  1. Nic Petan? That's going to cost Bruce his job. No playoffs for you!!
  2. So, the Flames have been sucking against teams the Canucks need to pass, allowing those teams to pick up points. CGY is currently losing to the Preds. Sutter's such an a-hole (imo)
  3. That's a big IF. I think they might have better odds of winning the Cup this year.
  4. How long is Chiasson out for? I was impressed with guys like Highmore and Lockwood against the Stars, lots of energy, hits, and really frustrating the opponents. They can't look past this game (to MIN and CGY), this is also a must win.
  5. True, it would still be a few years before that player was ready, the other stars heading into their prime. In the meantime they would still need a veteran to lead the young guys. Keeping Miller makes some sense, if he's willing to accept a reasonable salary/term. Horvat scored 31 goals in a shortened season. He's very good at faceoffs, defensive game is good, team captain entering his prime. What is that worth? A Top 4RD?
  6. Friedman has been boasting about the Canucks home games since he did the telethon show last weekend. How lively the atmosphere was and commenting how much Canucks fans love their team. He also said the Canucks goal song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" is one of the best in the league.
  7. Canucks are looking fantastic right now, but 1 more loss and they probably won't make the playoffs. If they win their last 6 games, that would be incredible and we would be in for a treat. But if they don't make it in, AND win a lottery spot - Do they trade Miller? Or do they build around the new star at the 2022 Draft, Pettersson, Boeser, Podkolzin, Hughes, etc.? Basically, would winning a lottery spot completely change the direction of the team? Re-signing a 30-year old to a big, long term contract might not be the best thing they could do if this happens.
  8. Holy crap Dickinson is good but actually, his best game by far as a Canuck IMO. He was very engaged all game, using his body, picking up multiple points. Schenn vs Benn was great, so glad he's on our team. Canucks looked dominating all game (without Horvat and Pearson)
  9. New formula: (well, IMO should be, maybe) Years without a 1st OA = 1 lotto ball e.g. VAN - 52 years without a 1st OA = 52 lottery balls NJ - 3 years without a 1st OA = 3 lottery balls BUF - 1 year without a 1st OA = 1 lottery ball This way, every team has a chance to get a 1st at some point, and if you get one, it might be a while before you get another.
  10. What's all this crazy Trade Hughes talk? Hughes is the best Dman the Canucks have ever had, ever, and it's not close. D wins championships. What would NJ give back? Hischier and Smith? Heck no.
  11. OEL - ?? Hughes - Schenn Dermott - Myers Burroughs Hunt It needs work. I'm not even sure Schenn is a Top 4 Dman, but he seems to play well with Hughes. They need a better #1RD.
  12. Where would the Canucks be if they never traded the 1sts in 2020 and 2021? LE, Roussel, Beagle contracts would all be coming to an end, $12 million off the books. Be nice to have Barron and Guenther + in the system, and a lot of cap to play with. Sure, the Canucks would've been a non-playoff team and near the bottom, but that's exactly what they are now, with nothing in the prospect pool. Miller, OEL and Garland have been real good, but who knows where this team would be today if Benning had more patience.
  13. What if Miller wants $9 x 8 or $10 x 6 or something silly? Does Allvin pay that to keep him? And if he doesn't, who will lead the team next season? I hope Miller is reasonable, and understands that in order to build a winner, they can't pay one or two players too much, leaving other parts of the roster weaker (e.g TOR and EDM). Miller appears to be a very good leader, and a team guy, so maybe he is willing to accept something like $8.5 x 6. I suspect that if Miller is re-signed, Horvat (to PHI?) and more will be traded. Possibly to get another D and Top 6 winger. Podkolzin - Miller - Tippett I'd love to see this line
  14. Keep thinking Boeser could be a fit in BUF, PIT or NJ BUF - (RW/LW) Tuch and (RD) Jokiharju PIT - (RW) Kapanen and (RD) Maniscalco NJ - (LW/C) Zacha and (LD) Bahl
  15. I've got that feeling too. Boeser might be difficult to move, so they could roll the dice and see if he rebounds. He's still youngish and could still be a 25-30 goal scorer. I think Boeser takes less than $7.5 too.
  16. Benning seemed (to me anyway) to be a gullible, nice guy, who tried to fast-track to the playoffs. He gave away a lot in the attempt. Allvin, on the other hand, seems to me, to be a bit of a patient, hard-a**, who won't be fooled or taken advantage of. I think Allvin has a number (salary and term) that they won't go above to re-sign Miller. Could be $8.5 x 6 years? Miller is important to this team and he will lead them. If they re-sign Miller, though, I can see them trading Horvat. Really no idea what happens with Boeser.
  17. Yeah, he hasn't done great in ARI, and injured again, but he is young and can still develop well in VAN. Maybe Chychrun isn't the Dman, but I do think the Canucks need to beef up the D in front of Demko. I'd love to get Cernak or Sergachev out of TB, but that's a dream, won't happen. Maybe Carlo from BOS? A great D in front of Demko could really make life easier.
  18. ARI is going to clear a lot of cap after this season: LE Beagle Roussel Kessel Stralman $24.5 million off the books to ARI - Boeser, Poolman and Rathbone to VAN - Chychrun and the #32 (ARI has three 1sts this year) Edit - I know this probably won't happen, but Canucks need younger, tougher Dmen
  19. I have a feeling there could be a trade to bring in Kapanen and maybe even Marino, but it will take more than Brock Boeser to get it done. Dickisnon has negative value. IMO could be: Boeser and Dickinson for Kapanen (cap dump) or Boeser and Rathbone for Kapanen and Marino
