  1. Some have forgotten the kind of player he was in his prime. I've said this so many times before, I've hated the way he left, but he remains my favourtie canuck of all-time. The only two jerseys I have are both Kesler jerseys. Imagine if he had better linemates. 85-90 points would not have been out of the question. A fricken 2nd line center putting up those types of numbers. Such a stacked 2009-2012 team we had. ;(
  2. I would have to agree. Nilsson has had so many opportunities to really steal that job but hasn't built on the ridiculous 6 or so games he had earlier in the season. It's time to just roll with Markstrom and see what happens.
  3. I can see that this year they chose a rather heavier, bigger, and faster forward group than in recent years. Skill is slightly lacking though. However, Canada's skill lies within the very stacked defensive core and a deep goaltending pool. It's evident so far in this exhibition game how fast, skilled, and mobile the defense is. Bean, Timmins, Foote, Mete, Makar, Clague etc. That is one helluva d core. Still though, it's gonna be tough beating Sweden and it's all around skill.
  4. Yeah, and that was the pregames as well. This is Sweden's tournament to lose.
  5. Has anyone ever thought about having a potential Pettersson/Horvat/Boeser line? I have a feeling that Pettersson on the wing would be a good compliment with two-way centerman in Horvat and a goal scorer in Boeser. That would be helluva balanced line.
  6. Stecher also hasn't had a point since opening night. That might have to do with decreased role and not being on the power play. Brown elects to put Pouliot on the 2nd PP. Maybe he doesn't see Stecher as a fit as the PMD on the PP. Either way, we need to get him going. With Boeser out, I think Green/Brown should go back to the two defenseman on the PP. Have Edler and Stecher playing together and have the Sedins out with Granlund, who has 3 goals in 2 games all on the powerplay. Man I hate the thought of having Stecher sit but if he's not really producing then I can really see him sitting for Gudbranson. Or even worse, being traded. I really love the guy and I hope he has stronger 2nd half of the season.
  7. if you want a laugh, visit this funny thread going on the HF boards about Boeser and how hes matched Matthews at his point in career. Lots of funny stuff including lots of insecure Leafs fans and quite weird conversations happening

  8. this colorado/tampa game is the epitome of excitement

  9. And Lind brings some of that edge as well. Pretty brutal chirper according to multiple people. A real douchebag to play against. But hey, we need some of those players. Makes games that more fun to watch. I've always compared Lind to a Wayne Simmonds type. Both 6'1 and 185lbs and both play a similar style crash and bang, in your face type players. Blend of speed and skill and real tenacious with an offensive upside of course.
  10. Had Lind been eligible for the 2016 draft I would assume he would have been a 4th or 5th round draft pick since he had 41 points in 70gps and 0 points in the playoffs in 16GPS.
  11. Nick Suzuki got cut? i thought he was their best centerman in pretty much every time hes represented his country.

      DiPietro was cut too.

      So sad, yet so classy.

Lind and him are going to be awesome for this team.

Lind still has a chance to make it barring injuries.

      (I'm feeling really optimistic today)

  12. Virtanen should watch some tape of Josh Anderson of the blue jackets. Speedy PWF that drives to the net and create chaos and confusion, with a bit of more sense of urgency in his game. Lately, I'm seeing a lot more flybys from Virtanen. Often times he does flybys because he's so fast he really doesn't need to skate as all he needs to do is glide. He also needs to stop shooting it at the goalies crest or right into the glove from far out. Instead, aim to shoot closer and lower for some rebounds for Gaunce or whomever to pot in. Virtanen playing a full season and getting somewhere around 20-25 points is a good start for him. Hopefully next year he's going to be playing with better linemates such as Gaudette and possibly Dahlen, Goldobin, or hell even Pettersson if he makes the team. I'd also love to try Virtanen on the 2nd line PP unit as the guy in front of the net. Virtanen Eriksson Gagner Vanek Pouliot
  13. (eriksson) 6 million dollars to produce 3rd line numbers. totally.
  14. That's on point to what's been said about Lind. Quite a pest and loves to run his mouth. Loves to also taunt the opposing fans by waving the logo at them. He's definitely no Tkachuk level rat but he's got a reputation for being a pest.

So is bird flu.  It's even worse than man flu.

  16. Connor, Barzal, Boeser. LW/C/RW. All three Bruins could have drafted.
  17. Granlund/Gaudette/Virtanen Our hopeful third line at the start of next season.
  18. Yep. Owen Tippett played 7 games with Florida and potted 1 goal with them but wasn't even given an invitation to WJC camp. His play without the puck and his defensive deficiencies played a huge role in them. Also looked pretty subpar during the canada/russia series as he was taking way too many shots at poor locations and was a turnover machine.
  19. If Gaudette lights it up in the Olympics, I'm sure he's gonna get tons and tons of coverage.
  20. Apparently tonight was his first game at center position too. Pretty excisted about Pettersson and I think he's definitely on our roster next year. Look for Gaudette and Pettersson to be on our team next year.
