[Speculation] Canucks interested in Tyson Barrie
ruilin96 replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
If Barrie wants to come play for the Canucks, he can do that as a UFA next summer. -
5th round pick for Ennis is a solid pick-up. On pace for 40 point forward who is versatile and can play up and down the line-up. Kills penalties as well. Edmonton's weakness early on is scoring on the wing, but now they have acquired a lot of wingers and with the emergence of Yamamoto, it will be a tough team to play against.

I worry a potential 1st round or 2nd round match up against the Oilers now. At the start of the season, I wasn't worried at all about the Oilers as they were literally a 2 player team. Now, with the emergence of Yamamoto, acquisition of AA and RNH having a solid year, they now have 2 solid lines for their top 6. It will be a tough match up for the Canucks if we meet them in the playoffs.

[Signing] Rangers re-sign Chris Kreider

Good news, one less top 6 winger for the Flames to acquire. -
From reading this forum, watching highlight pacakges and previous prospect camp scrimmages, he seem like a lite-version of Quinn Hughes. He is also more of a shooter where Hughes is more of a passer.

[Speculation] Canucks interested in Tyson Barrie

Tyson Barrie is Christian Erhoff-lite. Meanwhile he can be really dynamic offensively, however, he is adventurous in his own-zone and you have to give him shelter minutes. Quinn Hughes is currently our QB from the blue-line on the first unit PP, so if Barrie comes in he will QB the 2nd unit. He likely won't put up the numbers he put up back when he was in Colorado QB their 1st unit because of playing less PP minute and with lesser players. Erhoff was a perfect fit for the Canucks at the time because the Canucks didn't have a puck moving QB D-man for the powerplay. In theory, if the Canucks in 2011 had a player QH's calibre, Erhoff would have been on the 2nd unit and he likely will have a drop of atleast 10 points in that season. -

Interesting note was last night at the HNIC panel, Bieksa said Barrie is better puck mover and better offensively but Stecher defends better 5 on 5. And I do value Bieksa's input as he has been a defenseman in the league for a long time and he would know what it takes to defend 5 on 5 consistently at the NHl level. -
Hughes currently sits 4th OA in All Defenseman scoring. Only 3 d-men in the league has more points than Hughes: Carlson, Josi and Hedman. That's it.
-
I think the All-Star experience has made Hughes an even better player. By being at the event and hanging out with the top players around the league made him a better player. Since the all-star break, he has been on a tear and start to play better and better each game on offensively and defensively.

Also played head to head against the Bergeron line and that line didn't register a point with him on the ice (both Pastrnak goals were scored when Horvat wasn't on the ice). Bergeron didn't get a single point tonight as well.

Juolevi + Lind for Severson is something I wouldn't mind doing

Speaking of which, Quinn Hughes already has more career points than Kotkaniemi, who is a forward and played an extra year.

Roussel is only on there because Leivo got injured. Leivo was the one in his spot.
