  1. I just watched the full interview thinking there’s probably a lot more than the tweets of this thread. That press conference was one of the most tempestuous conferences I’ve seen in hockey. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hughes and management aren’t on great terms after last weeks comments. I think it was ill advised of Hughes to say what he said in this media market, especially when the investigation concluded there was nothing about Pearson’s injury that was poorly handled, other than unforeseeable setbacks. The ripple effect that it’s caused however may just be the thing that really sets the dominos off in seeing major changes with the core. Rutherford saying some of the core will be moved and it may be popular or unpopular. I think that all but confirms Horvat will be gone, along with others like Boeser and perhaps one of Miller, Petey, Hughes, or Demko who are the “core” of this group.
  2. If OEL was a better overall defenseman than I guess we’d have no problems moving his entire contract!!!!
  3. No I didn’t misread lol. On what damn day is OEL a better overall defenseman? I mean stats say otherwise, but of course y’all don’t want to look at those stats because it hinders your argument.
  4. No he is not lol. Skating: Hughes Zone exits/entries: Hughes by a long shot Goals and assists: Hughes Defensive awareness: Hughes Poise: Hughes TOI: Hughes +/-: Hughes These are just hand picked stats. Watching Hughes and OEL play it’s quite obvious who the better player is. Your problem with Hughes is akin to Alf’s problem with Demko. Unjustified, and certainly unbecoming.
  5. OEL Buyout: $800k 2023-2024 $2.3M 2024-2025 $4.7M 2025-2026, 2026-2027 $2.4M 4 more years after that until 2031-2032 Yeah, anybody who suggests an OEL buyout is out to lunch with that idea. Either retain $2.7M for 4 years and trade him in the off season, or ride him out. The only issue I have is that he has a stupid NMC, which is going to hinder things considerably. Finding a potential suitor for OEL needs to be priority #1 in the off season. Hopefully Miller isn’t too far behind.
  6. Poor take. We don’t need any more of these types of behind the scenes crap. If OEL is moved out I’d hope it’s done in good faith, not because he was forced out because of rifts behind the bench. This will severely hinder our ability to retain or bring people back, with the already toxic locker room environment and a clown show of a management group who continue to show unprofessionalism unlike this organization has seen before since the Keenan days.
  7. Why do you hate Tocchet? Do you automatically just see someone convicted of a crime and absolutely go ape shit on them? Especially nonviolent, non exploiting criminals? You have these absurd takes of moral superiority which is absolutely condescending and disingenuous. Do you think people aren’t allowed second chances, and any type of crime they commit should put them in jail for life? You were spouting nonsense saying Tocchet should be in prison, almost 17 years later after he already did his time.
  8. Is Patrick Allvin even a real person? Where is he?
  9. I’m not backtracking what is now a merged thread to find what I was referring to.
  10. What an idiot admitting to this type of unprofessionalism openly. Throws the coach under the bus, says he’s been looking for coaches while a coach is still employed. Garbage management.
  11. Should Gretzky be stripped from awards and accolades and banned from the NHL because he was also part of the gambling ring as well? I don’t mind Tocchet being hired. Do I think there are better coaching options? Absolutely. People don’t realize you can be a terrible person and not be convicted of anything. You can be convicted of a crime despite it not being an act that was hurtful to a specific person(s) I.e gambling and defrauding a corporate entity. Gambling crime attributed to addiction fuelled by THE SAME ENTITIES promoting gambling every other minute between commercials and ads, creating a systemic culture of gambling. The games we watched are all sponsored by gambling. Same people that profit off of these ads and prey on individuals are the real criminals, direct your focus on them. At the end of the day, comparing relatively minor gambling crimes to human indifferences such as the SA of a co employee is absolutely asinine.
  12. While I do tend to agree, there’s a certain level of being beyond redeemable. Obviously it’s quite subjective to the person, and it’s definitely not as concrete as one would like to think, but there’s redeemable crimes/acts and non redeemable crimes/acts and everything that is in between, based off of societal norms and implications that guide the distinctions between good and bad behaviour, aka morality.
  13. Not even remotely the same. Also, you know who else was involved in that? Gretzky, his wife, and Travis Green. They made it out, Rick took heat, but he wasn’t the ring leader. I’m not about to debate morality here, but knowing someone was being continuously raped and abused and turning a blind eye to it is far worse than any type of “match fixing”.
  14. Hopefully this hire was made with the future in mind and NOT to try and get that bump to somehow miraculously make the playoffs.
  15. He’s not an idiot, I don’t know where that narrative came from. He’s a players coach, and went on the record saying he never went more than 3 days without talking to each and every player. He also said you can win with any type of system, it’s about getting the players to buy into it. Every player needs to be treated a little different, but he went on to say that he expects players to stick up for another and lead each other. He doesn’t put up with any of that pouting stuff. His gambling incident is not reflective of the type of person he is. He’s a young coach, has cup pedigree and experience, and is eager to coach.
  16. There is a lot of content on YouTube of Tocchet and TNT and he’s a great personality and his philosophy on coaching is really great. He’s a 3 time Stanley cup champion. He knows what is required of a winning team. His interview with Spittin Chicklets is also a really great listen. At this point, I’d have more respect for management if they let Bruce go from this circus show. Publicly calling out your coach the way they did — did some irreparable damage, subliminally.
  17. Weekes is a very reliable insider, and reported the Boldy signing and term 6 hours before it was announced last night. Could very well be the last days as a Canuck for Bruce. Will update thread once official or any other updates.
  18. Boeser has looked pretty good the last couple of weeks now. I thought he played poorly today up until the 3rd period. All he needs is literally a power skating coach. He’s strong with the puck and his edge work is great, the thing that holds him back is his acceleration which can be fixed. If he is able to accelerate quicker, his top end speed will naturally improve. Patrick Sharp was someone who I remember that was a great skater but was super slow at generating speed. I remember reading an article stating how over the years as he got older, he actually became quicker and that was because he put more emphasis on doing more explosive workouts off the ice.
  19. I’m very curious as to what our generational management has to say tomorrow and what they plan to do the next couple of days.
  20. Also our trade baits got points too. Glad they won it for Gino
