  1. So based on this NHLe thing Juolevi would be leading all rookie defenseman in points as of today? not bad i guess.
  2. Curious, how many PP points does he have? It seems like most of his points come from the PP. Not a knock, just wondering. Future PP: Gadjovich at the half wall, Pettersson on the edge of the right faceoff circle. Boeser manning the point on the left side, a PMD (praying we get Dahlin for this) on the point, Gaudette in the slot. Imagine just getting Dahlin? We'd be scoring power-play goals for days. With Boeser alone we are top 5 in the league.
  3. Can he reach 60pts? Does anyone know how many games are left in his season?

  5. Damn, that really sucks. I remember this from reading it somewhere (not sure if it was from the forums) but that's quite brutal to hear.

I don't care how old he is, he doesn't look like he'll be anything special.

Laine and Eichel were the last two 2nd overalls and they came in and dominated. Patrick will never be a top player in the NHL.

Actually, he kind of looks like a bust. I'll give him another full season before I consider him one.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

It's not as bad as the Virtanen thread was after the WJC and last year.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

You do realize he was voted as Finnish best PLAYER, let alone defenseman in the WJC right? "He needs to play better". 17pts in 26gp, right behind Heiskanen as both U19 defenseman having breakout seasons which is pretty much unheard of in the finnish league? Yeah he's been scratched the last few games and according to Rick Dhaliwal, Sami thought Juolevi was fatigued and tired, hence the healthy scratches much like Boeser was in the beginning of the season. It doesn't matter where he's playing, someone who is fatigued and tired won't be able to play to the best of their ability. Again, there could be a possiblity that Sami made up an excuse and it might be a little more than that but that's quite a stretch. And wtf does that last sentence mean? quite unnecessary. Saying it like that makes you look like a fool. I don't get some of the criticism for Juolevi. Yes he hasn't been exceeding expectations for a 5th overall pick, but it's not like he's NOT meeting those expectations as well.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

He is though. Unless you expect a rookie defenseman in the Finnish league putting up PPG numbers as a defensemanCause that's never happened before. 17pts in 26gp. That's still pretty good. Yes he's been healthy scratched, we dont know why exactly. But TPS lost both games with him out of the line-up. Heiskanen yes is a year younger with 1 more point and plays roughly 5 more minutes and has played in 3 less games than Juolevi. Ask yourself, is he SIGNIFICANTLY outplaying Juolevi? One is in his D+1 season, the other is in his D+2. FYI, I'm fine with comparing players as I feel like it's a good way to measure success.
  11. Then you should be a lot more clearer next time. You said he's not a number 1 or 2 center on a contending team which is just false considering he's putting up borderline 1st line, 2nd line numbers on a rebuilding team. You would think he'd have more points with more of a skilled team around him.
  12. Domi just proves that being a 90-100 point player in junior doesn't necessarily always translate to the NHL. It's what you do at the NHL level. You also say he's been kind of stuck at the 40-50 point plateau for 2 years. What, you expect him to be a 60-65 point player at age 21/22? That's quite the feat for most 21-22 year olds, especially playing on a bottom feeding team. Again, if you're willing to use the excuse that Domi is playing on significantly worse team, you should also use that argument for Horvat last season.
  13. Horvat is in his 4th season in the NHL. Ok ok ok, Again mind you he had 52 last year as a 22 year old. Are you saying that if he was on a contending team he wouldn't get as many points? Your logic is insane! So what Kesler had 59 points in his 5th season? Guess what? Horvat had a better rookie season, better 2nd year, better 3rd year, and is having a much better 4th season than Kesler, as you said, on pace for 56 points, playing 1 season less. Now notice Kesler's jump from 08 to 09. 08 he had a declining Naslund, Morrison, Taylor freaking Pyatt as his linemate, and 26 year old Sedins with 70+ points. 09 he had Demitra, Burrows, Sundin and 27 year old Sedins with their first 80+ season. Notice 08 bad team, Kesler only had 37 points as our 2nd line center. 09, we have a contending team, and oh, he has 59 points, with quality players around him AND 2, not 1, 2 80+ point players on our team!
  14. DUDE, you don't know that lmao. He got 52 points last season playing with a perimeter player in Baertschi and whoever linemate on his other. That's laughable and just straight up ignorant of you to say that when he was 8 points shy of that feat. Horvat is on our first PP unit which is currently 5th in the league, he was our best penalty killing forward last season and this year he's alleviated from those minutes as there are guys like Dowd, Gaunce, Eriksson and Granlund etc that can help in that regard. He's 22 years old, out of everyone in that 2013 Draft he is currently 6th in scoring and he's only in his 4th year in the NHL whereas everyone above him are already in their 5th season. Domi has 22pts in 50gp thus far, Horvat has the same amount of points playing less than 29 games. Yes arizona is significantly worse than the canucks, but hey, why cant you use the same argument about us last year when Horvat got 52 points playing on the 2nd worse team in the league? Horvat > Domi > Tierney. Not even close dude. Stats dont lie.
  15. What? Kesler was 25/26 and Henrik was in his late 20's when they finally started to consistently put up 70+ a season. Horvat is 22 years old and was on pace for a 70-75 points before his injury. Horvat is already better than what Kesler was at that same age. We don't even know what Horvat in his prime loosk like yet because hes 22. If you are talking about Horvat in his prime vs Kesler in his prime then please wait another 4-5 years when Horvat actually hits his prime. If you are comparing Horvat right now vs Kesler in his prime, what the hell is even the point? That's like saying would you take Henrik Sedin when he was 24 vs Naslund when he was in his prime? How does that work? Obviously you take the guy in his prime. You say the version of today's canucks is pathetic. You're actually trying to compare a player who is playing on a rebuilding team and has YET to reach his prime to a player, in his prime playing with a contending team.. how does that work? that's so dumb.
  16. Yup, now he's number one and Tierney is a 3rd liner and Domi converted to wing cause he couldn't play center at the NHL level. Why bring up junior?
  17. I was on the side of keep Virtanen in Utica despite his good showing in the pre-season because I'd figured he'd struggle towards the end of the season. Right now he's not even an top line player in the AHL, and you can't argue that. It's sucks because he's going to have to clear waivers next year to be in Utica and he'll most definitely be claimed. This is why you can't bank on pre-season production. Totally different in the regular season. We're just going to have to move on from this pick. Hopefully he can be a serviceable 3rd liner which is definitely reachable. I hope next year he plays with Gaudette on the third line.
  18. I see a bit of Tyler Toffoli/wayne Simmonds in Lind. Skill and passing ability if Toffoli and the gritty tenacious, and north-south game Simmonds has.
  19. It'd be nice to have Pettersson, Dahlen, Lind, Juolevi and Gadjovich playing on the same team in Utica next year. I've said it many times, I think a year in the minors for Pettersson will do wonders. IMO Gaudette and Juolevi make the team next year. If Juolevi has an amazing camp he'll most definitely crack our defense.
  20. Holy $&!# this guy can skate. Was on vacation so i couldn't see the development camp. He's going to play at Harvard next year. He's also got a wicked clapper
  21. He never said he was going to be a top 3 player.. he said he PLAYS in the 3rd best league. Pettersson is on pace to finish top 3 in u20 all time PPG in the SHL which is indeed very unheard of as only Kent Nilsson and Forsberg have managed to do that. He can still eclipse their record. Although I will agree we should still temper our expectations. Not every rookie is going to come out and start scoring like Boeser is doing right now. He's still got a lot of ways to go before he makes the NHL imo. Next year we will potentially see Pettersson, Dahlen, Lind, Gadjovich, and Gaudette all in Utica. That should help them tremendously. At least one of those names will be on our starting line-up and IMO that's Gaudette. Pettersson and Dahlen should all get at least a season in Utica to get well accustomed to NA ice. Then in 2019-2020, when the Sedins retire, there will be an influx of these guys battling for rosters spots.
