEL is just the next ball and chain for van but for way longer. Terrrible idea.
-
Joulevi paying a 5/6 dman roll hughes top pairing with hamonic and 1 or 2 potential RHD's on show- me 1 yr deals. Cap will be no problem next year so management has time to find out if joulevi is going to put it together or jack needs more time. Edler should step back for a year or 2 then join the twins in the organization.

[Discussion] Defensive Targets: Gavrikov and Cernak

If he's ALMOST an edler replacement we dont want -
If Eddys on the team he will not be played less minutes. Greener will still try to get more out of him even with the same results. Get bigger RHD to improve the "kids" chances to get better not shelter.
-
I guess we will see shortly if he takes a pay cut to help out his team but for him to take on contract for 1m/2 yrs I highly doubt. Getting solid RHD partner for OJ ( i bet rathbone spends alot of time in Abbotsford, as do a few of our upcoming prospects. First year.... I bet management would like to impress!!) or 2 on short 1yr show me deals has more potential for success then resigning edler. Maybe OJ doesn"t have Edler size but he surely has his IQ and much better puck moving skills, shot and passing by far. Time will tell and i hope that times given to the future not past players.
-
Id much rather spend the 1.5 - 2mil that most posters think he's worth now on a younger stay at home RHD for the same. There might be some risk but also some reward. Not even just last year with Eddy, he's shown he's lost a step ( actually a few). His offensive game is done, it seemed like he was just hammering it at the net . Hitting the first defender playing high on him or not even waiting on a player to screen the keeper. Iced passes or interceptions were common place. Getting hemmed in our end was inevitable. Taking bad penaltys is a result of his decline and that's hard to ignore. The mans been a warrior for many years on the canucks blueline and deserves much respect so i hope they let him walk or retire this year so i can recall all those great years not the last few bad ones when i think of Eddy.

2 different styles, both very much needed.
-
Rathbones first nhl goal against edmonton was a beauty. He 'll just have to work harder which isnt a problem for this kid.
-
Rathbone had no problem transitioning into Foxs position when he got drafted either. Actually did a lights out job. nothing suggests rathbone wouldn't have the same success fox is having his first year.
-
Olli will be just fine , relax and enjoy the show.

Great read ty google

Canucks and AVS/ TAMPA [Discussion]
Dannydog replied to PunjabiCanucks's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Very few canucks fans see this or choose not to. Florida is turning the corner now after how many years, Minny? No team is built for longevity from a gimme now attitude. -
What did it cost the leafs to ice this team? Any prospects or draft picks? I'm a 100% convinced the only reason they went all out this year was due to the North division alignment. kyle and staff figured they have the best opportunity of getting out of the first round because of last years domination of the Canadian teams as a whole. Love how that ended up.
