[Report] Blackhawks CEO and President relieved of duties

Look what winning/losing can have on an impact on ranking of a GM. Not that long ago, he was considered the best GM of this era. -

I can totally see Motte score a double OT game winning playoff goal by just going to the net and hard and put home what you would call a "garbage goal" to win a big game for us. -
Can't agree more Apollo! I went to the Canucks and Blackhawks game in January, and I sat at the zone where the Blackhawks shoots twice, aka. where the Canucks defend twice. I notice how much puck battle Edler wins in the corners just to help us clear the zone in the PK and he is really smart all around the game. Problem with him the last few seasons was lack of depth and he was asked to do too much. His offensive point total also depends heavily on the quality of forward he is playing with. It is no secret Edler is having a much better year both offensively and and defensively stat wise this season because the Canucks have more skilled top 6 players he can pass the puck to as well as the added depth of Quinn Hughes and Tyler Myers made both him and Tanev's job a lot easier. And also, Edler plays the game like a gentleman, unlike some guy who looks like Mr. Bean who wears a red jersey and just flops around diving and kneeing opposing player when he can.

Canucks can only sign two of Toffoli, Tanev or Markstrom

I know this is what it seems like, but overall, when leading after 2 periods, the Canucks have only lost 3 times (twice in regulation and once in a shootout), the other times, they have been able to close out and won the game. Yes all 3 games they blew, they blew it in style. 5-1 lead vs Washington, 6-3 lead over Pittsburgh and also a 3-1 lead late in the third period against Columbus. In contrast, the Canucks have won 4 times and gotten points 3 other times when trailing heading into the 3rd period. Because of that, it give us a sense that the Canucks always blow 3rd period leads, but in reality, the Canucks have gotten more points when trail heading into the 3rd than the points they lost leading after 2 periods. -
It was also noted somewhere that about 6-8 months after the 2014 draft, Benning lit the entire European Amateur scouting department on fire by missing out on David Pastrnak.

He was pretty good as a Canuck. His post-Canuck career wasn't great. If we can have a compliance buy-out on LE and ship out Baertchi, we should be good to bring all 3 back. -

Pettersson will be a playoff player too. I also think Bo Horvat will be a playoff beast in the post season. -
Team Canada is still the better line up, but Team USA has closed the gaps by a lot:
-
Here is how I quarantine: And more...
-
He should be brought back next season. Will be on a relatively cheap contract and could still continue his breakout year next season.
-
Lucic 110% deserves to called ugly. He posted a picture of him drinking from the cup, it is also something Kesler could never do again because he is no longer active in the NHL. I hate that 2011 Bruins team, if they didn't have daddy's boy, they would've never won that cup. They would not have even gotten past Tampa Bay in round 3.
-
If JB can some how make some moves to acquire a top 10 pick in the 2021 draft, I will love to bring in Luke Hughes to the Canucks. We need more quality blueliner who can move the puck and Luke Hughes has the potential to be even better than Quinn
-
For some reason, this whole thing reignited my hate towards the 2011 Bruins and it felt like I am back watching that series in 2011 all over again.
-
I believe if the Canucks sign him on or after July 1st (or which ever day free agent frenzy is), the contract would be considered a UFA signing and not any sort of contract extension. If that's the case, the 4th round pick won't go back the other way. However, if the Canucks sign him prior to July 1st (or which ever day free agent frenzy is), it is consider a contract extension and they will have to give up a 4th round pick. July 1st is the day that a player is UFA, and he is free to choose any team he choose to sign with. Any contract sign on July 1st or onward is consider a UFA signing, and the maximum term you can give to a UFA is 7 years. If the team owns the rights of a player prior to July 1st, they can sign him before July 1st, and give him a contract with maximum term of 8 years. I doubt the Canucks want to sign Toffoli for anything more than 6 years, so I can see the Canucks basically have the contract negotiated, ready to go, but won't put his pen to paper until July 1st. That would be the smartest way to do things when it comes to asset management, but you also pissed off the Kings GM if you do that.

I was not one of them. I hated Lucic everywhere he played. Classless, goon and just trash person overall. And I know his play will decline and I am glad he is strangling the Flames cap space right now. Note: I did say I wasn't oppose to bring in Lucic at $1 million per year if the Flames bought him out a few days ago, but now, I completely made up my mind that I don't want Lucic anywhere near the Canucks lockerroom.
-
I would love it if Hoglander to be better than Nylander, but at the same age in the same league, Nylander outscored Hoglander by a large margin. We will see, but Hoglander's comparison should be someone like a Viktor Arvidsson.
-
They stopped making content after the league was shut-down. I don't know why that's case but I am guessing they want to talk about up to date league news rather than going back in time.
-
This whole exchange just brought me right back to 2011, and I can't stand the majority of players on the 2011 Bruins roster. Only guy I respect from the Bruins in that series is Patrice Bergeron.
-
&^@# Lucic, this guy would throw death threats at a player at the end of a series loss during the handshakes because he was butthurt and a sore loser. Hope his career rots in Calgary while eating up their cap space as plug.

What is your favorite Canucks game of the last decade? (2010-2020)
ruilin96 replied to Laheys Liquor's topic in Canucks Talk
First ever game attended: November 13th, 2016 at Home vs. Dallas Stars: Fantastic game for my first ever live game. I was planning on going, but wasn't 100% sure about it until literally the night before, bought the ticket on ticket master, and went on the Ferry next morning. It was a matinee game, so perfect for Islanders like me who can just make a day trip there and back without having to stay overnight. At the time, the Canucks have not beaten the Stars in their last 10 head to head match ups and they just got home from a pretty bad road trip. So I was just hoping that please don't get shut-out, I want to atleast stand up and cheer for a goal in my 1st game. Canucks was down 3-1 (Bo with the only Canucks goal thus far) heading into the third period and there was no indication at the time that they were going to win it. And then the Canucks made it 3-3 very early in the 3rd period with goals from Loui Eriksson (ya I know, and that's not the only time LE has scored a goal in a game I have attended) and Brandon Sutter. Then current Canuck but former Star, Antoine Roussel scored to make it 4-3 Stars and I was devastated. Burrows appeared to score a goal and it was waived off (I remember I was really mad about it). Then Tony Stretch with less than 2 min left, goalie pulled, scored the game tying goal! Granlund then won it for us in OT. On top of all the crazy back and forth event, there was also this Tryamkin hit on Benn. I remember it very well because I was in the opposite end of the rink, and still felt the impact of that hit. I also happened to sat next to Adam Cracknell's uncle (Cracknell was on the Stars by then) who also came to watch the game from Vancouver Island and had a nice chat with him throughout the game. Very good experience for my 1st NHL game live. Favorite Game I attended live: January 2nd, 2020 at Home vs. Chicago Blackhawks: First ever game I attended between the Canucks and Blackhawks (also the only one thus far) and couldn't have been more fun and thrilling to watch. My hatred for the Blackhawks had died down a lot from the early 2010s, and both the Canucks and Blackhawks are very different teams than they were during those days. However, I still really wanted to watch a Canucks and Blackhawks game live because those rivalries were some of my earliest moments of fandom for the Canucks back in the early 2010s. So the prospect of finally seeing our boys take on guys like Toews, Kane and Keith (boooo) live got me really excited days before the event. The game it self was an absolute thriller. Back and forth action, with the Canucks being the winner by the score of 7-5. Super clutch time out by Travis Green when the Blackhawks had the 4-2 lead in the 2nd period, he was able to fire up the troops to tie the game before entering the 3rd period. I remember Kane scored to tie the game with about 6 minutes left because Hughes was interfered with and there was no penalty. But with 4 minutes left, it is our own #88 Adam Gaudette who gets the go ahead goal to put us back on top. Refs gave the Blackhawks a powerplay late in the third on a soft call and the crowd was not impressed with the call at all. Bo would score into the empty net to seal the deal with 9 seconds left in the game. I sat in a section where there was a Blackhawks fan who was super vocal and I counter back with my own chants to let them know which buidling they are in. It was so much fun to watch the new wave of high offense, entertaining to watch Canucks led by Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes, Miller and Boeser take it to our old foes in Toews, Kane and Keith. And yes, booing Duncan Keith all game was a very nice experience as well! -
I posted the following in the Gudbranson thread in the Alumni section, but I will post it here as well: Gudbranson is a player who I think struggles with handling the big market and media like Vancouver. From the moment he arrived in Vancouver, it seems like he was trying to do too much to prove that he is worth what they have given up for. And from time to time, it does seem like he was paying attention to all the comments and stuffs said about him the Vancouver media. There is no coincidence that he is a better player when he plays for teams like Florida and Anaheim, there are just not as much of a distraction and he can just focus on playing his game. As for his brief stint in Pittsburgh, I think the style of play of the Penguins just don't suit him well. They are a fast skating, uptempo, offensive club who plays a speed and skill game which is not very suitable for Gudbranson's style. I still did not understand why Pittsburgh traded for Gudbranson, given his style of play is so far off of their team's model. Gudbranson excels in the trap game (which is the way they play in Anaheim currently)
