[Signing] Canucks sign Vasili Podkolzin
Dannydog replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Do you think he comes over as soon as possible? Maybe get acclimatized , Covid restrictions hopefully concede a bit ,let these young guys gel and hang out more freely. I'm excited for the team next year. -

Is there any timeline for him coming to Van? Maybe off season training with someone? Looking into a place to live? -
Basing it on his own opinion. Just opposite of washed up,OHL has been, ahl max potential when he hasn’t played enough to warrant even a whiff of such statements. What are you basing it on?

Benning just eluded to this in an interview with dhaliwal saying that green likes to play vets over prospects. I think if Edler signs the same thing will happen. But Edler doesn't have it for those minutes, and it will go right back to taking a string of penalties because he isn't fast enough. Gotta give the guys the chance to prove it. Both olli and rathbone can exit or make passes out of our D zone with much more efficiency and reliability. Far far less icings or intercepted passes then what eddy offered up . lets not start on the offensive side of his game . There will be bad plays made ,mistakes on coverage but this is pushing our future defensemen not relying on the past. Pick up another defensive dman if we need to help shelter them while they master their craft. Eddy wont sign for less than 2 mil in my opinion, there will be a few more capable short term guys available that will sign for less or the same during the off season.

I think there's a RHD-man that'll be available that cost around 2 mil (hopefully less) that can effectively cover what Eddy did last season. Rathbone and Olli will cover the LD side more effectively before mid season next year. At less cost. Time to move on , I do really wish he'd got that 100th goal though.

Expansion draft: A golden opportunity for the Canucks
Dannydog replied to Rudo's topic in Canucks Talk
Again, that's quite a statement . Took him a bit to get it going after the injuries but im not sure what this issue is that's been "dogging him this whole time". Management called him up from Utica once they felt he was in a good enough position physically to play in the NHL and train with nucks coaching and training staff. I've only ever seen 1 person, a poster not part of the training staff, no media, no insider ever say Olli cant pivot. You see this a lot on CDC. Parrot away -

His whole career? Any facts to back that? -
Maybe rouse if no trades available would be a great add in Abby for the prospects. He's always giving it his all , even if his knees aren't what they were. Pretty fair roll model for gadj, lind ,lockwood. Id like to see Olli in over Eddy. Both players going into different trajectories. Olli and our D youth are ready to go, just need the chance. With Eddys moneys sign a mid lvl stay at home RD man to help the transition.

So, does Petey get his shot back? Get that flex in that stick back to where he's shooting at 98mph again ?

Canucks end of season player media availability
Dannydog replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I disagree kind or hardheaded. For me the fear of Eddy coming back next year is that greener will play him those 18-22 min per game . He cannot play those mins effectively any more. Rathbone and Olli need next year to show they can and also need those mins to grow for our future. From what they've shown this year there's a very good chance playing both can cover Eddys min with the addition of UFA stay at home RHD . -
Francesco Aquilini owes Canuck Nation an explanation.

Ridiculous -
i think if Edler comes back Green will still give him far to many minutes relying on the Vets again. The young guys coming in can cover what Edlers been doing this year by committee and in turn allows them to build up their games. At the worst add a cheap stay at home RHD as insurance.
