Makar is also basically a full year older and more developed than Quinn. So in this sense, I give Quinn the edge.

Cap wise it definitely doesn't make the most sense. However, Buffalo needs a shake up and major changes are coming. JB has been quoted that he will move a forward as this is the most crowded position in the organization. Canucks have been linked to Ristolainen in recent years when it comes to trade rumours so I won't be surprise that JB will try to make a play for Ristolainen. Tanev is definitely a better defensive defenseman than Ristolainen and Risolainen has better offensive capabilities. His defensive game also to a big step forward this passed season. I can see the organization choose to go with a young RHD in Ristolaien who is still 25 y/o and will fit the age group of the core better by just moving on from Tanev and bring in Rostolainen for the future.

I can see Virtanen be part of a package for Ristolainen in Buffalo.

From what I heard and read here, seems like his more of a PP specialist and offensive force. Meanwhile OJ plays in all situations including the PK.

me being stupid and didn't read carefully enough. I deserve to be the joke

If he wanted to go to the Kings should've packaged him in the Toffoli trade earlier instead of Madden. Canucks still own his rights. So we will see where we go from here.

NHL Play-In Predictions! (Cast your vote)
ruilin96 replied to Rush17's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Hypothetically speaking: Chicago beats Edmonton in play-in, and then they won their 1st round as well. Vancouver beats Minnesota and also won our first round. We face the Blackhawks in the 2nd round again. Who gets home ice (as in who gets last change for an extra game)? Would Chicago be considered the "home team" because they are now the #5 seed and Vancouver is the #7 seed or would we revert to Regular Season points total with Canucks gets home ice as the Canucks have more points and point percentage? -
I always wonder where do people get cars with the driver's seat on the right here in Canada. Because I don't think we manufacture cars like those here.

There are going to be bust in every 1st round, no matter what happens. I despite NJD with 2 1st OA picks, so wouldn't mind see them be the team that eventually end up with a bust. It is not targeting a specific player, it is just bound to happen and I hope that bust is in NJD. However, if I like the kid that is drafted at that position, I would change my mind and root for that kid. However, right now as it stands, I just hope NJD is a team that draft a bust. Also if Tampa Bay still have the pick, I would not want the player to be turn out as a bust because they are not NJD.
-
If the player NJD picks with our pick becomes a bust would be ideal. That way we can run away 100% win the JT Miller trade. Playoffs this year would be completely open for all the teams. It no longer matters which team is the better team (atleast the first couple of rounds), because it is more of a matter of who can get back into best form than the others. So it is a wide open playoffs this year IMO. Whoever can get hot early can run with the momentum and go far.
-
To me, if we can just make it to the Conference Finals and make that 1st round pick we traded away to be in the 28-31 range would be ideal.

In a 7 game playoff series, I would rather have Virtanen on my team than Ehlers/Nylander.
-
Brock before he got injured had the best wrist shot. Pettersson is better with one timer.
-
Virtanen has gone from "is he a bust" to "SHOT-GUN JAKE!" This year's team has a lot going for them, and I really miss Canucks hockey
-
I don't consider someone who's pegged by injuries at a young age to be consider a bust. In hindsight, we can all agree 2016 pick was the wrong choice, but we can't just label a kid who has to deal with injuries a bust. This just isn't fair. Also, the biggest bust in team history is Patrick White. That guy has no business to be even drafted let alone in the first round.

How will the NHL treat conditional trades in the 2020 draft
ruilin96 replied to Ray_Cathode's topic in Canucks Talk
I personally think the condition should be delayed a year. Instead of a conditional 2020 pick, it should be a conditional 2021 pick. If we make the playoffs next year, NJD has the 2021 pick, if we don't then we keep the 2021 but NJD has the 2022 pick no matter what. The point about making the playoffs is to play meaningful playoff games for our young players. It is not "making the playoffs" if there are potentially no playoff games played. -
Remember when people refer to the 2017 draft as a weak draft class? Some even suggest the 2017 draft class would be the weakest of the decade at the time. I don't think people would say the same things now with players like Pettersson, Makar, Heiskanen, Suzuki making impact with their NHL clubs right now. Overall, 2012 was definitely the weakest of the 2010s.
-
The 2012 draft class is the weakest in recent memory. I honestly don't think Jankowski is a bad pick at where he went. Lots of terrible players got picked in that year's 1st round anyways. MG should've packaged our 2012 and 2011 1st in the 2011 TDL to acquire another top 6 and top 4 defenseman for the 2011 cup run.

Demko is very close to be a #1 starter at the NHL level. He reminds me of Markstrom before he become the Marky Markstrom today.

Disliking a player's contract does not mean to dislike the player. Sutter does help the team win when he is in the line up. He kills penalties, he can help out with faceoffs, and he can chip in with some goals here and there. He is also a leader and well-liked by the guys in the locker-room. Don't underestimate the aspect of a good guy in the room, because no one wants to share a lockerroom with someone like a Brendan Leipsic. Is he overpaid for what he brings? Yes. Is he completely useless like some of t he posters here suggests? Definitely not. We win more games with Sutter in the line-up than we do without. With only 1 year remaining on his contract, I can see teams who want to reach the Salary floor take him off our hands, or I could also see the team ride him out until the end of his contract because there is only 1 year remaining in it.

Edmonton OIlers 1st OA pick Nail Yakupov!
